@anutter if blood sugars stay level risks are minimal so good to be checking really sounds as if GD is stable at present (if you actually have it that is) which is a positive but I get your worry. I have twins and I prayed this pregnancy would be a singleton (I wasn't bothered in previous pregnancies) as I couldnt do with any extra things to worry about with my twins I had the 4 weekly scans the risk of this that and the other every body wanting to tell me about the neighbours cats aunty's owner who had their twins early 🙈 and my pregnancy was actually great babies born at 38 weeks and grwat weights only worries were thst i ended up with an irratable uterus at 33 weeks (tbh by 36 weeks it was a viciously angry....absulety fuming uterus)that put me on bed rest for a short while and

obstetric cholestasis at 35 weeks which in all honesty sounds much scarier if you google it but talking with midwives who deal with it every day is a cause for concern hence extra monitoring but other than maternal discomfort causes few risks to baby when treated . So all in all was an ok pregnancy but I could not cope with that again after the miscarriages I just need a smooth zero complications pregnancy this time

Hi all, cautiously re-joining - I was in this group back in June-July so recognise a few of you, but sadly had a second miscarriage then. I'm now around 6 weeks pregnant again (although not completely sure on dates), 3rd pregnancy this year but no children as yet. Incredibly anxious this time around!

AmyB1986 · 04/10/2017 11:46

Thanks everyone it’s been a roller coaster this week. Back at the hospital at 2 today for all my pre clerking and the steroids.

@halloumisandwich welcome back and congrats.

@AnUtterIdiot sounds like they’re on the ball with the gd. I’m sure I’ve got undiagnosed gd which is the cause of some god these problems we are having at the min. Should find out more after babe arrives.

@minniemouseears I had to swear when the Midwife gave me that injection yesterday. My god it hurt and driving home was literally a pain in the ass! Dreading todays jab to the arse.

I’m getting super nervous now. DH is scrubbing things to help me out. Dd1 keeps jumping around randomly and dd2 is emotional still. She said yesterday through tears ‘mummy I’m not ready!’ I asked her why and she said ‘because I don’t know how to be a big sister.’ I gave her a cuddle and said that no one knows how to be a big sister you have to learn when baby arrives. I said I didn’t know how to be a mummy but I learned. She’s so sweet and said ‘you’re the best mummy in the world so I’m sure I can do it like you did.’ Bless her heart, had a few tears after that.

theotherendofthesockportal · 04/10/2017 11:59

@AmyB1986 your daughter sounds wonderful, I had a bit of an emotional moment reading that. Wishing you good luck for the rest of the week.

@halloumisandwich welcome back! I remember you from before and the TTC group too. Sending lots of positive thoughts your way

DrRBannerx · 04/10/2017 12:06

Hi ladies, hope you don't mind me posting! I'm pregnant after three consecutive MC and I'm on baby aspirin, has anyone got any success stories from taking it and having a successful pregnancy? Congratulations everyone xx

Hazandduck · 04/10/2017 12:33

Aw @AmyB your post made me tear up too, what a lovely thing for your daughter to say! She sounds like she'll be a fantastic big sister. Xx

Hazandduck · 04/10/2017 12:34

Welcome back @Halloumi. It sounds like you've had a tough year, fingers crossed everything goes smoothly now. Have you booked any early scans or anything? X

halloumisandwich · 04/10/2017 12:56

Thanks for the welcome! Nice to see so many people I remember and see all is going well for you. Hope all goes well at the hospital for you later Amy, your daughter sounds adorable!
I was told by a GP that I'd get an early scan next time round after my last MC, but I went today and got told that wasn't going to happen. I cried, and she asked why I was upset. Well lady, sit down and let me tell you a bit about going through a miscarriage.
So I'm not sure whether to book a private scan now. My MCs have happened at 11 weeks and 12 weeks, so not sure how much reassurance a scan would be. Although I guess a scan might have shown it died sooner than that, or a slow heart beat or whatever. I'll chat to DH about it tonight.

Doublechocolatetiffin · 04/10/2017 13:11

Wow @amy only 2 days to go!! How exciting Grin and what a cutie you've got for your daughter - she sounds so lovely.

@anutteridiot sorry that they suspect Gd, but at least they are being over cautious which means you are well looked after!

Welcome @drbannerx I haven't got any experience with aspirin myself. I started taking it but kept on getting really bad pains in my stomach so stopped. I'm hoping that wasn't a bad decision!

