Sacha for a boy and would you spell it:

Sacha or Sasha?

Would you assume the child to be male or female?

Please be honest!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
littlemissbossy · 24/04/2007 21:06

I like it too
and I'd spell it Sacha for a boy or Sasha for a girl
I actually prefer it for a boy

Then our experiences differ Hatrick as i know many children bullied or singled out specifically becuase of their name.

at least the OP has two different and valid POVs i am sure she will be heartily glad of. As differing opinions are wonderful i usually find.

I would assume Sasha was a girl. If I heard the name Sacha, again I would probably think girl, but seeing the spelling think boy.

Tinker · 24/04/2007 21:18

But if you love it, choose it. We angsted over Jesse (had a girl in teh end) but I do miss the idea of having a little boy called Jesse.

There is a boy Sasha at DS2's karate class. I like it, but I am quite a russophile, so I think of it first as a boy's name. Sacha is traditionally the French spelling ('ch' being English 'ch') of a Slavonic diminutive.

Pollyanna · 24/04/2007 21:20

I know a little boy called Sacha. I would assume Sasha is a girls name. I have also seen it spelled Sascha (for a girl).

Nanoon · 24/04/2007 21:28

I really like it for a boy but not a girl - not sure why!

fatcatkin · 01/05/2007 17:09

I think it's a really lovely name for a boy. (and I had a girl Sacha doll - who I called Sacha !)

Tinkjon · 01/05/2007 18:47

I definitely think of a girl, I'm afraid. But go for it if that's what you want. Otherwise why not go the middle name route?

NotanOtter · 01/05/2007 18:54

my daughter is !! She is Alexandra but we call her Sacha! I love it - i ove it MORE on a boy .
If i had my time again Diplodocus I would have not used it and instead had PASHA for a boy!

beckybrastraps · 01/05/2007 19:03

I like it. And I'm not one for obviously unusual names. Uncommon yes, but not unusual. IYSWIM.

Definitely the 'Sacha' spelling.

I like it pronounced slightly 'Sarsha' rather the 'Sasha'

Twiglett · 01/05/2007 19:04

Sacha Distel

don't like it sorry

southeastastra · 01/05/2007 19:08

have a male sacha in the family, think it's nice. not sure of the spelling though

NotanOtter · 01/05/2007 20:03

I chose Sacha spelling above the others.........
think Pasha though - keep going on about it!

berolina · 01/05/2007 20:06

Oh, I like Sacha. It's not an option for us though, as then dh's, ds1's and ds2's names would all begin with S and that's a bit much for me.
