I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.
MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk
If you need help in obtaining medication, phone them on:
024 7638 2020
Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy
I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.
Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Oh Dead it’s so tough I know you are doing so well. Just take it easy. Don’t worry about the breastfeeding wether you are doing it or not. My family all struggled and I found it easy I didn’t have leaky boobs or much sign of colostrum before baby was born but he was a superstar and I was very lucky that he just seemed to get it. I did get mastitis at 9 weeks and that was no fun but feeding through it is actually the best plan of action with that. I’m sure you will be fine and feel sexy it can be surprising how quickly you feel up to it once you have more energy thanks to not being sick everyday.

OnNaturesCourse · 29/10/2017 00:12

Anyone awake and suffering?

😭 feel sick and every time I even remotely lay back I can feel burning bile making its way back up. And heartburn.

Got my baby shower tomorrow and I can honestly see it far enough.

Mustang27 · 29/10/2017 00:17

Snap ons I’m suffering the same fate tonight. Just waddled downstairs to take more meds in hope to salvage some sleep.

Pfff if it’s your baby shower just make sure you are sitting with your feet up and let everyone pander to you. I feel for you though I hate social occasions at the best of times. I kiboshed baby showers to family and friends dismay.

OnNaturesCourse · 29/10/2017 00:43

I tried to avoid one but there are some very excited grandparents to be...

I'm sat on my birth ball as it seems to help when the the gas/heartburn... And I'm trying to practise mind over matter for the nausea (I no longer have meds)

NerNerNerNerBATMAN · 29/10/2017 00:53

I'm up too, can't sleep due to the nausea and the fact that I'm deep into a Netflix hole so sitting in bed sipping soda water.

I'm on 3x 4mg ondansetron but do some if you take 4? I'm tempted to pop another to see me through the night

DeadDoorpost · 29/10/2017 00:56

I didn't want a baby shower but I got thrown one.
Currently sucking on a Rennie tablet as I can feel heartburn starting. They've been a lot better than the Gaviscon bleurgh
I'm going to see if I can get baby to turn (again) soon by slowly forcing him. Don't know if it'll work but laying on my side and everything else isn't working.

OnNaturesCourse · 29/10/2017 01:01

My bump is sound asleep... With their arse lodged under my rib, which is greatly helping with everything else. 🤔

I've not tried Rennies, but Tums made my gag! I find nothing but movement helps. I'm now propped up in bed listening to a audio book...with DP in a slight huff as I woke him while trying to prepare and arrange my pillows. Anyone else find it takes a good while to get the bed set up just right before actually getting in it? Lol

DeadDoorpost · 29/10/2017 01:04

Not tried tums but I'd recommend you try the tennis if you can. They're not as minty as I was expecting and actually not too bad texture wise for me so I'm surprised and happy that they actually work.
Yeah,it takes a while for me to settle. I need a pillow between my legs to help support my hips as I've got naturally wide hips anyway so it's uncomfortable laying without one now and I sometimes have the feeling leave my legs so I have to message them or massage my toes to get the blood flowing Hmm luckily DH can sleep through anything so me moving around a lot doesn't affect him too much otherwise hed have no sleep and hate me

DeadDoorpost · 29/10/2017 01:05

batman pretty sure you can take another one. If you're feeling that rough I'd do so.

OnNaturesCourse · 29/10/2017 01:09

Yes! I've always slept with either the covers or a pillow between my legs if I'm on my side.. thanks to "child bearing" hips.

Tums go really frothy / powdery which is a shame as the taste starts off nicely.

DP usual sleeps through anything but since I've had a few scares and a lot of BH lately I think he's pretty much "on call" right now, bless him.

DeadDoorpost · 29/10/2017 01:16

At least he's paying attention. I keep getting twinges and my DH is so totally unaware of what I mean when I tell him.
He's nervous though as he's applying for a new job this week. Fingers crossed he at least gets an interview because if he can and he gets the job it'll be 3 times what he's earning now and will relieve so much pressure off of him. It'll be good. I think he needs a break and this'll do him some good.

OnNaturesCourse · 29/10/2017 01:25

Aw best of luck to him! Wine

My DP is only aware of things as I've been very good in vocalizing my discomfort this week 🙈🙉 Honestly if I were him listening to me I think I would have lost the plot this week... I've not been the nicest company!

