I don't know what I weighed before but if lost 2kg between my scan at 10weeks and my scan at 13......some of that may have been water as I had definitely overfilled my bladder at my first scan.....same scales too!!

SS81C · 04/09/2017 08:26

I not if. Urgh....

CL1982 · 04/09/2017 08:31

@mummyGof2boys it was 5kg when weighed at 10 weeks 😱😵😱

DH and I are planning a bit of a health kick this month to see if I can maintain and he can lose some weight as is a bit bad!!!!

Despite living myself in oil twice a day first stretch mark appeared on my boobs yesterday. Weird as I have pretty small boobs. I guess I can deal with one 🤔 No more though please body!!

@CL1982 I put 3 stone on with both boys and a lot by the time 12 weeks as I ate through the nausea. This time I have been very sick so haven't had much of an appetite and I think running about after the boys is helping. I'm not too fussed if I put 3 stone on again. I think that's about average.

@SS81C What did you put on with your first? It's difficult isn't it. Especially when cravings kick in eeek.

SS81C · 04/09/2017 09:35

@mummygof2boys maybe 12kg which I think is about average....im naturally quite slim. I lost a shit load of weight postnatally through breastfeeding and generally not eating enough though and I've only just got back to my pre-first pregnancy weight......
I think the important thing is eating healthily and getting some regular gentle exercise in pregnancy. Make sure you're getting enough calories @cl1982 if you're dieting it's best to make sure you're following a plan for pregnancy.
I'm awful for snacking. Especially these last few months when I haven't been able to stomach big meals.
Braving ikea this morning and didn't realise it wasn't open until 10 so gonna grab a cuppa and a bun in the restaurant.....haha.

Sah2241 · 04/09/2017 10:15

I've put on about 3kgs so far, not too bad for almost 17 weeks but I'm very conscious of not putting on too much. Last time I put on about 13/14lbs before going into hospital, and was about 4.5lbs heavier after she was born, but since then I've put on loads of weight and when I found out I was pregnant this time I weighed almost the same as I did at 38 weeks 😳!

Lauralou031986 · 04/09/2017 10:19

I don't really no how much iv put on, I'm glad iv put a bit of weight on actually, I'm sure other people are aswell lol, does anybody else find that there struggling to sleep? I find myself waking up early hours and then I'm awake for a few hours then Angry

SS81C · 04/09/2017 12:44

@lauralou....ive got terrible insomnia....ok at getting to sleep but then waking up at 3 and not able to get back to sleep! Unless the toddler has a bad nights sleep then I feel like I could sleep forever....haha.

CL1982 · 04/09/2017 13:56

@Lauralou031986 I did at weird times. Around 12 weeks maybe? I'm sleeping better now though.

Morning all

I've put on about 2 kg so far I think but we don't have scales at home.

@Lauralou031986 you are right, sleeping can be challenging. I'm still getting up about 6 times a night for loo trips. As DH tells me that I woke up this morning and started singing to myself (no recollection of this at all- must have been sleep singing).

Just had appointment with the anaesthetist so we have a plan if cerclage or c section needed. I've had pretty disastrous anaesthesia in the past so it's nice to have a clear plan in place so if it all kicks off DH can say - 'that's p 14 in the notes.' Might be a true lawyer and stick a post it on it.

Wish this nausea would stop.

CL1982 · 05/09/2017 12:07

@blueobsessive I'm sorry you're still having nausea :( that is very frustrating....

OP posts:
SS81C · 05/09/2017 12:27

If you end up with a chunky file @blueobsessive post it noting the anaesthetic plan is always useful......can never find those in a hurry...... glad you've got an early plan in place that must be reassuring. Hope you feel better soon...im feeling sick again today but I've got a stinking headache so thinking maybe a migraine - and I'm on a night shift today.
Plus the MIL was supposed to be having DD1 this afternoon but is now working until at least 3.....which isn't really that helpful although I can have a shower and a peaceful dinner I guess....

Sorry I'm a right whinge bag at the moment...

thaigreencurry82 · 05/09/2017 17:42

Hi ladies,

got my combined test results back.

Risk of Down's is 1: 2,600 and risk of the other trisomies is 1:35,000 and less than 1:50,000.

Would you be reassured with a 1: 2,600 for Down's or would you do the Harmony test as well? I'm 13+3 and not sure how late you can do Harmony? I turn 35 next month and this is my first.

mummyGof2boys · 05/09/2017 17:49

@thaigreencurry82 I have. I idea about the results of the downs screening and harmony as we have always decided not to bother with them. Hope something can help

SS81C · 05/09/2017 17:50

I think I was about that with my first and I didn't bat an eyelid at it. That's a low result (especially as you're approaching 35). High is usually over 1:250 or 1:150 depending on the area.

