Hello

I thought I'd start a new thread for people who have are due late Nov/ early Dec

A bit about me...

I'm 28 have been married nearly 2 years and we were very lucky and managed to fall pregnant first month TTC...

I've self referred on the NHS website and am awaiting my booking in appointment 🙂

What's your story? ❤️

That's great thanks @AnotherOriginalUsername

@ellsharks I'm just worried that my scan at 11 weeks on Friday will be too early to detect whether the nuchal fluid is high. That I'll announce to family that we're having a healthy baby, when there may be issues that can't be detected because I'm too early (does that make sense). Please don't let my anxieties affect your experience though, I'm usually a very laid back person but since pregnancy I'm worried about everything!!

ellsharks · 08/05/2018 13:36

@greengooner Ohh okay. I understand that. Yeah I'm aware of that but I have pushed it to the back of my head and just focusing on excitement. They SHOULD be able to detect it at your private scan, as my NHS trust advise the Nuchal scan from 11 - 13. I know all Trusts do it differently but the science remains the same!

I can't wait for people to know as my partner's friends know I would never go pub and get a coke, and I've avoided them all like the plague! haha.

HanahMarie · 08/05/2018 13:44

I've already told quite a few people as I really struggle to keep secrets - especially my own and agree with @Emma198 that if worst we're to happen and there's an issue then at least people know and can support you rather than having to start the story with 'well I thought I was pregnant but...' as an opener...

My 1st scan is in about an hour - so many emotions flying around my brain today it's unreal - I just pray to god that everything is fine and baby is developing well and as it should - I can't wait to see finally!!! Am exactly 12 weeks (yesterday) if my period maths are correct so fingers cross we can get a good image 🤞🏼😳👶🏼

GreenGooner · 08/05/2018 13:46

Haha that's what I've been doing and I just hate feeling all secretive. I've avoided a few events as everyone knows I'd be the first one on the fizz!! Although my husband is enjoying having a designated driver and we're saving a fortune 😂

I need to tell my friends soon as they'll all be thinking there's something seriously wrong with me!!

GreenGooner · 08/05/2018 13:49

@HanahMarie eeek so excited for you and fingers crossed all is well!! Please update us afterwards! The scans are starting and I'm so excited for everyone ❤️

I've not had my NHS scan date yet so I'm on the doorstop each morning waiting for the postman 😂

Emma198 · 08/05/2018 13:51

My NHS scan came through this morning 24 May 😭😭😭. I'll be 12+6. I had one at 7 weeks but it just seems like a lifetime away!

GreenGooner · 08/05/2018 13:55

It's like being stuck in limbo isn't it waiting for the scan. Time feels like it's going backwards 😭 the days are dragging!!

I only had my booking in appointment last Friday and the midwife was shocked that I'd had to wait so long! It's gonna be a long 9 months 😂😂😂

AnotherOriginalUsername · 08/05/2018 14:03

Well, our decorating has come to an abrupt halt whilst we wait for an emergency plumber....

...because someone tried to secure a loose floor board and went straight through the water pipe underneath.

Is divorce cheaper than an emergency plumbing call out do we think?

Emma198 · 08/05/2018 14:11

Shock oh no! I imagine plumber will still be cheaper 😂 but what a pain. Mine is always doing stupid stuff out of rushing and being heavy handed and it's never his fault. I get "oh well I'm sorry that that box was where I wanted to walk! It's not my fault I didn't see it!" Or "well I apologise the paint was runnier than I thought so I didn't cover the carpet, it's not my fault this paint is unreasonably runny!"

AnotherOriginalUsername · 08/05/2018 14:22

@Emma198 oh mine owns up to his cockups which I think is worse. He'll spend days moaning about this and moping around. I've already had "I'm a failure as a man" Hmm

Emma198 · 08/05/2018 14:27

Aw bless him. Me and my husband have a real disagreement on when things are an accident. I think that if you do something even if it's a total accident you should apologise, e.g. he accidentally whacked me on the head with a curtain pole when he was putting it up. He believes if it's an accident you shouldn't say sorry. So I spend my life saying 'even though it was an accident it would be polite to say sorry' and he's forever saying 'don't apologise, it was an accident' and I reply 'yes I know it was but i still stood on your toe/trapped your finger etc and even though I didn't mean to I still need to say sorry'. Each trying to prove our points (I'm clearly right!)

ellsharks · 08/05/2018 14:31

@emma198 I agree with you haha.

AnotherOriginalUsername · 08/05/2018 14:33

@Emma198 you're definitely right on that one. If you did something purposely, why would you apologise?!

Plumber is here. Pipes are being removed. It sounds expensive (I'm sat in the bedroom with the dog who is trying to kill the poor bloke)

HanahMarie · 08/05/2018 14:35

I've only recently got my guy doing any DIY - tends to be mostly my job - but we recently decided to do some painting together and quickly worked out that both of us trying to paint the same room was a bad idea - its like when you're both trying to cook at the same time..."get out of my kitchen!" 🙈

HanahMarie · 08/05/2018 14:36

In other news...

Currently sat in the waiting room at the hospital - I am so nervous and need to wee so badly!!!!

Emma198 · 08/05/2018 14:37

I knew it!

@Hannah I can relate. Those lovely images of a heavy pregnant lady in dungarees, a scarf round her hair and a big smile whilst her and her husband decorate the nursery together and clearly total fiction 😂

Emma198 · 08/05/2018 14:38

Good luck! Don't wee!

AnotherOriginalUsername · 08/05/2018 14:41

@HanahMarie good luck! Is this your 12 week scan?

GreenGooner · 08/05/2018 14:48

Haha to all these! My husband just refuses as he knows he'll cock it up. Que saying he'd rather pay someone to do it properly. Then nothing ever getting done as we can't afford 🙄

AnotherOriginalUsername · 08/05/2018 14:55

Plumber has been and gone, can't finish laying the carpet as we need a new floorboard rolls eyes

Husband has gone off to get it. Good job I checked his measurements as he was 590mm out Angry

Emma198 · 08/05/2018 14:57

Hahaha oh no @another. I bet you wish you could have a gin!

AnotherOriginalUsername · 08/05/2018 15:06

@Emma198 I do. And I haven't touched alcohol for over 10 years!!

AnotherOriginalUsername · 08/05/2018 15:10

GP just got back to me with a message that there are no antihistamines that I scan safely take. I could actually cry. It's going to be a tough spring/summer/autumn 😭

Emma198 · 08/05/2018 15:44

Strangely enough I'm usually really bad by now but it hasn't developed! Can you use the stuff you put round your nostrils?

AnotherOriginalUsername · 08/05/2018 16:02

I've been using topical stuff, it's doing nothing. My allergies are pretty bad, I've seen an immunologist in the past and usually take prescription antihistamines all year round. Walked the dog yesterday and must have touched something as my hand swelled and the skin has blistered
