I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.
MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk
If you need help in obtaining medication, phone them on:

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.
Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Hurrah Blue!!! Waves pom-poms!!

I loved the caboo when oklette was small and then the connecta when she was a bit older - loved our pram too though. I found they serve very different functions.

Mustang27 · 16/11/2017 11:47

Snap bunny iv yet to come across anyone that looks like they are just saying it like it’s on trend or something.

You are right severe and hg is very blurred and I think everyone of us on this thread have questioned how sick we are and tried to struggle through.

I’m so tired of that pregnancy is not an illness being spun out at every hurdle......yes for most it is not but for some wether that’s debilitating nausea or spending weeks in hospital it is an illness. Meh what do we know lol

Emu31 · 16/11/2017 12:04

Blue so exciting, really hope all goes well for you. Baby blue will be hear soon!

Interesting reading all the hints and tips on things to buy for baby, I'm feeling quite overwhelmed with all the choice and trying to budget etc. Finding that there are lots of groups on facebook selling second hand things cheaply.

Bunny that thread Angry . I tried to resist posting but couldn't, though doubt it will have any impact. Some people just have very little empathy sadly.

Oklahoma · 16/11/2017 12:13

Pregnancy isn’t an illness but severe nausea and vomiting be it HG or NVP is an illness and is debilitating.

Natsku · 16/11/2017 12:53

Yay blue hope all goes smoothly

justtheonethen · 16/11/2017 13:14

Oh good I'm going to get a close caboo then Smile

That fucking thread Angry. I can't post, I don't have the mental capacity today after a horrendous night throwing up and fainting twice today to make my point properly.
Those from this thread who have commented well done. Really impressed with the points you have made and the way you have put out what it's like to have HG.

BergamotMouse · 16/11/2017 13:50

Thanks for the advice re starting meds early - I'll go armed with info to the GP for my appointment next week.

Journey - I'm only just pregnant, thinks it's 3+6 so such early days. I've been ok so far - felt a bit shaky on waking yesterday and feel a bit nauseous if hungry but probably wouldn't have thought much of it if i didn't know I was pregnant. How far along are you?

Good luck blue!!

Natsku · 16/11/2017 14:27

So angry, the doctor didn't bother to call me. Just called the midwife and she was surprised as she had out a clear note saying to call me on the doctor's desk, so now I have to try and get an appointment with a GP tomorrow and hope they'll prescribe for me and not just tell me to try the OB again.

anewjourney · 16/11/2017 14:30

I’m 3+4 Mouse. I felt queasy yesterday but feel ok today. Like you say if I didn’t know I was preg I would brush it off.

I have ordered some milk thistle and magnesium spray today. Have read very positive things about milk thistle for sickness. I want to get some Pink Stork but they only ship to the US Sad So am going to get some monolaurin instead which is supposed to be helpful for treating H. Pylori which is associated with HG.

Starting to lose track of my supplements. Taking every one under the bloody sun that’s supposed to help!

Daffodil397 · 16/11/2017 14:53

Hi, just to say a big thank you to you all for your condolences and encouragement. I’m not quite ready to be on here yet so will dip out again, but you may see me here again...!
All the very best for the arrivals of mini-blue and mini-Oklahoma.
Much love xxx

Shehz21 · 16/11/2017 16:09

Bunny That bloody thread. I wanted to vomit when I read it earlier on. Lack of empathy is terrible. But without wishing bad upon others, sometimes people deserve to get to stand in others shoes for a while to be able to understand. Sooner or later.. karma!

Blue Yay! Can't wait for Baby blue to be here finally!
Sorry you ladies still waiting Pippa Oklahama Door soon enough ladies!

justtheonethen Thank you for the list! Took a screenshot and gonna run around with this list for Christmas/Boxing day sales. Well might be DH who will be running around tbh.

Mouse Welcome and goodluck with GP appointment next week!

Natsku I would have gladly driven to yours if you were anywhere around in East London and get you meds while your silly Doc/GP decides to give you what you need.

Re buggies/prams I think Mustang mentioned how she spent £1200 on a set and it turned out to not be worth it. DH's heart is set on the Bugaboo Chameleon 3 set with the isofix car seat which is around £1100 and I really don't think it's worth it to spend SO much esp with only him working...
Any suggestions are welcome.
I noticed something about a close caboo? Is that a sling or a buggy or a carseat? Sorry so clearly clueless here.

