Reduced Movement 37 Weeks...waiting...

Hello,

Currently doing the "lay on my side for 2 hours" thing as advised by a midwife when I phoned up worried about reduced movement. I'm 37+3 and got the feeling they were super busy when I phoned :(

Half an hour in and haven't felt a thing and getting super super worried! I'm not sure if I've felt little flutters but they are just cushioned now due to the baby being so big?

Has anyone any experience of this?

Thanks!

Hi everyone, still no update I'm afraid! I guess this is the downside of me putting my foot down and saying it wasn't right...now been in hospital almost 24 hours and 3 doses of postrin in and no joy, still 1cm!

I am getting quite down now and frustrated and haven't managed much sleep at all so quite emotionally drained. Next check up at 11 and DP has just left for the night so going to try and get some sleep. This wasn't the labour I was wanting but just goes to show you can never plan these things :) x

Rest up lovely, you really need it! You've had a tough 24 hours. (Btw sorry for calling you April; for some reason my brain computed your user name as that! I guess it's because you're due/having your baby in April!Smile)

BrutusMcDogface · 01/04/2018 18:56

Is your little one moving again?Flowers

TheImprobableGirl · 01/04/2018 19:03

Labours are a bit funny like that,,, never do what you expect! Glad you are meeting LO soon, I had an Easter Sunday baby (4 years ago!) and it was lovely Grin

sparklepops123 · 01/04/2018 19:04

Feel for you, my first was a very long drawn out induction. Then everybody else in the ward seemed to of had their baby's and I was still sat there waiting! You'll get there... promise. 💐

Poptart4 · 01/04/2018 19:05

Hope everything goes well for you op

spacecadet48 · 01/04/2018 19:07

It's tough, i remember a very long labour with dC2 and left in hospital by myself, mainly bed bound too which didn't help. My little one arrived and i didn't even have the energy to hold her. Exhausting...so your DH is going to have to be on hand to help you recover and rest. Will all be worth it though...

MaverickSnoopy · 01/04/2018 19:13

I can somewhat relate after going in to be induced and having to wait in hospital for 24 hours before actually being induced. It was painstaking, bit to be induced and have it take so long must be soul destroying.

I'm not in your shoes so don't know what it's like but is there any way you can treat it as a hospital stay rather than being induced? At least until things get going. Do you have a tablet that you can get Netflix on? That would help enormously. Do try and sleep if you can. I say that as someone who simply cannot sleep in a hospital and spent 3 days awake after not being able to sleep in hospital.

strawberrypenguin · 01/04/2018 19:15

Aww I feel for you. My first was a long induction. Still you're in the right place and being looked after. Hope things progress for you soon.

YearOfYouRemember · 01/04/2018 19:17

Good luck with everything. I went from 3 to 10c, to here in 3 contractions. There's no telling when baby will come.

3littlebadgers · 01/04/2018 19:19

Hang in there my last was induced on a Thursday night and born just before midday on the Sunday. I was shattered and emotional but he was worth every minute of it. He is now a happy little 2 year old and brings so
Much joy x

M0reGinPlease · 01/04/2018 19:31

We're all here for you OP! Keep your eyes on the prize and hang in there x

CoperCabana · 01/04/2018 20:12

Is your baby moving ok now? Hope everything starts to move quickly.

twinone · 01/04/2018 20:18

Both of mine took 50 odd hours from the first prostin, to making an appearance.
Do try and get some sleep, you could be in for the long haul.
But it'll all be worth it Smile

Pigletthedog · 01/04/2018 20:19

Ah bless you OP. Chin up, try and rest if you can (easy to say I know). It's a real shame your OH can't stay with you, bet that doesn't do much for your emotional wellbeing Sad.

CoperCabana · 01/04/2018 20:37

Also meant to say, are they inducing you because they are concerned at all? Because if so, after no progression after 3 pessaries, i had to have an emergency c section. Just to warn you.

I am obviously over invested here but I am worried that you have not had a scan and they don't seem to be monitoring you?

Tell me to bog off if inappropriate.

Wowzel · 01/04/2018 20:39

I went in at 40+4 with reduced movement and got induced too - absolutely nothing happened for me with the pessaries, I ended up with the full works - Synto drip, epidural, them breaking my waters and then ultimately a EMCS 5.5 days after they started my induction.

I don't blame you for feeling down, i was so frustrated that it didn't work - I honestly thought pessary would go in and then baby soon!

Get some sleep, you'll appreciate it later xx
