I am currently 40 weeks + 6 and I feel like I have been pregnant forever! I am trying to keep myself motivated and find things to do, but there is a limit! I've bounced on my birthing ball until I can't take it anymore, knitted more booties etc than I ever thought possible, baked about 100 cakes and topped up the freezer and I'm now getting fed up. I am struggling to do certain jobs around the house as I get breathless easily, so I'm finding going out for walk hard too. I keep meaning to invite friends over for coffee, but then get worried if something does kick off! Does anyone have any ideas/tips to keep motivated in what I hope is the last week?! Thank you!

Sorry, not sure about that!

Also been engaged for weeks, was 3/5 this time round.

Mortigua · 19/01/2018 23:28

Thanks . Can I ask,are you being seen between now and induction? Apparently I don't need to be. I'm not comfortable with 7-8 days of nothing when I'm over 41 weeks.

Mortigua · 19/01/2018 23:29

Obviously I mean if induction is even needed!

Justanotherzombie · 20/01/2018 03:30

I've been having contractions every 10 mins since 9pm last night. Feeling very tired as they're intense.

owltrousers · 20/01/2018 08:47

Yikes, could be your time zombie! I bet they are very tiring at that time though.

No I don't have any other appointments Mortigua but my midwife said to come in at the drop of a hat if I'm worried about anything.

Spudlet · 20/01/2018 08:54

Congratulations op! Flowers

Mortigua, just wanted to offer some solidarity as I was where you are two years ago with the super-late baby and dreadful SPD and it was bloody awful... hang in there, this too shall pass Flowers

Justanotherzombie · 20/01/2018 12:08

Hi @owltrousers. Sitting here on the postnatal ward with my 9lb2er:) He arrived at 7.47am after that😂

Mortigua · 20/01/2018 14:51

Thanks spudlet. It's so depressing that the hospital aren't even reassuring me on my worries just repeating that's not what we do here. I'm really seriously tempted to move hospitals but it may be too late.

Spudlet · 20/01/2018 16:27

Mine was pretty useless at this stage too - but it was ok once I was in delivery suite. My induction was easy too, one pessary was all I needed.

That baby will be here before you know it, which I know is absolutely no help whatsoever at this point...!

BrutusMcDogface · 20/01/2018 19:16

Congratulations, zombie !! Hope you're both well! SmileFlowers

Mortigua · 20/01/2018 20:38

Thanks spudlet it's so frustrating but i know you are right. Accupuncture today at least helped me relax.

owltrousers · 21/01/2018 10:07

Oh wow congratulations @Justanotherzombie ! Thats a good size as well :)

I'm 41+2 today, honestly feeling like this baby will never come. We DTD yesterday in an attempt to help things along, I got 3 contractions yesterday evening and that was it Hmm

My midwife has requested an induction for Wednesday for me but she said the way they do it now is they request it and the hospital phones you back to confirm a date and time. I haven't heard anything yet so thats making me a bit edgy (I like to prepare and know whats going on!)

So who's left, me and @Mortigua ?

LittleRen · 21/01/2018 10:30

Hi all - I had my baby yesterday at 1pm, went into hospital at 6am and we were home by 4! Best labour so far but very intense with back to back contractions from the go! I hope it happens for you both soon... don’t worry too much about induction, I was warming to the idea and knowing when I would be having the baby was giving me something to focus on. I bet baby will come before then anyway - the induction rate for third timers is very low.

Just try and relax as hard as it is - I think that is what kick started things for me, plus the sex. Good luck thinking of you.

LittleRen · 21/01/2018 10:32

Oh also he was 10 days late in the end, latest one ever!! I think my date was 4 days out though as he doesn’t look anywhere near as “cooked” as my last who was 8 days over.

