Good morning! I've had some light spotting this morning, first time pregnant so worrying now!! Do I need to phone the midwife?
She deemed me high risk due to my weight? Do I need to worry? Or do I need to just calm down? Xx

I would call the midwife best to be safe. I think light spotting is normal in the early stages of pregnancy but do call anyway x

Brenna24 · 24/08/2017 09:29

Definitely call the midwife. It is really common in early pregnancy to have some bleeding, but it can also be the sign of problems and the only way to tell is to speak to a midwife. I hope all is well.

Sussexgal · 24/08/2017 09:33

Thank you, I've got a dull ache as well, I've phoned and left a message, I'm just worrying about every twinge atm! X

Ok so I also got light headed, the midwife phoned and said to rest and not to go to work, and if it gets worse or doesn't go away I'm to call the hospital, but I forgot to ask how long I give it? Shall I rest all day and then see how I am tonight? Or rest and see how I am tomorrow? I'm such a worrier!! Xx

Sussexgal · 24/08/2017 13:33

She did as I said above thank you, but just worried how long I should wait and see how I am x

Hey Hun I had the same not sure where u are but google early pregnancy unit in your local hospital, I had the same and went the next day as u could do a self referral and all turned out ok for me, it was the well needed reassurance. Good luck and let me know how u get on xx

Sussexgal · 24/08/2017 17:05

Hiya thank you
I've rested all day and I still have the full ache and light headeness but haven't spotted for a couple hours, but I'm worried that's coz all I've done it lay in bed, worried that if I start doing things or go back to work tomorrow it will start again, I also don't want be over dramatic!! X

Expectingbsbunumber2 · 24/08/2017 17:13

Just keep an eye on it like she said. Try not to worry I know it's easier said than done x

Brenna24 · 24/08/2017 23:26

If it starts to get worse phone her again. Otherwise give it a day or two to see what happens. I had light but constant spotting of red blood for 9 days this pregnancy between 7 and 8+2 weeks. I am now 15+3 and things were certainly fine at my last scan at 12+4. I had spotting in my first pregnancy at the same point where I was scanned at the beginning and end of it and baby was fine, alive and growing and all was well. Baby then died at another point with no signs whatsoever anything was wrong and I didn't find out until a scan 2 weeks later and didn't have any more bleeding until I finally started to miscarry 9 days after that (which started with massive cramping, then later proper bleeding). I had two more early miscarriages between that pregnancy and this one, both of which started with massive cramping, then proper bleeding. I have learned just to accept that for me spotting needs reported, but not to worry unduely about it. I freak out now about everything being fine, which is a little more difficult to explain to people.

Sussexgal · 26/08/2017 14:23

Ok ladies so I've started spotting again 😭 And I've got the full ache in my stomach as well 😭 I've phoned 111 they are going to get a doctor to ring me
But I'm so scared I'm going to lose this baby!!! Xx

Fingers crossed Hun, sending u a hug xxxx let us know what doctor says xxxx

harrietm87 · 26/08/2017 15:40

Fingers crossed for you and hope it's
all ok. Fwiw I've had 3 miscarriages. The first 2 were at 5 weeks and started with really bad cramping then red blood in full flow, no mistaking it.
The third was a missed mc, no signs whatsoever and discovered at scan.

I'm pregnant again now and have had brown and red spotting at 5 and 6 weeks (first time I've ever had this) and had 2 early scans which have showed baby is fine. I'm still only 7 weeks so early days but it just goes to show that spotting isn't necessarily a sign of mc and you can mc without spotting. It's such a stressful time.
Keep us updated.

sonlypuppyfat · 26/08/2017 15:44

I used to lose loads of brown blood it used to really scare me. Everything was fine in the end

DirtyChaiLatte · 26/08/2017 15:54

Have you had any scans at all so far to confirm that the pregnancy is in the uterus?

If you don't know for sure that it's in the uterus then it could be ectopic which is pretty dangerous. Pain and spotting are worrying. It's there any pain near your shoulder tip?

I personally wouldn't think twice about going to A&E if the pain gets worse.

I'm not saying that it's ectopic, but just be aware of it and don't wait too long in pain.

Brenna24 · 26/08/2017 17:12

How are you doing now?

Sussexgal · 26/08/2017 17:35

Hey ladies so the out there f hours doctor had a feel and did a pregnancy test which was still positive, he said it could be a threatened miscarriage but as the spotting is quite light it's hard to tell, said couldn't do a scan as it's so early and I might not be 9 weeks, he told me to rest all weekend and see my own doctor on Tuesday, he said if the cramping or blood gets any worse I'm too go straight back to hospital but atm it's a case of wait and see 😔 Xx

Vickivix83 · 26/08/2017 18:39

Sussexgal · 26/08/2017 18:47

Hey @sussexgal, I am in exactly the same position as you, waiting until Tuesday to go back to hospital, sick with worry. Sending hugs xx

Sussexgal · 26/08/2017 19:06

Just keep your feet up and try and watch lots of netflicks or something to pass the time. As I say I have a history of miscarriage and had 9 days of bleeding with this one and we got through it. I watched an insane amount of Taggart and Rebus and just tried to make the hours go by. I am thinking of you.

Sussexgal · 27/08/2017 11:26

Thank you, I am getting a bit stir crazy being indoors but I know it's worth it, luckily no blood today but I'm worried it will come back at any moment! Wish I'd pushed for a scan so I felt a bit more sure! Xxx

OP posts:
Brenna24 · 28/08/2017 14:04

I hear you with the going stir crazy. I was doing loads of walking and cycling (including a 40 mile trip weekly) and have spent the last 3 months stuck in and around the flat. I am going insane. But I hope it will be worth it.
