Due today

So today is my due date, so far no signs of baby making an appearance. I’m just wondering what happens if I don’t go into labour?
I have a s&s booked with my midwife on Monday but if that doesn’t work, what next? Will my midwife book me in for an induction?

This is my 3rd baby but my previous two started labour on their due dates so I have no experience if I end up going over due!

How exciting ladies !

Bumdishcloths · 12/10/2017 02:47

Erghhhhhhhh

Contractions 4-5 mins apart, waters not gone but intensity ramping up. Rang hospital, still too early, take paracetamol and have a bath (I can't get in the fucking bath!!!) Sad

GlitterSparkles17 · 12/10/2017 03:18

Good luck bumdishcloths very excited for you!!

My contractions stopped again!!! Had a lot of discharge and lost a lot of my mucus plug so things are happening

Everything kicked off and went to contractions every 3 minutes, got to hospital, only 3cm dilated and everything eased off - booooooo! Still, I've had some oral morphine and now home, I feel pissed as arseholes haha

mummabubs · 12/10/2017 09:13

Awww shucks! Hope they come back and that you're at least comfortable!

I've had small beads of what I can only assume is colostrum coming from both boobs as of last night... body preparing for labour or just another hilarious tease on the journey, who knows anymore?! 🙈🙈

GlitterSparkles17 · 12/10/2017 09:23

Oh no!! So have they said it’s just slow labour then? Wish I knew the reason behind contractions stopping and starting!!

OP posts:
Bumdishcloths · 12/10/2017 09:30

They didn't indicate it was slow particularly, although it's really slowed down now, back to one every ten minutes or so Hmm but rubbish to be honest haha

Smith7 · 12/10/2017 10:03

I’ve just come to the conclusion that a wk today I will be in for induction!! I really hope you ladies get started again soon, apart from feeling exhausted and sick nothing here. Xx

Mustang27 · 12/10/2017 11:01

Is this your first? I was in latent labour for nearly 5 days I was 3cm dilated when I got my first sweep then 4 when I got my second. Labour can take a really long time, and even when it did ramp up properly it still took 19hrs but it wasn’t too bad for me I found labour pretty bearable. Good luck you will be absolutely fine. I’d recommend the pool for sure when you get to hospital.

Smith7 · 12/10/2017 11:31

No it’s my third and to be fair my nearly 4yr old was 9days over after a sweep, I’ve had a sweep and am 2cm so body is getting ready, it’s just the waiting and everybody asking I think, also it’s my birthday sat so
Would have been nice to have had him before then. Going to just try and relax about it now 😬😬, he will come when he’s ready lol xx

Bumdishcloths · 12/10/2017 11:48

This is my first, fully expecting to be in labour for days but it's bloody confusing when it stops and starts willy nilly lol 😂

Smith7 · 12/10/2017 11:55

Yes but it’s a step in the right direction at least 😊, I feel so sick it’s like the beginning all over again!! Never again this is Defo my last 😂😂😂 xx

GlitterSparkles17 · 12/10/2017 12:07

Lol smith that’s what I’ve been saying for days “never again will I do this!” 😂 this is my 3rd and I’ve never gone overdue before so this is a very strange feeling for me

OP posts:
Mustang27 · 12/10/2017 12:16

Haha you guys know the score then. I guess it doesn’t matter wether it’s your first or your 10th the waiting is always the worst bit. I’m on my second now not due until mid December doing hypnobirthing in hope it will make me zen lol.

mummabubs · 12/10/2017 14:40

So I just had my midwife appointment which was slightly interesting... she wasn't even going to examine me and hadn't realised that we didn't have anymore appointments booked, so when she said "bye" after less than 3 minutes in the room I said "shouldn't I be offered a cervical exam and possibly a membrane sweep?" She replied "I can't do that until you're overdue"... 🙄 Once I'd reiterated for the third time that I'm very much overdue she had a mild panic and immediately gave me a stretch and sweep, booked two more and an induction date for next week as she panicked and realised I'm getting close to the "maximum" my trust allows you to go over by. Every appointment I've been to she forgets how far along I am and asks multiple times but it does scare me a bit to think that had I not said anything I'd have had no further appointments arranged!

On a happier note the stretch and sweep didn't hurt a bit, and apparently I'm already soft and 1cm dilated. But my cervix is still quite thick and posterior so it could literally go either way now! Fingers crossed still for everyone else xx

GlitterSparkles17 · 12/10/2017 14:53

Oh god glad you got it sorted!! I get that they see a lot of ladies but don’t know how you can forget your patient is overdue!!
Hope the stretch and sweep works for you and glad it was painless.

Mumma that’s not good but at least you have the rest planned out, when is your induction date?? Glitter all 3 of mine have been so different I think there is no text book, it’s a case of what will be will be. I just want to meet the little fella and start enjoying life and feels on hold (if that makes sense). Hope the sweep works for you, keep us posted xx

mummabubs · 12/10/2017 15:32

Slightly worrying as she had my notes in front of her and on the screen- both of which showed me as being overdue! (Oh well!) 🙈

Induction booked in second half of next week (not saying exact date as we aren't telling family when to try and maintain some of the mystery for them and I don't trust them not to stalk me on MN!) 😂 Just really hope I can go naturally before then. I'm still a bit confused given that my cervix is soft and dilating but not effaced and posterior... realise how I should have asked whether this meant the sweep is more or less likely to have any effect! Oh well; I'm booked in for another one on Saturday so at least it's not too long to have to wait to see results/lack thereof before try #2! 🙈

Smith7 · 12/10/2017 18:39

I know what you mean about people asking all the time, I just hope I get my Home birth have him during the night, then the boys wake up to their new brother....all a dream I know lol. Fingers and toes crossed for you it works xx

GlitterSparkles17 · 12/10/2017 21:07

Wish I was as brave as you smith having a home birth! Everything quiet tonight, no contractions, hoping I get a decent nights sleep although I doubt it very much.

OP posts:
Smith7 · 12/10/2017 21:17

Awww bless you I have to say there is something magical about it, that’s the bit I’m looking forward to. Happy sleeping 💤 all x

mummabubs · 13/10/2017 07:50

Morning all! Any changes to report?

The only thing that seems to have changed on my side is a really nasty chest cold I've had for 2 weeks that was going away seems to be coming back! 🙈 (throat is fine but really blocked nose... can that be a sign of labour?) 😂😂 I'm trying not to think the worst but already accepting I'll need the second sweep on Saturday and probably still end up being induced next week. Boooooo. Hope you guys are having better luck! Xx

Smith7 · 13/10/2017 08:29

No change here either....oh know that’s rubbish maybe it’s your body telling you to rest before the big event 🤔. What we all like clutching at straws 😂😂. I with you mumma induction next wk is looking likely this baby is way to comfortable, it’s half term next wk though which means more to sort 🙈🙈 xx

mummabubs · 13/10/2017 08:37

Fingers crossed we can both avoid it Smith! I think I'd actually rather have an elective c sec than be induced (which was the plan at once stage but not any more!) I live in Wales so half term isn't for a couple more weeks round here so hopefully roads and places will be quiet when Bubbabean arrives! I know when the cold first came a fortnight ago lots of people told me it was a sure sign that labour was imminent... nope, clearly just a minging bug!!! 😂

GlitterSparkles17 · 13/10/2017 09:24

Baby boy born at ten past 6 this morning. Absolutely shattered but on cloud 9. Hope you all won’t be long before it’s your turn!