Blondeshavemorefun · 16/11/2017 16:11

@okla. 3 sweeps. Poor you. I got 3 pesseries while trying to induce me

@blue. Yah for labour. Hope all goes well

@bunny. A friend got preg just after I gave birth and has the odd puke/nausea and says it hg 😡😡😡

@mouse. Def start early end tho eating is hard try and eatsomething . Hunger makes you feel queasy iyswim

And being sick on empty stomach is def worse then losing lunch

Shehz21 · 16/11/2017 16:16

Pippa Really hope some food stayed down in the end :(

Oklahama 3 sweeps?! 😱 only ever read about this sweep thing and already sh*t scared, don't think I will be able to handle even one.

Blondeshavemorefun I always forget to mention how glad I am to see another survivor on here. Always gives me such a boost of courage, felt especially delighted when I read how sickness and nausea went away right giving birth! :)
(P.S - When I read your name for the 1st time, I read it as "Blondes shave more fun" and I kept wondering why Blondes shave more and why it is more fun Hmm LOL sorry my silly pregnancy brain!!

Natsku · 16/11/2017 16:21

I got a pram from Sweden that works as a travel system (didn't come with a carseat though, but can clip car seats onto the frame) for less than 300 euros, has a really good solid comfy carry cot too - no way would I pay anything near a grand for a pram!!

Thanks Shehz wish I was in East London now! Going to call the emergency doctor line first thing in the morning, have to go to the health centre anyway for a blood test to check my iron levels so hopefully I can get a morning appointment. Failing that then it's I'm going to the private doctor but that might have to wait until monday.

I'm wondering about baby carriers too, thinking about getting the Ergo 360 as I don't think I'd be able to handle a wrap style carrier and I know from experience that ring slings fuck up my back.

pippanippa · 16/11/2017 16:39

Just checking in to see if there's an update from Blue. Thanks for the well wishes Shehz...the wait for baby continues here, but lunch stayed put so it's a relatively successful day! The caboo is a type of sling, I had one for when DD was first born and it was very handy, then later switched to an ergo baby as like Natsku I couldn't handle a wrap, I'd end up tying myself in knots literally!

On the pram question we wanted something small, light and cheap (well, relatively so in the world of prams...), so picked up a lesser known one called a greentom upp (it appealed to my attempts to be green as it's recycled). It's super light and we love it, but I think the price has gone up....when we got it it was £300, but I think it's more like £500-£600 now (partly exchange rates I think) Sad. It's been perfect for us though, but go and test drive a few, prams are very divisive!

So sorry to hear about the useless doctor Natsku, I hope you are able to get those meds sorted soon.

Shehz21 · 16/11/2017 16:55

Pippa I would gladly get a Graco/Chicco which is more than half the price than the one DH wants to get. But I think it's partly my fault as I kept reminding him every now and then that this is my first and last pregnancy and I absolutely cannot go through this again. So now he wants to go all out on the only child he might have. Still can't justify £1000+ though!!
Will look into the caboo sling but I do really like the Ergo 360 like Natsku! I actually noticed it won best baby sling/carrier somewhere and decided I could go for that rather than try around Grin. Lack of patience is a new flaw I developed in pregnancy Blush

Natsku · 16/11/2017 16:57

That's my thinking too Shehz I don't have the patience any more to try around! Plus I won a 300 quid Amazon voucher recently so could get the Ergo from there and consider it free really.

Oklahoma · 16/11/2017 17:06

The ergo 360 is brilliant too. DH has that one and loves it.

Pram wise, we have an uppababy vista which we love. Mamas and papas do really good ones like the sola which are cheaper. Look on the Which? website. They do free trials so you can use the site for a month for free and they have really useful reviews for baby stuff.

I just found these while looking for Christmas cards in case anyone has the energy to write any!

www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk/get-involved/cards/

DeadDoorpost · 16/11/2017 17:22

I finally managed to sleep. Not lots but a little bit from about 12 til 4ish. It'll do for now. I don't want to have another sleepless night from sleeping too much now.

Just had to explain what a sweep is to DH. And what pessaries are. Luckily he's doesn't give me odd looks anymore when I explain things to do with this lol.

