Kirta I think I tried swaddling once daytime but it didn't work. It looks like she knew it was daytime. I have to try to swaddle her again daytime and see maybe it changed. She would not settle skin to skin or in arms either. Kind of running out of options. I bet I just have to put up with crying for the rest of the days as long as she can sleep at nights. Like others say, hope couple of weeks later she will change and become more quiet.
Regarding medical reasons for induction, I've heard that a normal pregnancy can take anywhere from 37 to 42 weeks. No induction is required up to 42 weeks if mum and baby feel ok. After 42 weeks baby grows bigger and bigger, waters reduce, ambilical cord may not provide enough oxygen and nutrients. Also the baby may defecate into waters polluting them and creating a risk of infection. Not sure if it's all true but this is what I've heard. For that reason induction is recommended.
HarryHarry hope you'll have your little one in your arms soon. I know induction is not the most ideal way to give birth but nowadays most of women go through it. For me waters went and contractions started themselves on the day of induction but still in the end they had to put me on a drip as the contractions were not close enough. Hopefully, balloon induction will work for you.

@yustynne don't worry about trying to teach your baby about night and day. How old is she? Babies can't differentiate properly between night and day until close to three months. During that period (the fourth trimester) anything that will calm her at any time of the day is worth a shot Grin

Loosemoose28 · 18/04/2018 09:57

@yustynne baby is doing everything she needs to help establish your supply.

Loosemoose28 · 18/04/2018 10:00

SORRY that sent too early.

She is behavinng very normally. Lots of cuddles, lots of boob, and as soon as she does nap you need to as well. Sleep deprivation is hideous but this bit only lasts a little while although feels forever. X. X

Hi all, Joshua Atticus arrived at 1720 yesterday weighing 7lb 7. C-section went well, but I'm struggling with the recovery, every time I stand up I get super dizzy, might have something to do with the 600ml blood I lost in surgery! catheter and cannula have been removed and I'm keeping on top of the pain meds. Breastfeeding is getting there, it's been hard with the cannula in but he seems to be able to get a decent latch, I just don't know how much he is actually getting from me. Had 2 dirty nappies so far, but no wet ones.

Hope you are all well!

Kirta · 18/04/2018 13:09

Congratulations @amysaurus87 ! Hope you're feeling better soon! Love the name Smile

Strongarms27 · 18/04/2018 13:14

amysaurus87 what a gorgeous name! Congratulations!!

sirlee66 · 18/04/2018 14:20

Due date was yesterday and my waters broke this morning!!!! Please cross fingers that I go into labour soon!

AnnaMadden · 18/04/2018 17:06

@Amy congratulations! Blood loss is an issue...I lost 1200ml! Just take it easy and look after yourself.

@sirlee how exciting! Hope you're not waiting too much longer for newborn snuggles

Rae2017 · 18/04/2018 18:34

Congrats @amysaurus. Lovely name. I gave birth by section last week and he didn't do first wet nappy until 30 hours old. I was reslly worried but midwives didn't seem concerned. Hope the dizziness subsides. I found taking painkillers every time they offered and getting out of bed just to stand for a minute or two every hour or so

Congratulations amysaurus87 on your new arrival! Look after yourself and enjoy your little one.
sirlee66 it's very exciting! Hopefully soon you will hold your bundle of joy in your arms.
Loosemoose I noticed my milk supply dropped today and I'm afraid my little one will not get enough and just stay hungry. Good news that midwife is coming to visit us tomorrow so I'll be able to address this issue. For now I'm trying to feed her more often and from both sides to increase the supply. Hopefully, it will work.
Fieau she is just 10 days old and would not settle on days.

Bez9087 · 19/04/2018 04:42

Congratulations @amy hope the pain isn’t as bad today. Hope little one and you are getting on okay.
Hope everyone else is okay? How you all getting on?

HarryHarry · 19/04/2018 20:34

Hi everyone I haven't had a chance to catch up on the thread, just wanted to say that our baby boy was born yesterday by emergency C-section after 3 days trying every possible method of induction (pessary gel, balloon catheter, IV drip). He is probably going in the neonatal unit for a couple of weeks as he is having a few problems but otherwise he is perfect.

HarryHarry · 19/04/2018 20:35

*going to be in the neonatal unit

Tropicana123 · 19/04/2018 21:37

@harryharry congratulations on ur baby boy ! Hope he's back with u asap !

Going in tmoro morning to be induced Grin

Bez9087 · 19/04/2018 21:45

Congratulations @harry. Hope he’s okay and the problems aren’t too problematic. Try take it easy with having a section. I know easier said than done when you have a baby in neonatal. I had my isobelle in it and was tough trying to get down to see her whilst recovering.
Good luck @tropicana hope you have newborn snuggles very soon

Yustynne · 19/04/2018 22:42

HarryHarry wish you and your newborn baby all the best in recovery, take it easy and take care of yourself.
Tropicana hopefully your induction will go smooth!

amysaurus87 · 19/04/2018 23:53

@Harry congratulations on your new arrival, fingers crossed all is ok and you can have your new born snuggles soon. I'd echo comments on here, take it easy after the section and from a personal note, get some sleep.

I didn't sleep at all the night Joshua was born, too busy staring at him and feeding him! But Wednesday night was a bad one, i didnt sleep at all and joshua was refusing to latch properly this carried on into Thursday morning to the point a HCA was going to force me to formula feed him as he was so hungry

I burst into tears as I just felt like it totally failed my son, enter the most amazing midwife who set us a plan...currently typing one handed with little one on the boob and hubby snoring in the chair!

This motherhood and breastfeeding business is hard work!

amysaurus87 · 19/04/2018 23:56

Meant to add, we are still in the hospital as feeding was not established, so they wouldn't discharge me. Should be going home tomorrow!

Tropicana123 · 20/04/2018 00:39

@Bez9087
@Yustynne
Thank you me too Flowers

Rae2017 · 20/04/2018 01:20

Hi @amysaurus. Your first 2 nights completely sound like my first 2. I stayed in hospital for 4 nights for my choice until i was confident with feeding. The 2nd night was horrendous to the point at 5am midwife suggested taking him to give a top up of formula from cup. I was so sleep deprived (again spent 1st night staring at him rather than sleeping) so I said yes. Burst into tears as I he was wheeled away and felt like such a failure. Was worried that it would be end of breastfeeding journey. But he came back 10 mins later content and slept for 3 hours. We then had a breastfeeding team come and work with us the next day and I felt so much better. But yes the breastfeeding is so difficult and I find each day a new challenge. I ended up expressing and.feeding a top up of breastmilk from a cup to finish his feeds off. And now at home little one latches on so much better. Phew! Didn't realise how tricky this would be!

Rae2017 · 20/04/2018 01:22

@harryharry congratulations. Hope you and your little one are recovering well.
@yustynne hope all goes well with induction tomorrow and you're cuddling your little one soon 1

Rae2017 · 20/04/2018 01:23

Sorry meant @tropicana! Sleep deprivation is playing its part tonight

Tropicana123 · 20/04/2018 01:58

@Rae2017 thank you ! Hope u get a sleep soon too
