I am currently 40 weeks + 6 and I feel like I have been pregnant forever! I am trying to keep myself motivated and find things to do, but there is a limit! I've bounced on my birthing ball until I can't take it anymore, knitted more booties etc than I ever thought possible, baked about 100 cakes and topped up the freezer and I'm now getting fed up. I am struggling to do certain jobs around the house as I get breathless easily, so I'm finding going out for walk hard too. I keep meaning to invite friends over for coffee, but then get worried if something does kick off! Does anyone have any ideas/tips to keep motivated in what I hope is the last week?! Thank you!

Yay @HannahM32 congratulations! Still no news from me, where is this baby!

thingymaboob · 19/01/2018 04:40

My little girl arrived yesterday weighing 3.66kg. Had an induction - pessary for 10 hours then it all kicked off!

owltrousers · 19/01/2018 08:55

Brilliant, congratulations @thingymaboob how overdue were you in the end? I hope labour was ok! Now enjoy your baby :)

Mortigua · 19/01/2018 09:15

Congratulations to thingamebob too!
Owltrkusers I am still here!
Off to get checked out today after an odd bit of fluid but I am almost certain ( as are the midwives) that it was just wee or discharge due to how it happened. Nothing further occurring here and I am worried I might cry at the midwives!

HannahM32 · 19/01/2018 11:32

@thingymaboob - Congratulations! Star Enjoy your wee baby!
@Mortigua, still no news? Keeping everything crossed it happens soon for you Flowers
Thinking of you all lovely ladies and hoping you all have your babies soon! Xx

Nothing and was still only 2cm today. Just waiting it out for induction now!

BrutusMcDogface · 19/01/2018 12:47

Congratulations, thingymaboob!! Enjoy her SmileFlowers

Still thinking of you mortigua and hoping you haven't got much longer to wait!

owltrousers · 19/01/2018 14:10

@Mortigua do you have a date booked in for induction yet?

I have my second sweep at 3.30pm and I am nervous, it hurt so much last time :(

Having lots of BH and pressure today so I am praying that I've made some progress.

Mortigua · 19/01/2018 14:17

Good luck at your sweep. I had one again in the end and it was ok. Not much change though and booked for induction a week tomorrow. Really down and anxious about it I can't believe my stupid body won't just do it.

owltrousers · 19/01/2018 14:20

@Mortigua Try to relax, don't blame yourself - no one really knows what starts labour, its all a bit of a guessing game. Just think how much your new baby will be worth the wait in the end, and you never know you might still labour spontaneously - stay positive!

Mortigua · 19/01/2018 14:22

Thank you I really hope so but so fed up and drained with the false alarms now. Fingers crossed for us both x

LittleRen · 19/01/2018 14:41

Wanted to join in on this thread.. currently 41+2 with my third baby, first was 6 days late and 2nd was 8 days late, so kind of expected this and had my due date a week later in my mind all along so only really started to get fed up this week.

Currently having contractions but mild just hoping they stick around, due for induction Monday if not. I tried sex on Weds night, been taking one evening primrose orally and sticking one up there (recommended by midwife), bouncing on the ball tons and last night I had had enough, had a good cry to DH about induction and caved and had a glass of wine (bad I know). The theory behind the wine was because I was so anxious and worked up I thought it may relax me a little... maybe just coincidence but it seems to have kicked something off, maybe the crying made the baby feel bad or the wine did relax me a little.

I have to say being active does make a difference, I have had tightenings for 1.5 weeks and as soon as I got into bed they stop. Even now the contractions are more intense when I am stood up, doing housework etc.

Fingers cross it happens for you soon Mortigua. I lie to people about my due date, well to those who don't really know me - like people in shops etc, I just say oh I'm due end of next week.

Mortigua · 19/01/2018 15:01

Hi Littleren, sort to hear you are so fed up too. I agree about being active but I find for me it fizzles out too when I rest which has happened so many times I wonder if it's worth it. So you will be 41+6 at induction?I'm really worried about my induction being at the cut off point (will be 42 weeks exactly) as I know how long it can take, how they are often too busy etc but I'm being told it's not possible to book in sooner without medical cause-even by a day which I know is untrue !

Such a good idea to lie about date, wish I'd done that and have been asked for weeks now as I'm huge !

Mortigua · 19/01/2018 15:13

Meant to say don't worry about the wine, a glass is fine and I've heard many people do that! I only can't due to horrendous heartburn!

LittleRen · 19/01/2018 15:44

Yeah here they like to induce at 12 days over but if I still feel like this (I hope I will have had baby by then!!) then I will probably refuse to 14 days. I had a sweep Monday and did have one booked for today but as I am contracting no point, but Midwife has said I can do it tomorrow if the contractions do fade. I had a sweep with my second baby and it was a breeze but this time my god it hurt, and I was 2cm but apparently cervix was at back and she had to “walk” it to the front cringe.

Try not to worry about being at 42 weeks for induction - hopefully it will be quick for you and won’t drag on. Is it your first?

I think you will end up labouring spontaneously especially if you keep having false alarms... it’s so hard to relax isn’t it but I really think that’s the key.

Mortigua · 19/01/2018 16:06

Thanks no my third too!both others very long so really panicking.
Argh at walking it round! No wonder it was sore! I found today's one hard but slightly easier than the last one. Apparently the head is so low it's in the way and adds to the discomfort but that might just be her making me feel better!

LittleRen · 19/01/2018 16:23

I have read third labours can be weird things... very stop start. I am hoping that means the actual labour will be quicker?! Wishful thinking though?? I didn’t have all these tightenings and false starts with my other two. What day is your induction booked for then? I think people assume third babies will be early!

owltrousers · 19/01/2018 17:20

Hi guys,

Just wanted to check in, I just had my second sweep. 41 weeks exactly today. Midwife seemed to think cervix was very favourable, soft, short and anterior. She said she could feel the waters bulging too. She's booked me in for induction next week but said she thinks it'll come on its own sooner than that.

A bonus, it didn't even hurt much this time!

Mortigua · 19/01/2018 17:57

I didn't have all the stop start either with the other two! I was so sure this one would at least be on time.
Owltrousers that's great news!

Mortigua · 19/01/2018 18:32

@owltrousers or anyone who knows about Bishops score. Do you know how to compare fetal head station with 5ths palpable? This baby has been 1/5 palpable ( or 4/5 engaged so I gather very low ) for weeks now.
