Not sure if anyone will remember but I had a horrible long drawn out miscarriage over Christmas.

Found out I was pregnant again 2 weeks ago, quite unexpected but tested and got dark positive line.

I cant remember the date of my period in march but remember it being quite early.

Anyway, had a slight amount of brown blood last week so went for early reassurance scan today.

Scan revealed (just like last time) a tiny 1cm empty sac. No yolk sac, no fetal pole.

Am I right to lose hope completely ? If this was a viable pregnancy how would I have been producing enough HCG for a dark positive over 2 weeks ago?

I have had blood taken today and will go back in on weds for 48 hr hcg test.

This is SHIT - am totally gutted, moreso than last time

no need to thank, pecka

i wish some of my bolshiness would rub off on you, so that you push for another scan sooner

i'm afraid i've made a real pest of myself at epus in the past

but tbh i don't regret it - at least i had answers quickly

same here - if you go to the EPU now maybe you will know for sure one way or another and will be able to get on with the doula-ing tonight. Don't take any crap - you were clearly given the wrong tretment last time with the external scan and they may have caused you all this stress and worry for no reason (I hope so!). And you are not making anything up to get a scan, you have a brown discharge in early pregnancy which is a perfectly legitimate reason to go to the epu - I'm sure that's what 90% of their patients are there for.

Your all right, I should be pushing for another scan.

I suppose in this position, even though it is hellish I can cling on to all sorts of "what if;s" that I feel, deep down will evaporate when I get these results and another scan.

going to go and wash my hair ready for my meeting (with phone close by for call from hospital)

Ok, heres another turn in the rollercoaster.

My DH is a heamatologist at a different hospital. He has just rung through for the results and they are 41650

Thoughts?

that has to be a good sign though, cant get anymore conclusive than a scan what did they say about the result

PeckaRolloverAgain · 02/05/2007 16:17

Well, I havent actually heard from hospital yet this information is from my DH who works in a nearby heamatology lab. Bit naughty I know but he is obviously going mad waiting too!

Waiting for phone to ring...

i don't think they carry on doubling - the rate at which it rises does slow i'm sure

well, something is progressing, isn't it? surely the hcg wouldn't be rising like this if it were a blighted ovum???