Its a very very small chance - as a percentage that's 0.00038%.

Its worth remembering that the harmony isn't diagnostic either - it's just more accurate....

Personally I can think of better ways to spend the money as its still quite expenaive but if it would give you some peace of mind then there's no harm - you get another chance to see the wiggly monkey. I'm not sure what the cut off is but I think it's much further on in pregnancy.

thaigreencurry82 · 05/09/2017 19:28

thanks SS81C, i've been really chilled about the pregnancy so far, not wanted any early scans or anything so i'm probably not going to have it as it is low risk as you say. If i change my mind though it can be done up until really late in pregnancy. i think it's a great innovation and glad it's going to be available on the NHS from 2018 for other mums to be should they want it.

blueobsessive · 05/09/2017 19:43

Thanks @SS81C . I think I'm on track for a chunky file so I might go even more lawyer on them an do them a contents page of key pages (although tbh the anaesthetic one is the key one. Not sure they'd be desperate to know of any others). Don't want them to take one look a tabbed file, take fright and assume that I might be a nightmare patient. I'm always aware that I might look rather terrifying on paper (I'm nice really- honest).

Hope the headache is improving and your shift goes smoothly.

@thaigreencurry82 don't be put off by @SS81C 's absolutely sky high result this time around. Mine was something like 1:7500. I'm a similar age. Nearly didn't have it done as it wouldn't change what we'd do (really tough time ttc- ing) but these things are really personal.

mummyGof2boys · 05/09/2017 19:52

Hubby just ordered me pizza and look at the note he left. It proper cracked me up 😂😂

How is everyone doing? Hubby is back next Wednesday thank god. I'm getting super tired. Four weeks is such a long time

Part 2 - anyone found out they are pregnant and want some buddies
thaigreencurry82 · 05/09/2017 20:24

Hi mummyG that note is hilarious!

I'm still struggling with fatigue and nausea at 13 weeks, vomited last night on the way home from work and feeling a bit queasy at the moment. Hey ho, all part of the experience!

mummyGof2boys · 05/09/2017 20:36

It really made me giggle. Oh I hope the nausea and vomiting stops soon for you. Mine stopped this week at 15 weeks. It's not fun is it. Good sign of hormone levels though.

CL1982 · 05/09/2017 21:17

Hey everyone-managed to go swimming today. Was pretty pathetic. Did half an hour in the slow lane and got overtaken by everyone but still pleased I managed to actually get into the pool!!

@thaigreencurry82 Don't worry about your test results. I think 1:25 is something to worry about but those odds you got are pretty good. You can always have an amnesiosis (spelling!) if you're worried but I think your odds are good.

@mummyGof2boys I have just finished feeling sick (I hope!!) so I think it's about average to slacken off at 14/15 weeks which is good. Although a few ladies i know felt sick the whole way through.

mummyGof2boys · 05/09/2017 21:26

@CL1982 well done. I think I'm going to take the kids swimming on Sunday with my mum. They love the pool.

Got my 16 week midwife appointment on Thursday. I can't ever from the last two but do they listen into babies heartbeat?

blueobsessive · 06/09/2017 07:24

@mummyGof2boys that note is fabulous!

Well done on the swimming @CL1982 . It is really fabulous exercise. Also, now you are through the first 12 weeks it is possible to start pilates if you are keen. My teacher recommended the Lynne Robinson book on pilates in pregnancy.

Is anyone signing up to do nct? Our closest course seems to be the 'signature' one which is more expensive than the 'essentials' one (a short bus ride away). Both are really rather pricey. I know meeting new parents at the same stage would be good, and might be nice for the babies, but my heart sinks rather at 2 while Saturdays of course and 2 hours mid week on top of all the other appointments. Also, having given birth before (although v early) are we going to be the odd ones out? Those who have had kids before, did you do it before and did you find it helpful?

mummyGof2boys · 06/09/2017 07:49

@blueobsessive I didn't use nct classes. I started my antenatal classes and got to go to one before baby number one surprised us with being early. There are lots of different groups you can go to once you have the baby and meet mums in the same situation as you. I made myself go to the local baby group, local breastfeeding group (I bottle fed but was still welcome) and I also went to sling meets which was good too.

CL1982 · 06/09/2017 09:34

@mummyGof2boys yes I think so. Although we now have three appointments including my 616 week so I think we are getting scans and dopplers galore that day!!