Shehz tell your DH that the less money he spends now the more money he'll have to be able to treat your baby girl to other things like all the adorable dresses! Or put money aside for her later on etc.

DH didn't get the job btw. Slightly upset but hopefully something else will come along.

Elephantgrey · 16/11/2017 19:17

I have just found the new thread after reading the whole of the upsetting one in AIBU, mentally composing a reply and not having the energy to actually post it.

When I was in hospital the nurse said that more people had been going to the early pregnancy unit for help earlier since Kate Middleton had hyperemersis but not all of them needed to be in hospital, most went home with medication. She added that that I really needed to be in hospital as I still had ketones after 3 drips. I imagine that sniffy people would look down on the women who went to the hospital to get help and were able to go home with medication but that is a success story. The NHS wants to treat people before they are ill enough to be an inpatient. If the medication works for them they have avoided a lot of suffering. It doesn't mean they don't have hyperemersis.

blue it's good to hear you are in labour and I hope your birth goes well.😀

dead I hope you have your baby soon.

I had my 12 week scan yesterday. The baby was waving its arms around and figited so much that the midwife had to have several goes of taking its measurements. You could see its little arms and legs and got a lovely view of its spine. It was such a lovely relief to see that it was ok. I ate virtually nothing for the first few weeks of pregnancy so I was convinced I had starved the baby but it is a normal size for 12 weeks.

The midwife who did the scan mentioned that I must be tired if I was on medication for sickness. I hadn't realised that that was a side effect but I am shattered. On Sunday I went to bed a 5pm as I couldn't physically keep my eyes open anymore. The medication has significantly reduced my sickness though so I am very luck compared to most people on here.

I hope everybody on here is ok. The advice you have given me has helped so much.

Elephantgrey · 16/11/2017 19:22

Also if you were to have one thing that Kate Middleton has because it is "fashionable" it wouldn't be bloody this.Angry

NerNerNerNerBATMAN · 16/11/2017 20:58

That thread was infuriating. I had severe NVP in my last pregnancy and Dr diagnosed HG in this one. My two penneths worth are that it does feel like a continuum - my symptoms are very similar to last time, just much worse and have required a lot more drugs and time off work laying in bed depressed. No doubt there are many who are worse than me. We're all suffering though and there's nothin to be gained from playing pregnancy illness top trumps.

Anyway. More importantly, I have some fabulous news..........

I feel a bit better! In fact I feel almost normal! I've even managed to eat some vegetables and do an exercise class (aqua aerobics, not spinning or Zumba!)

Have felt like this for a few days and am slowly reducing the ondansetron. FX it lasts for a while

Mustang27 · 16/11/2017 21:17

Sorry really struggling tonight.

DO NOT BUY THE ERGO!!! Lol sorry Over priced and designed for people without breasts I.e men Hmm.
Honestly iv had several friends all shapes and sizes been put off carriers due to it then tried something else and been amazed. Google connecta, Tula, boba these are all really good brands designed by women so definitely better for women in my experience. I went to sling libraries before mini was born and they were a great help as it’s actually mind boggling how much choice there is.

Natsku if you have money to spend on amazon I’d maybe say that the ergo free is worth it. Sorry Oklahoma I know you said you liked it but followed it up by saying hubs used it and I tend to find that only guys really find it comfortable most women find the design gives them back pain quite quickly.

Ring slings are a nightmare and wraps are beautiful but I hate that swamped in material feeling to get the end result.

Sorry I know I’m missing loads but I’m off to vomit some more and drink/eat all the antacid stuff I hAve as the bile has burnt all my oesophagus.

Elephantgrey · 16/11/2017 21:18

BATMAN hurray for eating some vegetables! That is a real achievement.

It is interesting that it doesn't seem to be the people who actually do have pregnancy illnesses who are doing the top trumps ( can anyone see that and not think of Donald Sad). It is people who are fine ( or are men so will never be pregnant) who get annoyed by it. Nobody on here has made me feel bad about being less severely affected that them. The idea that you need to be vomiting 40 times a day before you get help is dangerous and could put some one who is seriously dehydrated from going to hospital when they desperately need to go.

Mustang27 · 16/11/2017 21:29

Look for fefifofums post on the thread Elephant I actually had to hide it after reading their post? It was pretty irresponsible and insensitive considering they supposedly suffered so badlyAngry
