Anyone applied for Maternity Allowance lately? How long ?

Hello

Has anyone applied for mat allowance lately that is an employee?
Trying to work out how long it will take to hear back. Lots of old threads about it taking months and there being a backlog, but nothing recent.
I applied 15th august and they set my payslips back on 18th august (fast!)
There was a slip saying up to 24 working days for any more info..

Hoping itl be faster though and not one of these cases that takes months.

Anyone heard back lately?

Thank you 😁

Bump...

Mine took the exact amount of time they said in a text to me when they received the application. It was 24 working days from then. I got no letter, just the money in my account.

Tattybogle89 · 28/08/2017 15:10

Thank you. Did u get a letter soon after explaining how much you were entitled to?

I think mine was about 3 weeks. I got a text first saying it had been awarded and how much, then a letter a few days later!

Tattybogle89 · 29/08/2017 09:55

Oh that's good. Really hoping it's all sorted out quickly and the delays aren't happening anymore.
If anyone else has recent experience that would be great

I got told they don't even look at it until 6 weeks after it's received, some sort of built in delay, I'm pretty anxious about it as I know I need to pay some ni to get the higher rate but hmrc won't let me pay until the jobcentre have made a decision, which delays it further.

Tattybogle89 · 31/08/2017 08:01

Hm have you been told this by the jobcentre themselves? Did you receive the 24 working days info like myself or something different? That seems a very long time. I'm not sure if self employed and employed are different lengths to process or not?

OP posts:
Windbeneathmybingowings · 31/08/2017 08:38

I literally only got my payment last week, I applied in June so there doesn't seem to be a back log. I haven't received any letter telling me how much I got or the result of their decision, but I can work out it's the full amount. It shows in your account referenced "MA" so just keep an eye out.

Windbeneathmybingowings · 31/08/2017 08:39

Sorry - 6th July I applied!

Tattybogle89 · 31/08/2017 08:53

@windbeneathmybingowings Oh really that sounds quite fast then. Maybe still longer than 24 working days but not too bad? I thought it would be a letter first explaining then another wait for payment. Il keep an eye on my account then
Thanks

I did get told this by the jobcentre, maybe it's my area having high rates of people claiming?

Windbeneathmybingowings · 31/08/2017 10:10

It was about 24 days plus about 4/5 days for postage to them. I was terrified the whole time as I had no updates and although I fit the criteria I was nervous that they'd find some loop hole. Very pleased with the outcome! Good luck!

Tattybogle89 · 31/08/2017 13:11

Thank you I hope it works out. I have dated the application a bit early I think now that's worrying me.
I've just read you need to be 26 weeks to apply. I applied when I was 25weeks and 4 days..
I did this though, because I looked at the table on mat allowance form that shows the 15th week before the week your baby is due.. then I added a week onto that date (thinking it would give me the date that was 14 weeks before baby was due)

Turns out that's made it a few days before 26weeks. So do you think that will matter!?

Will they just realise and sorry claim a few days later? Please don't say they will Sen fit all back ☹️

I applied on the 8th August, and they sent me a text on the 15th saying a decision could take up to 25 working days, haven't heard anything at all. My employer lied to me an saod i would be able to get it off them an then sent me forms to send off. Ive been without money since the beginning of August, as I've been really ill with hyperemesis. Anyone applied the same time an got a reply?Smile

Tattybogle89 · 07/09/2017 21:13

Hi I'm kindness of in the same boat and could do with hearing back fast. I tried calling but they said they can't tell me anything til after 24 working days are up. Which for me is the 21st September. Just hoping there isn't a backlog and that's genuinely the lastest il hear..

Hope it's not too much longer for you. I take it it's 24 working days from the text you sent rather than when you applied?

Anyone else applied recently? Hard to find threads that are current

I sent my application in on Monday, and received the text yesterday saying 24 working days. I'm not actually employed at the moment, but worked enough in the test period. I'm quite worried they will say no, even though they shouldn't as I meet the criteria. So, I'm probably not helping you at all as I'm behind you in the wait 😂 fingers crossed you don't have to wait as long as others have said they are waiting!! X

Marierose1996 · 08/09/2017 16:40

Hope it all works out for you as well. Just the stress of not knowing what's happening isnt good for any of us, and there is barely any information around to help us. I'll let you all know when i hear anythingSmileXx

Tattybogle89 · 09/09/2017 09:36

Yeah please keep us updated. I will call them again on working day 24 if I haven't heard. @merlins I am in similar situation and paranoid they will reject my claim

OP posts:
MerlinsLeftButtock · 09/09/2017 10:20

@tatty there was a post about a month ago and the op said she'd only just made it 26 weeks of working the test period and her application was accepted. So fingers crossed we are both ok! I worked 36 weeks during the text period so fingers crossed 🤞🏼

Tattybogle89 · 09/09/2017 12:04

@merlins I think I worked about 40 weeks ( as long as you don't have to have done full days each week?)
I'm sure we will be fine
I scared Myself reading about £27 a week amounts.. but I think that is specifically for the self employed who haven't paid enough national insurance or something?
Different sites seem to have unclear info on mat allowance for when you have left work already, but still meet the criteria.
Haven't started buying really yet, waiting on this coming through first. I'm almost 30 weeks
How far along are you?

Windbeneathmybingowings · 09/09/2017 13:53

That was my situation too - I had just come off maternity leave from my last pregnancy and they did accept mine Smile

MerlinsLeftButtock · 09/09/2017 14:07

I don't think it matters how many hours, just as long as you earned the minimum. Think it's like £30 a week, which seems hardly anything at all! But the way they word it on the .gov website is so confusing. I went from thinking I'd definitely be entitled to thinking I wouldn't be. But then realised that I must be 😂 I've not bought anything either. We've been surviving on my partners pitiful public sector wage, had our tax credits stopped, it's been so hard! I'm 27 wks on Monday. I got my payslips back this morning with the little note. So, you sent yours off before you were 26 weeks and now you're almost 30? Have the 24 days passed for you? Oh it all makes me so nervous!

Tattybogle89 · 09/09/2017 15:37

Yeah I can totally sympathise we are in much the same situation . It's hard.
I'm 30 weeks on Friday. I think I may have sent the forms a few days too earaly.. hoping not. .
I sent them I think 15th Aug and got the slip and payslips back 18th august saying 24 WORKING days.. which unfortunately works out around 21st September I think I should hear by.
Seems so long to wait.
Some people have said they got money in the bank before a letter.. others just got a text then money, and some people a letter which they had to send back confirming leave date.. and then got paid.
What a shambles

Got a phone call today saying my claim has been awarded, but i just had something missing that they wanted to confirm, then i got a text saying how much i was entitled and it would be in the next 10 working days so hopefully you should hear soonSmilexx
