I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.
MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk
If you need help in obtaining medication, phone them on:
024 7638 2020
Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy
I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.
Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

bored yes I do, Just!
Good thing too as I've been pretty ropey again the last few days, though managed not to vom this morning. Just waves of nausea

Bobbielee91 · 13/05/2018 11:37

Morning.

I seem to have gone backwards - I have been sick 8 times this morning! Another day off work and in bed for me Sad.

I hope this is a one off - don’t want to end up back in hospital!

doesthisnamelookgoodonme · 13/05/2018 11:42

Thanks @Boredoftryingusernames

06DECEMBER2018 · 13/05/2018 12:51

got admitted into hospital again 3rd time.. constipation came unberable and sickness was worse throughout the night currently sat on a drip craving sausages and spag hoops. 😑😂 i was just wondering if anyone has tried to claim for esa with hypermesis with me unable to work through it dont know if its worth asking my doctor xx

LucindaE · 13/05/2018 14:06

DECEMBER Oh no, poor you. They are probably having to treat the constipation with that flushing out thing? I hope you feel better soon. It's very depressing having to keep going back in. Hold on; things will get better - they did even for Kalidasa who suffered almost worse than anyone on this thread. It certainly seems a good idea to try any source of finance. I used to know such things as a union rep, but that was over twenty years ago. I hope someone can advise you.
Bobblelee That is disapointing. Did you say you were on a good anti a cid, and cyclizine besides Ondansetron, or is silly Mother Hen getting mixed up?
Bored Great advice for doesthislookgoodonme. May I add my unecessary endorsement? I hope the relapse has decreased?

bored I am glad you are not vomiting too much even if you still feel rough. How are you getting on at work?
Sorry you are feeling so rough bobbie and december. It will improve I am sure but it feels endless when you are at the worst stage. december I tried to claim esa in my last pregnancy. I didn’t get it but it was only because I was already over the minimum income threshold. It did mean that I got national insurance stamps while I was out of work though. I’m not quite sure what those are for but I think possibly of some importance to getting a state pension in the future.
I am having a better day today so doing a bit of a clear out as I want to declutter before the baby comes. I found a portable DVD player I bought as a Christmas present and forgot about.

Bobbielee91 · 13/05/2018 17:00

lucinda I went to see the doctor as cyclizine seemed to stopped working for me and she wasn’t happy to try me with anything else so I was put back on Omperazole and that is it.
It is so disappointing as I was beginning to enjoy my pregnancy and now I’m back to being bedbound and in pain Sad.
On the plus side, I can now feel little man move around Smile

Foodylicious · 13/05/2018 17:04

Bobbielee91 can you make an appt with another doc and maybe take them some information?
It might be worth a call to the hg support?

Foodylicious Great advice for Bobbielee - I can't add a thing.
I am still feeling annoyed at that pharmacist who treated you so officiously at Boots!
I hope everyone feels a bit better soon.

lucinda trying to decide if I need to make an appt with a doc to get Promethazine or if my midwife will sort it if I ask her.

I have just bought my own so far, but have mentioned I am taking it.

Getting an appt is a pita. And whilst we have a walk in service every day, I could do without the 1-2hr+ wait when I'm meant to be at work.

Though the way things are going I might be off by the end of the week.

I'm just exhausted. Symptoms are on the up again and I have a cold and the start of a mouth full of tiny ulcers.

The other full time nurse in my team has been off sick for 5 weeks so I've had an extra 2/3 work on top of my caseload, and she's not back for at least two more weeks...

LucindaE · 13/05/2018 20:23

Foodylicious Oh dear, I know how nurses don't want to let patients down - but you are too ill deal with such a workload. Can they get an agency nurse in if you go sick? It's a pain about the long wait for an appointment to get meds, but you certainly need regular meds. As I always say - boringly - a good anti acid can make a huge difference, too.

OP posts:
Foodylicious · 13/05/2018 20:57

No, no chance of agency. It's a very specific job in a small community team.

My heartburn is def worse so thinking about asking for omeprazole or lansoprazole.
If one better than the other in pg do you know?

Foodylicious · 13/05/2018 20:59

Ranitidine is just not as effective last few days.
Lots of heart burn, and half voms/wretching this eve.

06DECEMBER2018 · 14/05/2018 08:25

its giving me great relief keep reading posts knowing that im not the only one suffering, sometimes i feel like im going off my head with hypermesis and feel like my family and friends dont realise how awful it is. ive woke up this morning drinking and eating little bits however still dont feel better still on a drip and still constipated they keep giving me stuff to try and go it just wont budge me.. i dont know if i will be home today.. last night a girl on the ward had a miss carriage she was 12 weeks not stopped thinking about her and how hard it must be.😭😭👼🏻

Elephantgrey · 14/05/2018 18:15

Hi everyone. I had my baby on Friday! He was 2 weeks early and took us all by surprise not least the midwife. I nearly had him in the hospital toilet because my labour was so quick. He weighed 6lb11oz and is tiny but really healthy. I feel better since birth than I did the whole time I was pregnant.

Foodylicious · 14/05/2018 18:28

Congratulations Elephantgrey

Well done on the speedy Labour, hope you are resting and recovering well FlowersCakeWine

Hotchocolate86 · 14/05/2018 18:55

Congratulations on your little boy elephantgrey

nailsathome · 14/05/2018 20:04

Congratulations elephant enjoy the cuddles

bitzy12 · 14/05/2018 21:39

Aww he is the same weight as my son when he was born, I bet he is tiny, congratulations @Elephantgrey 💙

I love it when people come and post on this thread when they've had their babies, it's so nice to see everyone's happy news. And maybe more importantly, it reminds us that there is light at the end of this long horrible tunnel. It will soon be us coming on here to post that we've had our babies :-) x

LucindaE · 14/05/2018 22:14

ElephantGrey What lovely news. Great you had such a quick birth.
Thank you so much for your happy message. Seven pounds is surely a fne weight for a baby two weeks early? Grin Flowers Star Brew. I am glad you are feeling good again.
Foodylicious Sorry that there can be no help from an agency. I do think you should put your health first. GP's often recommend Omprazole. I haven't actually heard of the other one!
DECEMBER Poor you. I hope they get it sorted out soon. Have they got any plans for different meds? I am so sorry you feel so down, and no wonder. Things will get better. It does make one isolated they way family and friends usually don't really understand.

I've not really been on here as managed to function these last few weeks after I got to the second trimester. Was praying all was ok - was throwing up maybe twice a week but ok on my anti sickness tablets.
Today I woke up at 4 am throwing up and only stopped at 7. Managed to choke down a tablet and some cereal but feeling absolutely rotten now and have had to ring in sick to work 😓
I should feel grateful I had some weeks of reprieve when others don't even get that but right now I'm wallowing in sickness and self pity.
Hope everyone's doing ok!

Bobbielee91 · 15/05/2018 12:28

booandbumpp I am the exact same as you. Seemed to do great for about 10 days (only being sick once in the morning but no pain) - then I had an horrendous relapse on Sunday and ended up off work!

I am feeling okay again now but just keep thinking that it will happen again.

Fingers crossed for everyone (including myself) that you get better 🤞🏼.

booandbumpp · 15/05/2018 12:39

@Bobbielee91 it's awful isn't it!! I'm hoping it's a mini relapse and I won't end up as bad. Managed to have a salad too so I'm hoping I'm perking up and will be ok tomorrow for work.
Fingers crossed for you too! X
