Spotting during early pregnancy?

I'm 6 weeks tomorrow and have been spotting brown discharge for a week now. After 2 days I went to a&e because of previous ectopic. I was given a scan and ectopic ruled out, but spotting has continued. It is very light and can only be seen when I wipe. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this and if it's quite normal. I'm terrified of another MC.

Hi Maedoula, for some women this is normal during pregnancy. If it persists keep seeing your doctor.

@ajasko yeah spoke to dr and midwife, they said it could be normal and it may not be but to watch out for heavy bright red bleeding...Guess I won't know until my scan tomorrow.....Dreading it!

Hi, hope this gives hope to others - after a week of brown/pink light spotting on and off, I finally had a scan. Lovely little heartbeat and blob, measuring at 1.2cm/7+4.

It's my 6th pregnancy in total (horrendous history with one beautiful little 2yo girl/demon who keeps me going!) so the anxiety has been (and will continue to be) high but this forum/thread has been a lifesaver of help and support.

At least I get a day off from worrying today although no doubt it will be back tomorrow! Sending out good vibes and thoughts to everyone xxx

@jmfw34 that’s great news!! I bet that’s such a relief!! It’s been 8 days since my last scan and I’m still worrying :( I think we’re paying for a private scan but not for another 17 days as we said we’d wait until 10 weeks :( I hope the worrying stays away for a while for you x

@maedoula good luck for your scan tomorrow! How many weeks will you be? My fingers will be crossed for you.

@lmj25 ah ok, I’ll have to grow some balls and go to the doctors I think! Just not liking the thought of having to do a swab (which I’m assuming it’ll be). Especially if it’s a male doctor, I’m funny like that, I’ve had so many internal scans from my mcs and still can’t do silly things like that!

7 weeks and brown spotting is getting heavier. It is still pretty light but any change is alarming at the moment.

I have a scan tomorrow and doctor’s appointment the day after.

This thread has been very reassuring. Thank you all!

@AppleCucoon best of luck for the scan tomorrow. The unknown is so difficult as it just can’t be processed.

I’m 9 + 4 and in the same boat as you. Scan tomorrow and I’ve no idea at all which way it’ll swing and how I’ll feel either way!

@AppleCucoon and @Maedoula - how did you both get on?

Mine was the best I could have hoped for. Bang on date and baby looking well. No explanation for the bleeding. Still panicking every time I see blood but having to remember it’s coming from me not baby and isn’t a cause for concern (because that’s an easy thing to bear in mind Grin)

I really hope all went as well as can be for you both too xx

I was holding off from saying this on the thread incase you guys didn't get good news...but seeing as all seems to be well for you...yes my scan went well thank god..saw lil bean and heartbeat. Seems as though the spotting wasn't all doom and gloom x

Ahh ladies. It's been so reassuring to read this post. I'm 5+5 and today had pink tinted cm. I had an mmc in Jan, and had a tiny bit of pink cm around the same time and it was my only signal that something was a bit off.
I have a scan booked at Epu on 27th for a reassurance scan because of previous loss. Not sure if I should call Epu tomorrow to see if they can bring it forward. I'm worried before 6 weeks there's not too much to see so it won't be too reassuring either way!! Help. Panicking!! 😭

It may be late implantation bleeding I also had abit of that Or a slight infection. I went to epu each time I had it just for reassurance more than anything as I was sending myself crazy with worry I know how you feel x

@cakelaur I’ve had pink spotting for 3 weeks and I’ve had a scan and there was a heartbeat. I have another scan on Thursday as I’m still spotting. I would phone the EPU, your so close to 6 weeks they’d see something. I had a scab at 4 weeks 5 days and there was nothing and then at 6 weeks 3 days and there was a tiny bean and a heartbeat. My fingers are crossed for you xx
