@snowy1982 thanks. Atm work is so busy. I am waiting for may one week off. Hopefully will have rest then. Thanks x

Anastasiakr · 17/05/2018 11:42

Is there anyone from burnley blackburn area who is due early October?? 😂

Ktn35 · 17/05/2018 17:51

Yes @niclw it's anterior ... I know I should be patient but I'm not!! 😊

niclw · 17/05/2018 19:15

@Ktn35 I'm not surprised that you are getting impatient with it. I'd be the same.

Had a very entertaining lesson with year 11 this afternoon. The boys had guessed I'm pregnant but didn't want to ask. There were lots of 'go on you ask', 'no you ask'. I made them squirm before I told them. The girls were as entertained as me.

Ktn35 · 17/05/2018 21:16

Mine are not so subtle and asked weeks ago!

surreygirl1987 · 17/05/2018 22:56

I don't think even my sixth formers have a clue - they go on study leave this week and I've already been given lots of bottles of wine as thankyou presents! 😂

Katjolo · 18/05/2018 21:08

How is everyone feeling? Ten minutes walk and I'm out of breath! Hadn't told people at work really up until today as someone rightly suspected and asked a colleague of mine. Strange but nice to be out in the open 😀

Gracey88 · 18/05/2018 21:37

@Katjolo glad it's out now & I understand how you feel I get out of breath so easily and I went to a water aerobics class on Tuesday and realised I'm really out of shape. Is anyone else exceeding or trying to keep fit? I hear it helps with labour

Katjolo · 18/05/2018 21:45

@Gracey88 I start yoga in two weeks. Looking forward to it. I used to love Zumba and step aerobics. Not sure I can keep up now lol 😂

ichifanny · 18/05/2018 22:48

I’m knackered I’m 22 weeks and considering going off sick at work my hips keep cracking and I possibly have SPD again and sciatica been stuck lying or sitting on certain positions a few times this week

snowy1982 · 19/05/2018 06:26

@gracey88, I am attempting to keep fit, I am still walking the dogs, though I can’t go as far or as fast with them as I normally would do and some days I just don’t have the energy to take them out at all, and I’ve been going to yoga.

Still getting out of breath and I don’t think my fitness levels are good enough to help with labour

surreygirl1987 · 20/05/2018 16:14

I'm 21 weeks and finally after months of feeling awful I have my energy back:) I've been swimming, aerobic, walking loads and playing tennis. Hope this energy lasts for a while! I do feel much less fit overall though and won't even bother trying to jog or anything too strenuous.

sososotired · 20/05/2018 16:49

@ichifanny I'm 22 weeks too and am suffering, I'm tired feel dreadful like I'm permanently under the weather I just signed my self off sick for tomorrow and Tuesday!

Ktn35 · 21/05/2018 17:54

Hey! GP just prescribed me ibuprofen gel for my terrible sciatica but I googled it and many sites say it's a no no... any experts here?! X

itallhappensforareason · 22/05/2018 08:09

@Ktn35 not an expert but many medications will say not suitable for use in pregnancy as standard, but that doesn't mean a doctor can't prescribe them if they consider the benefits to outweigh the risks. This is taken from the NHS site:

Ibuprofen shouldn't be used when you're 30 or more weeks pregnant, unless it's on the advice of a doctor.

SeattleKate · 22/05/2018 12:37

I got recommended a great book: Expecting Better. The author reviews the actual studies that all of the diet/exercise/sleep recommendations are based on. Some make sense, others, not so much! She aims to give you all the information and let you decide what you’re comfortable with.

Just got to the section on exercise, her conclusion is general exercise doesn’t make much of a difference for labour but pelvic floor exercises and yoga are definitely beneficial! I’d definitely recommend the book, very readable!

itallhappensforareason · 23/05/2018 11:45

My auntie gave us a load of books a few years ago 'in preparation' for us one day having a baby. They were promptly moved to the loft for safe keeping; might have to get them down now and have a read!

Also keep meaning to do some pelvic floor exercises but it's one of those things I just never get round to.... I have been trying to clench and unclench whilst sat at my desk throughout the day though to try and strengthen the muscles there. No idea if it will do any good.

Been and had my whooping cough vaccination this morning, one more thing ticked off the list. 25w appointment with midwife tomorrow.

snowy1982 · 24/05/2018 07:54

@seattlekate is expecting better worth getting? I bought how to grow a baby and push it out and so far (I’m reading it in stages) I’m not finding it overly informative and am thinking of getting another book

SeattleKate · 24/05/2018 08:17

@snow1982, I really like it, it’s less of a week by week sort of bible book than a lot of others but instead is organized by topic, ie, painkillers during birth, medication while pregnant, recommendations on what you’re allowed to do etc. I found it really useful because I always want to know WHY I’m being told something and then to make my own decision based on all the information. It’s probably a good complement to a more week by week book which will give instructions but not tell you why! I have what to expect when you’re expecting and found it fairly useless apart from as a sort of, tick, this is happening this week.

surreygirl1987 · 25/05/2018 20:16

Yeh I read Expecting Better too and it was really readable and quite useful. It's available on Kindle.

surreygirl1987 · 25/05/2018 20:17

For others who are 22 weeks, how much weight have you put on? I just weighed myself for the first time in ages and am freaking out!

itallhappensforareason · 25/05/2018 20:36

I'm not planning on weighing myself at any point during this pregnancy! What will be will be and I'll deal with it afterwards.

SeattleKate · 25/05/2018 21:34

I’m just past 22 weeks and I’ve gained about 2-3kg. Was quite ill until 16 weeks so only really started gaining in the last couple weeks.

niclw · 26/05/2018 08:25

I'm 24 weeks. I initially lost 7lb. Since 14 weeks I've put that 7lb back on plus another 1lb. I've been trying to be really careful as I was already overweight when I became pregnant.

Friendsinhighplaces · 27/05/2018 09:45

I'm 24wks and have just weighed myself, solely for your benefit! I've gained 7kg. Don't stress. I started at a low healthy weight and am aware I've been really hungry recently so am not surprised I have gained a fair amount but I honestly think it's still healthy. I've put it into an online pregnancy weight gain calculator and it agrees - I would really just eat sensibly, not weight yourself and not stress about it. And when I say eat sensibly I'm not denying I'll eat some rubbish reasonably regularly but most of the time it's normal/healthy food and that's what baby needs!
