Just done another test and it’s no darker than the one I did 2 days ago. Not sure how many DPO I am but symptoms have gone too and have low abdominal cramping.

It’s taken us 2.5 years to fall pregnant again after last M/C and looks like it’s happening all over again Sad

This baby is so wanted. Feeling very sorry for myself.

I am increasingly on the fence here. You've been pregnant before but you clearly feel there is something not right and that feeling isn't changing (the hpt thing was bonkers though) . How painful is this pain on one side?

Girlwiththearabstrap · 19/05/2018 16:14

You aren't being silly at all. Early pregnancy is hard. Especially after losses.
But either you need medical attention off the pain and bleeding is severe, or you need to accept that at this moment you are pregnant and stop obsessing over possible worst case scenarios.
It's really hard to go by feelings. I was convinced my daughter's pregnancy was going to end in miscarriage as I had no symptoms and heavy bleeding, and a "gut feeling" something was wrong. It wasnt! I was just paranoid.

Iswallowtoothpaste · 19/05/2018 17:43

@Frank do yourself a favour and keep your thoughts to yourself.

I had this pain a week ago but it never progressed to anything. Not hugely painful and literally lasts a second but does make me stop in my tracks. My gut feeling now is that everything is ok. But I still can’t stop questioning certain things IYSWIM. Just stuff playing on my mind a little.

OP, we are about the same gestation and I have had horrible pain down the side, very unpleasant. I’ve had a scan and everything is fine, I just wanted to reassure you that it could be pretty normal.

I’m still a bit worried every now and then and that’s even with the scan.

Teateaandmoretea · 19/05/2018 20:56

That sounds positive, we are all rooting for you Smile

Iswallowtoothpaste · 19/05/2018 21:00

Thank you @SecretStash. I’ve actually just been reading up on round ligament pain. It describes a jabbing, stabbing feeling at the side of the uterus which doesn’t last any longer than a couple of seconds. Usually mentions it being felt more during the second trimester but if you scour the Internet, it’s certainly common during the first trimester and the only tell tale sign for some women that they were actually pregnant.

Coming to think of it, when I was pg with DD and myself and OH were having adult relations, if I was on top (sorry TMI I know) I used to get this awful stitch like, jabbing pain in my lower, left hand side and that was certainly first trimester. So I’m guessing that this is the same sort of thing.

@Teateaandmoretea thank you!

Do you have a local early pregnancy unit?

We have an NHS service that runs weekdays and up to 14 weeks you can visit for pain, bleeding or anxiety.

I'm 13 weeks now but at 9 weeks i had a huge bleed and it turnt out ro be a heamtoma. I have been bleeding for 4 weeks now and going rhere has helpes settle my mind. X

Mrstobe90 · 20/05/2018 01:46

The pain that you are describing is called round ligament pain and is what happens when you're pregnant and your ligaments soften so that your uterus can grow for the baby.

It sounds as if you are pregnant and everything is going ok.

I know that with anxiety, it is extremely hard to relax but you need to try. All this stress won't be good for the baby so your best chance for a healthy pregnancy is to stop googling, stop convincing yourself that the worst will happen and just enjoy the pregnancy.

Whether it sticks or not, no amount of googling or peeing on sticks is going to change that.

Iswallowtoothpaste · 20/05/2018 12:04

Thank you! Yep, definitely round ligament pain! I was coughing last night and kept getting it. Finn how little things like getting up from sitting down can set it off yet carrying buckets of water for cows doesn’t!

Well yet again I’m bleeding Sad it was pink with a tiny red clot in it, sore boobs have completely disappeared, no cramps but my back is starting to ache.

Sick to death now and am certainly going to ring the doctors tomorrow and send a rocket up their arses to get me a scan! Just beginning to believe that I could actually be so lucky and then this.

Minnia · 21/05/2018 21:21

No experience with the bleeding sorry op but I had the same kind of pain as you describe.

We had Ivf and I remember thinking it was game over one day as I bent down and had an awful stabbing pain in my left hand side.

I was around 3 weeks pregnant then. Turns out it was twins and everything was stretching faster hence the ligament pain so early on.

I wouldn't recommend a scan before 6 weeks as it's hit and miss seeing the heartbeat until then which will lead to more worry.