Ameliablue · 29/10/2017 03:37

Another one here having a sleepless night. Think it's pregnancy insomnia worsening the sickness this time rather than sickness itself keeping me up.
Also have my 9 year old in our bed as she went to a Halloween party and they watched some of Arachnophobia.

pippanippa · 29/10/2017 06:28

Wow, I just popped by to have a moan about a horrible night last night and it looks like everyone else was the same! Waking up every 5 minutes to go to the loo seems to be reminding my body that I feel really queasy at night time and the inevitable morning vomit sessions have been awful lately - probably thanks to the tiredness.

door I'm with you, am so very done with this pregnancy now. I too stopped taking medicine (apart from the ranitidine) about a month or so ago, seeing as it was doing nothing, and I can't get ondanestron anyway so I figured what's the point. Try not to stress about breastfeeding, we had a very rough start last time round (DD was poorly so couldn't physically feed for a bit) but things got better very gradually once she was out of neonatal etc. Like Mustang says, don't worry about it, unfortunately people can be put under quite a lot of pressure which just adds to stress and heartache, just see how it goes Smile.

Natsku · 29/10/2017 11:19

Another one that couldn't sleep last night, woke up around 3ish and was awake for hours but thankfully fell asleep again at some point and DD, after one attempt to wake me up in the morning, wisely realised its better to let me sleep...

Ameliablue · 29/10/2017 11:27

I thought with the clocks going back, is be able to get a decent lie in when I did manager to sleep but was then written at half seven by the dog being sick.

Ameliablue · 29/10/2017 11:28

Why is autocorrect worse when tired.

seizethecuttlefish · 29/10/2017 11:44

I had bad reflux last night and slept sitting up. But I did sleep. Had an ok day yesterday and now worried I don’t feel pregnant. These hormones are messing with my head. So tired though.
Oh and I still have half a Halloween costume for ds. Need to get a move on.
Hugs all, wishing you the best day you can have.

lookingforthecorkscrew · 29/10/2017 11:44

V pleased with myself for a) getting to Sainsbury’s this morning and b) stocking up on HG beverages of choice: sparkling elderflower and apple and raspberry juice Grin

LucindaE · 29/10/2017 12:35

Just dashing on to welcome Greenbeanies88. Sorry you are suffering again, glad you have found us. I am sure you know all about the liquids that suit you, and kesostix to check for the early stages of dehydration as you are a veteran. Glad you have meds.
Thinking of you all. Glad some of you are able to venture out of the house now and then to get in exciting things like Elderflower Water, and ice lollies.

Hello ladies I'm just popping in with a little tip which may help (don't worry it has nothing to do with ginger or crackers!). I'm 23 weeks now and have found that for the last couple of weeks its been the heartburn/reflux that's caused a lot of the nausea and vomiting, and it's been really painful and horrible particularly at night. Following a recommendation from a doctor friend who is also suffering with hyperemesis I've asked the GP for omprezole and so far it's made a massive difference, I think it's actually more helpful for the nausea at the moment than the anti-emetics. Anyway I just wanted to share in case it might help someone else - it's much more long acting than ranitidine so you only take one a day and so far it seems to me to be a wonder drug! Hugs to all of you who are suffering, it really is the worst.

DeadDoorpost · 29/10/2017 13:50

pippa how's the Bag packing going? I've managed half so far.

Just been to the loo and there was a tiny bit of blood. First time during the pregnancy and certainly not enough to cause panic but still. I didn't even have any implantation bleeding. Twinges are still happening, and my body (read: bowels) feels like it's working to clear out. That might be because I haven't had the iron tablets in weeks and that I've not had ondansetron today but still. Discharge is a bit more present or heavier whatever I mean I'm not thinking too clearly atm. I'm now staying at home unless I absolutely have to go anywhere.
I hope @BlueButTrue is doing ok. Looks like she's possibly in early labour

thingymaboob · 29/10/2017 14:26

@Emu31 I also found a significant improvement with omeprazole. Wish I'd had it earlier as I was so sick nursing a bottle of gaviscon

Emu31 · 29/10/2017 15:14

Yes @thingymaboob me too I also just found the taste and texture of gaviscon made want to be sick, and it would only soothe me for about an hour at the most. I've had a bit of a dip today but yesterday I felt almost normal!
