Due today

So today is my due date, so far no signs of baby making an appearance. I’m just wondering what happens if I don’t go into labour?
I have a s&s booked with my midwife on Monday but if that doesn’t work, what next? Will my midwife book me in for an induction?

This is my 3rd baby but my previous two started labour on their due dates so I have no experience if I end up going over due!

Ooh, exciting! Fingers crossed for you Grin

mummabubs · 10/10/2017 21:18

Eeee happy for you Glitter! (Openly jealous, but my happiness for you outweighs it!) 😉 Hope they develop now. I had a couple of tightenings with pains earlier today but that's tailed off again so I'm back to the waiting game...

Smith7 · 10/10/2017 21:28

Fingers crossed Glitter xx

GlitterSparkles17 · 10/10/2017 21:32

I don’t know what to think coz they are only bad when I’m laid down, if I get up they ease off. That will be me getting zero sleep lol

Well everything’s stopped usual so no closer to baby being here 😭😭😭

Sorry to hear that Glitter! What pesky babies we seem to have. I've just given up assuming mine will ever come and am expecting to be pregnant for Christmas as this rate 😂

GlitterSparkles17 · 11/10/2017 07:33

😂😂 I think we all will be by the sounds of it!

OP posts:
Smith7 · 11/10/2017 08:12

Oh that’s rubbish...they say if they are contractions they don’t ease when you move or change position.....it’s my birthday on Saturday and really wanted a drink at this rate I’ll be still pregnant 😓😓. Feeling grumpy today x

GlitterSparkles17 · 11/10/2017 08:23

Oh gosh smith what a terrible way to spend your birthday, uncomfortable and fed up, hopefully baby will make an appearance for you before Saturday!

Fingers crossed for you Smith. I've got a midwife appointment tomorrow and still deciding whether to accept a sweep or not. Will definitely ask her to have a look at cervix to see if anything's looking promising but really unsure if it is whether to go ahead with a sweep. Decisions decisions...

Smith7 · 11/10/2017 09:40

I think that’s a good idea, see what she says, it worked for my last little one but this time not budging an inch 🙈🙈. Good luck everyone another day xx

mummabubs · 11/10/2017 11:33

Glad it worked for you last time Smith! I think it's an internal battle between my own stubbornness and being very impatient to meet baby. I really want to avoid an induction if possible and my beautifully hippie antenatal classes touted that stretch and sweeps can lead you to be more likely to require assisted birth (i.e. Forceps/ ventouse) which sort of makes sense as it's encouraging things to start quicker than they would naturally. I'll wait and see, knowing my journey so far I'll go tomorrow and my cervix will be completely hard and closed anyway so this won't even be a decision I have to make! 😂 Thinking labour-y thoughts for all of us today! X

Smith7 · 11/10/2017 12:18

Ha ha bless you mumma...that’s made me
chuckle. I would like to avoid induction as had my last at home and hoping for another Home birth, however if you go over by 14 days and refuse induction they like you to be monitored every day, which is 40mins away plus for me! All these decisions to make should be enough to send us all in to labour lol. At least we have each other to moan and groan to xx

Bumdishcloths · 11/10/2017 12:23

Well I'm due today, got a sweep at 1pm... woke up this morning with period pain type niggles so maybe things are getting going? I'm not going to hold my breath though Grin

mummabubs · 11/10/2017 12:56

Hope you have better luck than the rest of us @Bumdishcloths!

I feel the same @Smith7, not brave enough to go for a home birth first time round but I've got my heart a bit set on a low-intervention MLU waterbirth which I can't have if induced. I've had to go to hospital for monitoring a couple of times in the third trimester as I have a mild bicornuate uterus so baby can turn to an unstable lie quite easily- both times I had to wait over 2 hours to be seen and then a further hour after monitoring just for a consultant to pop their head in the door and 'release' me back home in 30 seconds, so the idea of daily monitoring sounds pretty hellish to me!! Come on babies, don't keep us waiting much longer!!

Smith7 · 11/10/2017 16:15

I know im dreading the thought of induction as it just cascades to other forms of intervention which, like you I would rather avoid. I’ve been bouncing round every opportunity I get......I will move this lazy boy!! How did the sweep go bumdishcloths?? X

GlitterSparkles17 · 11/10/2017 16:33

I could honestly cry right now, I’m in so much pain, irregular contractions that are most likely braxton hicks, my legs hurt, it hurts to walk, it hurts to sit down, it hurts to lay down 😭 hope you’ve all had a better day than me

OP posts:
Bumdishcloths · 11/10/2017 16:44

Apparently I have a very favourable cervix - I feel like I should have got a certificate or something Grin been having more period types cramps since, but nothing regular to speak of as yet. Crossing my fingers that it all kicks off overnight to be honest haha

Bumdishcloths · 11/10/2017 16:45

@GlitterSparkles17 have you got a birthing/gym ball thing, I'm finding that's more comfortable than sitting on anything else at the moment

GlitterSparkles17 · 11/10/2017 17:14

That’s good news bumdishcloths

Yes I have a gym ball, not comfortable either!! I can’t win right now

OP posts:
Smith7 · 11/10/2017 17:28

Could be the start of things fingers crossed for you all....keep us posted all can’t wait to hear we have had a birth xx

mummabubs · 11/10/2017 17:52

It's exciting isn't it (despite being very frustrating at the same time!)

Fingers still crossed for you @Bumdishcloths, let us know!

Sending you a virtual hug Glitter, I have literally been on my feet since 7am this morning with only an hour sat down to eat lunch. Felt a need to gut and clean our entire downstairs (I refuse to call this nesting, more like I suddenly felt a need to make our house presentable for our dog sitter during labour and post baby visitors 🙈). I'm happy to have a clean house and have sorted out cupboards that haven't been sorted in 4 years... equally I'm now physically broken from the neck down and feel like a twit as if anything does happen now I'm pretty much unable to move. Silly mummabubs. 😩

GlitterSparkles17 · 11/10/2017 18:29

Contractions 5-7 mins apart, think this might be it!! Pain isn’t too bad right now, going to be devistated if they ease off and stop again

OP posts:
mummabubs · 11/10/2017 18:48

Yay!!! Fingers doubly crossed for you Glitter! I'm having irregular painful tightenings but I suspect this is more from overdoing it physically... but I wouldn't complain if it wasn't!

Smith7 · 11/10/2017 19:47

Omg so excited for you Glitter 🙌🏼🙌🏼
