Vain I know - anyone recommend a mini make up kit for my hospital bag?

I want to put a little something in there so I can freshen up ready for photos! But I don't want to stick my current make up in there as I'm going to need it in the next few weeks. I just want to have my bag packed and ready so wondering if anyone can recommend a little kit of mascara, lipgloss, blusher that's not too expensive that I can stick in my bag?

ahhh, bless yer. what optimism

I mean looking ready for photos. What's wrong with anaemic and off one's tits on drugs like the rest of us?

Nbg · 13/05/2007 15:39

No.7 usually do some little kits.

It would be the last thing on my mind though

i just took my make up bag in , as it is always in my handbag,. which i remembered to take ! along with a hand held fan, which was more useful than the make up!

bumperlicious · 13/05/2007 15:41

Let me have my delusions - and an excuse to go and buy some new make up

ROFL!

Sorry, save your money for breast pads and control pants.

I bought my first ever set of eyelash curlers when I was 38 wks PG in boots in Brent Cross

the woman behind the counter LAUGHED at me and asked if I really seriously thougt I would ever have time to use them, so I do know what it is like, the lust for cosmetic enhancers at this time in one's life

Funny though, innit?

greenday · 13/05/2007 15:45

Trust me. It won't only be the last thing on your mind .. it would not even enter your mind.
Gee I admire your optimism too.

It's the little things that make us feel better suzy.

How about something like this (though no mascara).

beansprout · 13/05/2007 15:49

Is this your first?

JackieNo · 13/05/2007 15:50

And Boots have lots of others, too . Agree, though, that the idea might be nice, in reality you might not have much chance to use it.

lulumama · 13/05/2007 15:52

look, DD was born at 01.15, by 10.00, i had mascara, lip gloss and bronzer on! it took 1 minute , while she slept..it is not so beyond the realms of possibility that a new mum can get a wee bit of slap on!

lulumama · 13/05/2007 15:52

with DS, firstborn, i put make up on before i went in to be induced !!!

JackieNo · 13/05/2007 15:53

I wish I'd been together enough to think of it, but I can't even remember whether I took any in with me, though I guess I had my handbag, which generally has a certain amount in.

bumperlicious · 13/05/2007 15:53

Thanks Jackie, that's the most constructive post so far.

Yes this is my first.

oi bumper !! i took my make up bag in, with full sized products !!

Puppie · 13/05/2007 15:55

JackieNo that looks great and I think I'll get one myself! Bumperlicious I'm having my first and I'm also holding on to the dream that I will still have time for make-up after. Mind you I am a cosmeticaholic!

bumperlicious · 13/05/2007 15:55

Thanks lulu, was starting to get a bit cross with the other posts! Tbh it was people on this forum on other posts that suggested putting make up in your bag to make you feel a bit better.

I'm sure I can snatch 5 minutes to put a bit of slap on before receiving my public!

bumper, that is the noise made while holding one's pretend handbag up to one's chin, rolling eyes and pursing lips at slightly judgmental but entirely justified comment intended to subtly put others in their places.

You don't need to bung me any frazzles for that little pointer

Nbg · 13/05/2007 15:58

I'd recommend you take lip balm/gloss as you could use that during labour if you have G&A, blusher to hide the pale and knackered face and a bit of concealer and that should be good.

lulumama · 13/05/2007 15:58

i woldn;t bother with foundation, post natal wards so hot it will melt off...tinted moisturiser might be good!

bumperlicious · 13/05/2007 15:58

Sorry Lulu - didn't mean yours wasn't constructive! Appreciate the support! But I don't have a makeup bag as such, just some shelves with cosmetics strewn everywhere! And worried I won't remember to take anything that isn't packed in the bag!