Welcome back @Halloumi lovely to see you here. Sorry that your GP was awful, what an annoying lady - really asking why are you sad. Ffs. Did she miss sensitivity training at med school? Can you go and see the GP you spoke to last time? I had a scan at 7 weeks which reassured me for about a day! I wanted one though because I'd had a mmc and wanted to know earlier rather than later if something had gone wrong. Now nervously awaiting my 12 week scan on the 24th Oct. Its such a nerve wracking time, but there are a few of us here at a similar stage so we can all hand hold each other along the way. Fingers and toes crossed that this one sticks for you.

lisara79 · 04/10/2017 16:21

Hi All... 12 week scan went great. Baby was jumping around with little heart beating... so happy... Thanks for your support

Wonderful news lisara!! 😃

AmyB1986 · 04/10/2017 17:31

@lisara79 beautiful scan pic, so clear. Glad everything is ok 😁

Back from the hospital, all set for Friday. It’s all starting to feel real now.

Just wanted to say thank you to all you wonderful ladies for your support through this pregnancy. You’re all fantastic. If I can get this far after 5 mc’s I know you all can do it too.
We all deserve a happy ending after such shitty times previously.
I never thought this would happen and it has after not trusting my body to do what it should do naturally.

I’ll post an update when we are all settled.
Again thank you so much xx

lisara79 · 04/10/2017 17:33

Aww @amyb1986 that is lovely and thanks for your support too... please let us know how it goes... all the luck in the world xx

MsJuniper · 04/10/2017 18:27

Great news lisara and lovely pic!

Best of luck Amy, we are looking forward to hearing from you. Those were lovely (and true) words about the group.

itsgoingtoofast · 04/10/2017 19:03

@AnUtterIdiot I've had GD twice now, once undiagnosed and once well managed. I felt incredibly well looked after that time and that everything was well under control. Have you been referred to the diabetes team? They were incredibly helpful to me, I had to test my blood sugar before and after every meal and by being really careful with my diet (with their guidance) I was luckily able to manage without taking metformin, although I got very close at the end.

Try not to be overly worried, when it's well managed the risks are really low. My DD's blood sugar was tested before and after every feed for the first 24 hrs and all was fine after that. I actually was very healthy and recovered really well as had had such good care taken of me. I know it's scary, but many people have a very similar tale to tell as me Smile

With my first it was completely missed as I was low BMI (despite the fact I had all the other markers) and DS had a tricky start as his sugars dropped so low after birth. He had a really high birth weight and was a natural delivery so it was all a bit scary. He has no lasting effects though so we were lucky, even with it being missed. This time round they are really dragging their feet with testing etc and I am pushing quite hard. I would much rather that like with you they err on the side of caution. I am sure you will have excellent care taken of you. If you have any questions though, let me know. Hopefully I'll be able to help!

MsJuniper · 04/10/2017 19:10

AnUtter I had GD with DS. It wasn't controllable by diet unfortunately so I did have to take metformin and later insulin. Nothing I was doing, just one of those things. It really didn't affect things too much and DS was a normal weight. One good thing was that I actually ended up healthier as I wasn't tempted to eat crap and I even ended up losing weight (or rather I stayed the same as the baby grew!)

itsgoingtoofast · 04/10/2017 19:16

@MsJuniper have you had anything mentioned this time round? I was the same, actually felt healthier after the pregnancy than before! It is just your luck with these things isn't it? Bodies do funny things in pregnancy.....

MsJuniper · 04/10/2017 19:29

I've got an appt on 31 Oct (spooky!) in the diabetes clinic, I'll be 18 weeks then. I won't have a GTT but they will give me the equipment to start monitoring my blood. I've been trying to eat healthily so far but I expect the same thing to happen. It was post fasting (i.e. First thing in the morning) that was the problem for me which was why diet made no difference.

itsgoingtoofast · 04/10/2017 19:42

Ah yeah I see. My fasting was always broadly ok but it all went a bit wrong in the day. Strange how it affects different people in such different ways.

That's good to know timing wise, I'm getting a GTT on the 24th and depending on results will be referred to diabetes team. Wish I could just go and speak to them myself earlier though. They told me last time I should go straight there but everyone seems a bit disinterested this time. I'm sure I was monitoring by 16 weeks ish last time after a borderline GTT at 12 weeks

minniemouseears · 04/10/2017 20:08

@anutter yup 38 and given a days notice for c section as twin 1went breach at last minute head down the week before but went breech with bottom painfully engaged in pelvis she b#ggered the exit strategy entirely 🙈 but would have gotten further I'm sure neither twin was in a rush to leave the big mumma house lots of twin mums have to go through the induction process in fact since born all twin mums I've spoken too all went to term so I'm sure all will be well from that point of view. I think people genuinely think scaring a pregnant woman into being more cautious is helpful it's the equivalent of don't climb that tree you might fall off even though most of the time you just have a hoot climbing a tree

It must be so frustrating utter. You are clearly aware of the risks, far more than any random anecdote! I hope the monitoring goes ok and you feel well looked after with the GD.
