Just looking for a board to join, have just started weaning myself off conception. I’m due 26th December. Feeling like it would be nice to join a group with people due similar time :)
Feeling a little anxious about things going wrong and dp doesn’t really understand x

@rose, don't tell work you are not returning! They then wont pay you holiday pay that you will still get even though you are on maternity and they don't have to pay you SMP, That comes from the government which is annoying to claim I've heard. Just tell them you will be going back and then before your due to hand your notice in.

emmalou9 · 24/05/2018 11:03

Dont you have to go back to work for at least 13 weeks to be entitled to the maternity pay you've had from your employer?
I definitely read that somewhere although that might just be teachers as we get quite a good deal on maternity pay towards some places.

mamfypuss · 24/05/2018 11:07

@emmalou9 I haven't read that. I'm not An expert, but I think that might be in your employment terms for their maternity which is more than statutory. We only get statutory in my work so I don't need to return. I work in a mans world with cars. This is the first time they've had a female sales member. So there is no extra for us x

Pob13 · 24/05/2018 11:22

@Rose2887 I dont really know how I feel to be honest! Obviously it was reassuring to see the heartbeat but I dont think the anxiety will pass until 12wks. Last time we got to 8+4 so Im just sort of waiting for it to go wrong again. DH is getting excited and Im trying not to bring him down.

Pob13 · 24/05/2018 11:25

@emmalou9 yes I have to return for 13wks too, otherwise I have to pay it all back! Im guessing it varies between workplaces.

mamfypuss · 24/05/2018 14:47

My DP's text me all excited as I've got a letter. Scan is booked on the 11th June.. now the count down begins x

Rose2887 · 24/05/2018 14:54

@Pob13 sorry to hear your feeling this way!
I’m quite worried for my scan... my dp sister had to give birth to her baby girl as had Edwards syndrome.. they say it’s rare but obviously not!!! Xx

@mamfypuss mine is on the 12 June - can’t wait for it too hurry up and arrive - I think I’ll be 12 + 4. Just hoping all is ok 👌🏽 and excited to find out due date - Christmas pudding xx

mamfypuss · 25/05/2018 09:37

@Maggi85 it's super exciting. I think I'm going to be put back a week. I should be about 13 weeks. But I have a feeling they are going to tell me I'm 12. Making it due 26th December 🙈 x

Rose2887 · 25/05/2018 14:23

Anyone been getting headaches??? 😕 Only started today... what a pain!!! Xxx

Mumma2bears · 25/05/2018 21:34

I’m due Christmas Eve. I know it sounds silly but I really don’t want a Christmas baby, is there anyway I can change this by lying to midwife? (I know people think I should just be lucky but it’s just how I feel). Has anyone lying about their last period date to change due date?

Pob13 · 26/05/2018 09:29

@Rose2887 i had a really bad headache earlier in the week but put it down to dehydration from the nausea and diarrhea. Are you drinking enough?

Pob13 · 26/05/2018 21:14

Getting real twinges today. Every now and then a really sharp twinge. I keep expecting to see blood when i ho to the loo. Really hope the little bugger is just settling in.

Rose2887 · 27/05/2018 06:23

@Pob13 it’s probably all the stretching 😊 I get them too! I bought an angel sounds doubler thing off ebay, could hear babies heartbeat, only cost me £15!!
No more headaches thank god! Xx

@Pob13 I get twinges too. Hopefully it's nothing to worry about.

I get super bad headaches... that never seem to go, only seem to fade. I've tried everything, cold compress on the back of the neck. Vix. Doesn't seem to go. Going to have to give in and have some paracetamol soon. Xx

Iswallowtoothpaste · 27/05/2018 08:58

I’ve been having twinges since 5 weeks in my left side, was terrified that it may have been an ectopic but a scan 2 days ago confirmed that it wasn’t. They’ve actually eased off slightly now but still getting them every now and again. Seems to be when I stand up from sitting down and even as I’m having a wee. It’s a very sharp pain but literally lasts for a second or two. I’ve put it down to round ligament pain.

Attie17 · 27/05/2018 10:21

@Mumma2bears even if you lie to the midwife, it won’t change the scan - which will tell them how far along you are and from which they will estimate your due date. (My midwives were at pains to point out that until the scan, they wouldn’t have an accurate due date)

Worth remembering too that due days are just estimates, and many babies are born two or so weeks either side of it.

Also worth considering the length of your cycle and when you ovulate, as that can change the likely due date.

FoxgloveStar · 29/05/2018 08:03

@Mumma2Bears lying to the midwife isn’t going to make a difference to when the baby comes. I understand not wanting baby to arrive on Christmas Day. There is some interesting research that shows a dip in birthdays on Christmas Day, which implies that women can “hold it in” mentally. Not sure I could imagine that though!

I’ve got my anomoly scan tomorrow (11+5). Had a fight with my mum last night over DS’s 2nd birthday party this coming Friday. She’s invited loads of my family round to my house 6hrs early, without asking me. I nearly dumped “I’m ill and pregnant so stop being so inconsiderate” on her. Resisted but still annoyed.

Pob13 · 29/05/2018 14:01

Just spoken to GP. He has prescribed me something for sickness. Really hoping it works.

FireAndRain45 · 29/05/2018 16:23

Same @Pob13 ! I'm on prochlorperazine. Not even being sick it's just constant grinding nausea. Obviously very lucky and happy to be pregnant etc but I'm hating it so far, it had better bloody ease up after 12 weeks. Crying and nearly throwing up while trying to do an online food shop was a low point last week 😩

FireAndRain45 · 29/05/2018 16:25

Hope your scan goes well @FoxgloveStar have you managed to keep it a secret so far? Are you going to tell everyone after your scan?

Pob13 · 29/05/2018 18:04

@FireAndRain45 i have cyclizine. Really hope it works.

FoxgloveStar · 29/05/2018 18:48

@fireandrain45 I’ve told a couple of close friends but not family or work yet. As soon as I’ve got the screening results back (I’m guessing about a week after the scan) I’ll tell everyone.

mamfypuss · 30/05/2018 09:38

Anyone else getting really dizzy spells. I think it's because I'm so busy at work and not eating a lot. Need to make more effort for food x