Hopefully things will settle down for you soon.

Loveatthefiveanddime · 22/05/2018 06:48

Yes, send a rocket up their arses.

isambardo · 22/05/2018 07:07

Hi op, get to your gp and get referred to the epu. 7 weeks is definitely far enough along for a scan. I’ve had scans at that gestation for bleeding pregnancies (with both good and bad outcomes). FWIW, I had a blighted ovum last year and had almost no pregnancy symptoms and period like bleeding from 6 or 7 weeks, so from my point of view your symptoms sound much more positive.

I’ve been keeping an eye on this thread as we seem to be very close in gestation (I’m 7 weeks tomorrow). Wishing you luck.

Iswallowtoothpaste · 22/05/2018 07:46

Thank you @Minnia, hopefully I’ll get some answers soon. I think I’m far enough on for a scan now, fingers crossed I get one.

I’ve had a tiny bit of browny, tinged mucus when I wiped this morning but no actual bleeding, touch wood. No more cramps just the odd left sided pain and a heavy feeling in my uterus. Symptoms have returned this morning, breasts are sore again, no sickness but that usually hits me later in the day.

Thank you @isambardo hopefully this will have a positive outcome but that ideaology is waning ever time I experience a bleed and am ignore yet again by my doctor. I would hate to take away a scan appointment of someone who is more in need than I am which is why I haven’t nagged as much as I could’ve done!

I've been following your thread @Iswallowtoothpaste and praying that everything works out for you. I just wanted to let you know I had bleeding as you describe for the first 12 weeks of my pregnancy. I was terrified, and every fresh bleed brought more fear. I first saw the EPU at six weeks and they were brilliant, they saw me every other week until 12 weeks. Keeping everything crossed for you x

Iswallowtoothpaste · 22/05/2018 09:00

@milney25 that’s reassuring to hear! I know it could go either way. Have just dropped DD off at school so going to ring doctors when I get home and see if I can get a call back

OP posts:
Moviestar · 22/05/2018 09:02

Fingers crossed all is ok for you OP.

Iswallowtoothpaste · 22/05/2018 09:28

Thank you all. I’m meant to be getting a call back from my doctor seeing as though I can’t get an appointment until June the 15th Shock.

Spoke to the nurse when I initially rang up and she said I should’ve never had dates for both my booking in appointment and early scan by now. It’s not very reassuring, we put so much into the hands of these people.

OP posts:
Iswallowtoothpaste · 22/05/2018 12:15

Just to let you all know that I’ve had a call back from the doctor who couldn’t have been less interested if he’d tried.

He’s told me to wait and see, fair enough if I was only 4/5 weeks along but surely they’d be able to see something by now on a scan and then I’d know either way. Feeling very let down and disheartened. May even call into A&E although they adopted the same attitude with my last M/C. Failing that I think I’ll contact the midwives myself and explain what’s been going on.

He basically told me that I’d probably miscarry but refused to send me for a scan so I’d know either way. ‘Only two thirds of pregnancies make it past 12 weeks and we can’t send everyone to the EPAU for a scan.’

I’m changing doctors at the very least.

OP posts:
SecretStash · 22/05/2018 12:28

Ok, now is the time for £100 and 40 miles to the private scan.

isambardo · 22/05/2018 12:40

Can you call the epu directly and discuss with them?

Iswallowtoothpaste · 22/05/2018 12:51

@SecretStash this is what I was thinking but I’m worried in case they aren’t equipped to deal with giving bad news etc or perhaps not trained to pick certain problems up which is why I’m holding out for an NHS scan IYSWIM. It’s looking more and more tempting though.

I think I’ll contact the midwife first and if I have no joy, then I’ll contact the EPU.

OP posts:
brogueish · 22/05/2018 13:08

I think the problem is that having a scan now won't give you anything but temporary reassurance. I fully understand how stressful first tri can be, but would you really stop worrying if everything appears fine now but what you've described continues? It seems that you want to know for certain that your pg will or won't continue well, but right now there is nobody that can tell you that. Sorry if that sounds harsh, but do think about what info/advice/contact would genuinely be helpful for you right now.

Hope it all works out for you Flowers