Mortigua · 21/01/2018 10:33

Owltrousers yes I'm still here!Had a huge panic attack yesterday and today isn't looking much better. Also been DTD. I'm so scared by my induction not being till next Saturday (I'm 41+1 so it's the full 14 days here)especially as I'm close to 40 it just feels reckless to me and I'm going to try again tomorrow to speak to someone about trying Thursday or Friday at latest. My anxiety is worse every day and I'm not really coping and while I know it's not really rational it is making me ill.

Mortigua · 21/01/2018 10:39

Congratulations Littleren!

owltrousers · 21/01/2018 10:49

@Mortigua Yes sounds like you should speak to someone if its worrying you, perhaps ask if there is another day earlier on that you can be booked in on if space becomes available or something? I'm sure they don't want you anxious and stressed about it.

Congratulations @Littleren ! Thats lovely news, what a nice convenient time for labour as well! I keep thinking I'd love to go once I'm up and ready in the morning, had a good sleep and a good breakfast Grin

LittleRen · 21/01/2018 10:58

It does seem late to plan induction but third time
It’s likely to be very quick so I expect to they will be expecting it to be born that day but you are well within your rights to request monitoring or at least talk to them.

Mortigua · 21/01/2018 11:13

Unfortunately I've tried and they are refusing despite me having supposed support for the birth anxiety.
Getting angrier and more panicky by the day and all I am asking is to be induced at 12 days not 14. Just crazy, I'm even wondering whether it would be too late to be transferred to another hospital for care. I really wish I'd done this earlier though.

Mortigua · 21/01/2018 11:15

Thanks Littleren my worry is that both previous births have been 2-3 days despite induction and only really got going with the drip a day or so in. So likelihood is they are saying it's fine for a baby to be born at 16 days which seems all wrong. Need to stop obsessing though ,feeling guilty as I'm aware my children are being affected by how upset I've been this weekend despite having DH take them out a lot and trying my best.

thingymaboob · 22/01/2018 05:18

@Mortigua I don't think you're being unreasonable at all. I'm surprised they wont induce you at 12 days as my trust do that as standard. I was induced due to reduced movement. They weren't even that reduced and everything was ok on the CTG but they were had a very low threshold for it. My induction was easy (apart from vomiting and explosive diarrhoea) - only needed the pessary for 10 hours.

speakout · 22/01/2018 05:38

When I had my first pregnancy I was feeling stressed towards the end. I booked myself with a massage therapist who was experienced in pregnancy massage.
It was very gentle, I lay on my side, she pretty much avoided my tummy area except to lay on her hands and do some "energy " work.
It felt lovely, I was zoned out afterwards, hardly felt my feet touch the pavement as I went home.
My labour started 6 hours later- an easy birth.
With my second I was 5 days late and booked in for a massage with the same therapist. Same procedure.
My baby was born 12 hours later.
Again an easy relaxed birth.

I believe reflexology can also get things moving.

Mortigua · 22/01/2018 06:10

Thanks thingymaboob. Yes I believe a lot of areas have 12 days as their policy which is why I'm so upset they won't even consider.
False alarm (again) last night with some pretty intense contractions and I am feeling defeated. I am getting really obsessed with movement and because of the anxiety I can't trust myself to know what's normal right now.
Had enough and going to spend the day trying to get someone to listen as I'm worried about how bad I will be if I do end up having to wait till Saturday .

katmarie · 22/01/2018 06:17

40+5 here, intense back pain and contractions since about 9pm last night, spoke to the hospital twice, heading in now for assessment. I'm convinced they're going to send me home but we'll see.

LittleRen · 22/01/2018 09:00

Ahh I saw an update on this thread and really hoped it would be you saying baby is here Mortigua. It sounds like you are getting close though and you still have a week to labour spontaneously. Don’t feel bad about being fed up, it’s normal at this point. I felt totally deflated and had my head set on induction and it suddenly happened 2 days before when I had finally accepted induction I think.

Also just keep a real eye on your movements and any doubt go straight in to be checked, you already know that obviously but I suppose I am saying any tiny reason or doubt go in especially as they are leaving it until 14 days. Good luck today keep us updated.
