This is Mumsnet's Best Highchair. What do you think?

MumsnetReviews · 19/04/2018 14:04

We set out to find the best highchair on the market, and after weeks of extensive testing we've declared the Cosatto 3Sixti2 as our Mumsnet Best highchair 2018.

We choose our top products based on Mumsnetters’ recommendations and our Talk boards, as well as which products are being searched for most on Google. We also look at new releases, meaning we give new products a level playing field to compete on with old favourites. You can read more about our testing process here.

Take a look at our reviews page to see which highchairs we rate. Do you agree with our choices? We'd love to hear your thoughts!

I had he Cosatto 3Sixti and got rid of it before our baby was even born. It was huge and weighed a ton.

We now have a Stokke Tripp Trapp which is so much better!

Korg · 21/04/2018 14:27

It’s a truth universally acknowledged that the IKEA antilop is the best highchair around, and the Tripp trapp is a good second best for people whose aethetics are upset by the antilop. Gavel.

I've had a trip trap, a cossato and an Ikea antilop and the Ikea was head and shoulders above the others

Afternoon, folks. We've given our Reviews team a nudge so hopefully they'll pop back and be able to answer all of your questions more fully.

In the meantime though, just in case you hadn't seen it, we thought we'd post a link to this page on how we test, which is part of that big page on Best Highchairs. That might answer some of your questions about how we decided which products got which awards. The Ikea Antilop did win in the Best Budget buy category, so we're pleased to see so many of you saying you also love it.

If you scroll down on that main page, here, you can see all the winning highchairs - there are five in the category.

@hebemumsnet but looking at the how we test page it says "Unlike many other product testing sites, at Mumsnet, we have a single expert who looks at all the products within a category." so that ignores all the boards once the chairs are shortlisted and basically gives you one person's preference of all those you shortlist. There are thousands of other real life testers on your boards screaming" antilop" and it's not just best BUDGET highchair... It's the best overall!!!

Queenofthedrivensnow · 21/04/2018 16:53

It actuallys says in the op that it relates to the talk boards!!

Someone is smoking the good stuff in mumsnetHQ. Ikea is the best. Silly billy

TinyPawz · 21/04/2018 17:50

Surely majority of opinions count more than 1 solidarity tester?

Korg · 21/04/2018 18:02

I think we need another thread with the real mn recommendations. There are some things that us vipers mostly agree on.

Kpo58 · 22/04/2018 08:26

I can't help think thaN made up a whole bunch of highchair categories so that they could get paid by more companies to advertise their highchairs.

Korg · 22/04/2018 08:57

To be fair, mumsnet doesn’t fall from the sky for free: it is paid for by advertising.

EssentialHummus · 22/04/2018 11:22

I agree korg but I think there’s a balance to be struck, and for MN’s own benefit - if users learn to treat MN reviews as advertorial junk, quality prospective advertisers will be turned off. There are eleventy billion new baby/child products a year that MN can review/advertise, this one was a poor choice.

@GlitterGlassEye really believe they should share. Remember the good rules: puff puff pass🤣

Am I the only person in the whole world that hates the Antilop? Stupid legs, stupid bloody cushion, stupid useless straps.

We finally got rid of it this weekend and I’m so happy. Grin

Korg · 22/04/2018 22:42

No, underthedesk, you’re not the only antilop hater: you are the market for Tripp Trapp. It’s purpose is to exist for people who don’t like the antilop, or who balk at ugly lumps of plastic.

Scientists have been searching for years to find people for whom neither the antilop or Tripp trapp is suitable, but to no avail.

JustSeeingHowManyCharactersWeC · 22/04/2018 22:51

I hated the IKEA one but loved the Stokke Tripp Trapp. It just looks like another chair round the table.

thatsmyjoomper · 23/04/2018 06:42

I love the antilop but thought I'd have a quick google of the Tripp trapp - £174!!! And that's without the cushion, seat etc. Am I looking in the wrong place or are they really that expensive?!

NoTNoShade · 23/04/2018 07:08

I had a Tripp trapp and we stopped using it and got an antilop.

We did use the Tripp trapp once they were older though.

I used to hate it when we went anywhere and they didn't have Ikea highchairs,as they were usually dirty and complicated.

UnderTheDesk · 23/04/2018 07:27

MerryMarigold · 23/04/2018 10:42

I think the point being made here is that the 'criteria' for best highchair is clearly who paid the most money to MN. That's not good. Yes, MN needs to advertise to pay for itself, but not like this.
