I am currently 40 weeks + 6 and I feel like I have been pregnant forever! I am trying to keep myself motivated and find things to do, but there is a limit! I've bounced on my birthing ball until I can't take it anymore, knitted more booties etc than I ever thought possible, baked about 100 cakes and topped up the freezer and I'm now getting fed up. I am struggling to do certain jobs around the house as I get breathless easily, so I'm finding going out for walk hard too. I keep meaning to invite friends over for coffee, but then get worried if something does kick off! Does anyone have any ideas/tips to keep motivated in what I hope is the last week?! Thank you!

@Mortigua, I have my second sweep tomorrow as my first one did bugger all! (Not very helpful, sorry!) but I'm sure you'll be fine, and holding your wee one as soon as Smile

Good luck with your sweeps ladies!

I have decided to make plans and try to forget about 'waiting!' it doesn't help that I am completely skint until payday on 25th Sad I can't distract myself with anything.

Mortigua · 15/01/2018 18:26

Oh no Hannah I had two with my last baby and wasn't even dilated so I am not hopeful this time either. Did you find it painful? I seem to remember my first one hurt last time but the second was ok.

HannahM32 · 15/01/2018 18:36

@owltrousers, I am the same, even wandering down town for a coffee is out of the question at the moment Sad

@Mortigua, with my first s&s, she found I was 2cm dilated and she managed to get me to nearly 3cm which I thought was a good sign. I didn't found it hurt, it was just very uncomfortable. My midwife was lovely about it though, speaking to me throughout the examination. I've been having the odd tightening/contraction, so I'm hoping that's a good sign for tomorrow!

Fingers crossed Hannah! I wonder if mine hurt because of not being dilated- She was my second child too so I'm not even hopeful for tomorrow for me (even though its my 3rd baby).
It does sound hopeful that you are 3cm! I'm getting really annoyed about my midwife saying I needed to wait till tomorrow and then a week after that. Going to really push for a second sweep this week as next week is way too far away.

I remember this really well. Went overdue with DD1 and kept really busy. At 40+7 did a one day silversmithing course. Was fabulous. She's 6 now and it lingers in my mind as my last stolen 'me' day.

skippykips · 15/01/2018 19:05

Oh gosh I feel for you! I went 40+9. Its just awful isn't it!
My friend and DP tickled me! Literally had me on floor tickling my feet. My friend screamed 'yes, it's worked! Her waters have broken' No! I just wet myself! (I am extremely ticklish) All over my brand new rug! 😱
However, I went into labour the next day! DP and friend still believe they caused made it happen!
Good luck Op! Hope baby is here soon Thanks

HannahM32 · 15/01/2018 19:13

@skippykips, I might try that, but like you, I am very ticklish too!! Grin but I will literally try anything at this moment.

They started because they read something about reflexology in feet can trigger labour! It just turned into a lets tickle Skippy!
I know its horrible going over! Baby will be here very soon! Stick a comedy on, get DP to tickle you...let us know! Smile

Feeling very uncomfortable and LOTS of pressure down below, but I don't know if that is just because I want something to happen, I only think I'm feeling pains etc. I shall let you lovely ladies know how I get on Star

Good luck Hannah.
I had a bad night with really bad period pain that had me awake at 3am. It wasn't contraction like so I got up and got water and paracetamol and it went away.
In tears this morning after a bad start with my older child ( long story but it's getting dangerous doing what I have to do at home like this and I am in so much pain with the spd). Not got much hope of the sweep today or of my midwife.

BrutusMcDogface · 16/01/2018 09:48

owl - this is what I did, too. I made a week of plans and relaxed, aiming for induction. thankfully the little blighter arrived at 40+9, after a mammoth cooking session!

Good luck all you overdue ladies. It's horrible. I put a Facebook status saying "still here"!

BrutusMcDogface · 16/01/2018 09:54

Oh Hannah, fingers crossed baby is on the move!

Mortigua- you poor thing. Sending Flowers

owltrousers · 16/01/2018 10:12

How are you both today ladies?

Last night I managed to sit down onto a plate of buttered bread that DH had rested on the sofa momentarily (greasy bum!) by accident and that led to me laughing my head off for hours. Every time I thought of it I was in floods of happy tears Grin so I think thats weirdly cheered me up a bit.

My 2nd sweep on Friday seems so far away, I wonder if you can request one sooner?

Mortigua · 16/01/2018 11:25

I'm requesting one owl although I am asking for Friday after today's sweep as other wise it is next Tuesday which seems silly!
Thanks Brutus it is horrible! My anxiety is ramping up daily despite knowing it's not rational!

Ooh let me know how you get on @Mortigua

Perhaps it did all kick off for Hannah! How exciting.

thingymaboob · 16/01/2018 12:29

I'm also still here. 40+4. Seem to have dropped off the radar.

Mortigua · 16/01/2018 12:34

Just heard back from consultant. No chance of induction before 42 weeks. Not sure how that works with the due date being a Saturday?

thingymaboob · 16/01/2018 13:28

@Mortigua I don't think it matters as my hospital do inductions everyday, including weekends.

owltrousers · 16/01/2018 13:45

Snap @thingymaboob any signs for you?

I took my dog on a 4k walk just now which was pretty hard work but refreshing, since I got home I've had a lot of pressure and crampiness. Think its nothing, but a good sign.

thingymaboob · 16/01/2018 14:32

@owltrousers no signs. I have booked a labour induction massage / acupressure with a midwife on Thursday.
