Gush of blood at 12 weeks? Terrified!

Hi everyone.

I'm 11+5 with my first child. About an hour and a half ago I stood up from the sofa and felt a 'gush' down there. Initially thinking I'd wet myself, I went to the bathroom only to discover bright red blood! Sad

Over the next few minutes it reduced to spotting, and now it SEEMS to have stopped. I'm not in any pain whatsoever and I'm still feeling nauseous and my boobs are still sore, but I'm terrified I'm losing the baby Sad

I tried calling the antenatal clinic at my local hospital and my midwife, but both lines were busy. I then called 111 and am still waiting for a call back. I'm terrified I'm having a miscarriage Sad

Any positive stories about bleeding in pregnancy? Thanks Flowers

Hi all! Thank you so much for all of your love and support, it's so greatly appreciated.

Well, we are thrilled to announce that our rainbow baby girl Scarlett arrived safely (albeit unexpectedly!) at 3:30pm on Thursday 14th March, weighing a dinky 6lbs 6oz despite being almost a week overdue!

I started getting contractions around Wednesday lunctime and by Thursday morning they were agonising. I was sure that I must have been fairly far along in my labour, but the hospital kept telling me I couldn't be as my contractions weren't close enough together.

I eventually persuaded them to at least let me come up and be examined, and lo and behold I was 9cm dilated! Shock Scarlett was born 45 minutes after arrival, and the only painkiller I had was my partner's hand! No time for anything else! Not exactly the tranquil water birth I'd hoped for, but she is so worth it Grin

Can't believe my rainbow is finally here ❤

And thank you so much for coming back and updating - I’m sure it will give hope to and be a help to many other women going through what you’ve been through Flowers

Congratulations! What a lovely update, exactly what I needed to read today - I'm currently 10 weeks pregnant after a miscarriage in September and it's so hard to keep a lid on the anxiety, the hospital haven't even sent me a date for the 12 week scan yet! Fantastic to hear your good news, and Scarlett is an absolute sweetheart, well done!

Silversky70 · 17/03/2019 07:05

Congratulations, she’s beautiful. It’s so nice to see a happy ending, I had a missed miscarriage last year and currently almost 11 weeks with our rainbow & the anxiety is so bad so this was lovely to read x

Roomba · 17/03/2019 08:22

She's a beauty - congratulations Flowers

6lb 6oz is a good weight - exactly what my DS2 was and I bled all the way through my pregnancy with him every few weeks. He was fine, my nerves were not! He's a massive 6 year old now who is mistaken for being 7 or 8 often, so they don't always stay small Grin.
