@mrsjkerry I've no idea what it means, mine was head down but not engaged at last check but l see MW on Wednesday so hoping it's getting into position now!

Bobbiepin · 23/10/2017 20:22

@mrsjkerry that's good, its all about how much head they can feel. I was 3/5ths at 39 weeks, so you're more engaged than me+

mrsjkerry · 23/10/2017 20:34

No @Bobbiepin I’m not sure that’s right. 1/5 engaged means only 1/5 of the baby’s head is in your pelvis. 3/5 is more!

@mrsjkerry that's what my midiwfe told me. My numbers have been going down, was 4/5ths at 38 weeks then 3/5ths at 39. When's your next appointment? Maybe ask then, its possible some midwives do things the other way round.

mrsjkerry · 23/10/2017 20:57

Ah. Yes they sometimes write it as “palpable” so that’s how much of the baby’s head they can feel.

If you’re numbers are going down they’re doing it that way. So if you’re 3/5 palpable then that means you are 2/5 engaged!!!

Squigglefish · 23/10/2017 21:27

Mine told me the same as yours @Bobbiepin

Bobbiepin · 23/10/2017 22:02

@mrsjkerry have you been told any other numbers in the past so you know whether they mean engaged or palpable? Either way at 38 weeks I was 1/5th engaged. No sign of baby yet, despite trying to dance her out at a wedding yesterday.

lydiangel83 · 24/10/2017 06:47

I’m not sure which way round means more head in pelvis but was told about 5wks ago that I’m 3/5 engaged. I thought that was exciting but no further progress since then! Midwife tomorrow at 39 wks so hoping for an update then!

mrsjkerry · 24/10/2017 11:09

I wish they’d start checking to see if the cervix was at all soft or dilated....

@Mrsjkerry turns out being engaged or not doesn't mean much. Baby was born this evening despite not being fully engaged to start with. She weighs 7lbs 12oz and was born at 9.23pm.

ValentineFizz · 25/10/2017 07:10

Congratulations @Bobbiepin, that's lovely news! Flowers

mrsjkerry · 25/10/2017 07:42

@Bobbiepin congratulations! Loving the new arrivals. Only 8 weeks and 4 days until due date. Cannot come quickly enough!

NC1990 · 25/10/2017 08:43

Congratulations Bobbiepin, what fantastic news. These babies will start arriving thick and fast now 😄

3 weeks to go for me 😬

TheLionQueen1 · 25/10/2017 09:17

Congratulations @Bobbiepin !!!

lydiangel83 · 25/10/2017 09:27

Ooh @Bobbiepin congratulations amazing news! Was arrival last night unexpected then? I hope you’re all doing well!

I’m also happy to hear this as I had crazy night and am convinced baby is breech now after being 3/5 engaged for 6 wks. Have routine Midwife later as am 39 wks today.

TheLionQueen1 · 25/10/2017 09:47

Fingers crossed for you @lydiangel83 !!

lydiangel83 · 25/10/2017 09:51

Ah thanks @TheLionQueen1 how are you getting on? Are you at home? Do your days mostly consist of eating sleeping changing nappies and being in love?!

lydiangel83 · 25/10/2017 09:52

@mrsjkerry I read an article that daily prunes can help soften cervix. Seems like a long shot but willing to try it!

mrsjkerry · 25/10/2017 09:57

I heard this too @lydiangel83. But I’ve still got pretty bad morning sickness at 38 weeks, and can’t stomach the thought of prunes!!!

OP posts:
TheLionQueen1 · 25/10/2017 10:13

@lydiangel83 yes at home, we're off for a walk and shopping today! He's been very grizzly past week so hoping he'll stay calm whilst we are out! He's just so adorable, they are the biggest time wasters in the world, I just stare at him 😂

@mrsjkerry do you have an exercise ball thing? Can't remember you saying, but if so get bouncing on that!

mrsjkerry · 25/10/2017 10:15

@TheLionQueen1 I do have one. How does it help??

OP posts:
Squigglefish · 25/10/2017 13:24

Congratulations @Bobbiepin x

Missonhartbaby · 25/10/2017 20:26

@Bobbiepin massive congratulations! And welcome to the scary world of motherhood!! Xx

ScotsLamb · 25/10/2017 20:37

@lydiangel83 how was your midwife appointment?

I had my 31 week appointment today. BP good, baby's heart rate is at 150, bump is measuring bang on 50th percentile and head is down but not in my pelvis. Definitely feels lower than yesterday as my pelvis feels fuller.

I'm secretly hoping for a week early.
