Anyone applied for Maternity Allowance lately? How long ?

Hello

Has anyone applied for mat allowance lately that is an employee?
Trying to work out how long it will take to hear back. Lots of old threads about it taking months and there being a backlog, but nothing recent.
I applied 15th august and they set my payslips back on 18th august (fast!)
There was a slip saying up to 24 working days for any more info..

Hoping itl be faster though and not one of these cases that takes months.

Anyone heard back lately?

Thank you 😁

Awesome tatty! So how many 'working days' did that take? Hopefully the payment will be in your bank soon! Will they be back dating it from 29 weeks?

Tattybogle89 · 14/09/2017 18:04

So that was 19 working days from them returning my payslips , to me receiving the text.
It said ten working days for payment, and it will be backdated. But I called up today and they said it won't take that long and will be in next week . Hope all goes well for you x

Loads of people have got theirs before me an i applied before them. So you may nist get lucky, I'm pretty stressed about this to be honest as I don't have anything to survive on and i feel like a burden leaning on people, just want tthis to be over with nowSad

MerlinsLeftButtock · 16/09/2017 08:29

Oh gosh Marie, that must be so stressful. Probably a stupid question, but have you chased them up at all? How long have you been waiting?

Marierose1996 · 16/09/2017 10:02

Haven't rang them but will be doing Monday because i canr be struggling anymore. They paid another lady who applied after me, who also got her money from her employer this week too, so its just made me lose hope with everything :(

MerlinsLeftButtock · 19/09/2017 10:58

Any luck Marie? Did you call them?

meltingmarshmallows · 19/09/2017 11:00

Mine took 24 days but it was just a letter to say I'd get the bare minimum (£20 a week or something like that). I'm self employed so need to pay my NI early (it's due in Jan) and I'm now waiting for HMRC to get in touch about that.

I'm going to call them if I hear nothing by the end of the week. Just hoping this isn't a big delay as I'll need to sort HMRC then wait for a new letter from MA I guess.

Marierose1996 · 19/09/2017 12:03

I didn't call them, I'm assuming mine will be in this Friday as teo weeks later my payments start normally then. Not sure whether they will be funny with me checking whats happening xx

Tattybogle89 · 19/09/2017 17:55

@marierose have you been told you are getting and it hasn't gone in bank yet? I was told 10working days but when I phoned the man said 5 working days to release payment at there end. Still waiting but hopIng in before fri. It has been bank hols aswell x

I got the letter saying 5-10 working days, but still nothing either, still hoping also for money earlier x

Marierose1996 · 21/09/2017 07:20

They said i will get paid Friday, so hopefully you will as well :) x

Apologies for hijacking the thread a little, but you lot seem quite clued up about maternity allowance!

Does anyone know whether being on maternity leave and receiving maternity pay is classed as being "employed" and "earning"? From the little information out there, it seems you are still "employed" but it isn't clear whether the maternity payments are classed as "earnings".

I lost my job in August as I returned to work from my first maternity leave. I am currently 18 weeks pregnant with my second baby. I'm trying to work out if I will be entitled to maternity allowance as I was on maternity leave (but employed) for at least 26 of the qualifying weeks and I earned at least £30/week for 13 weeks (through maternity payments).

I've hopefully secured a new job (although this is just a temp job so there's every chance I won't be employed for the full 13 weeks), but until I am actually in the new job I don't think I am really secure.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Tattybogle89 · 21/09/2017 18:52

@marierose my first payment went in today backdated and second due in on 29th 😀

@coffee worksmart.org.uk/work-rights/family-friendly-work/maternity-leave/my-maternity-leave-about-finish-and-i-am-pregnant

This link might be useful. I think you will be entitled to mat allowance but I would call the mat allowance helpline , and they will let you know x

Tatty - Thanks so much for sharing that link. I really appreciate it!

MerlinsLeftButtock · 25/09/2017 10:55

@marie did you get your payment? Hope so!

chloecharlick · 14/10/2019 00:02

Hi has anyone applied for maternity allowance and not heard anything back? I thought even if you weren't entitled they would let you know. Also I fitted all the requirements for being entitled so Im not sure whats happening with it

chloecharlick · 14/10/2019 00:04

sorry Ive asked if anyones applied on a thread about maternity allowance lol I thought it was a new message

Bluebirds121 · 22/10/2019 09:53

@chloecharlick hi Chloe, I sent my stuff off Friday, got sent a text this morning saying

‘Thanks for your Maternity Allowance claim. We'll send you a decision within 14 weeks. You do not need to contact us.’

Seems so vague and a long wait! I’m due in 5 weeks and 2 days. Doesn’t give clarity if they’ll write to you confirming you’re entitlement or anything!

Leajase · 24/10/2019 09:33

Same here 14 weeks I need it before then the claim pack said 14 days I can't cope that long without money and don't want to go in universal credit because then my tax credits will stop I'm in limbo

ZenabMohaHijaz · 04/01/2020 16:16

Hi,
Have you received anything from the Maternity allowance yet? If yes how long after you applied?

I have applied over a month ago and nothing yet.
I’m getting a bit worried cause I had to leave my job.

Thank you

abbs1 · 04/01/2020 17:43

I applied just after christmas and been told 10 week wait for response atm.
