@blueobsessive I absolutely love law. I completed my first year with the open university of Scotland and then along came baby number two and I have had no time to complete year two. I will hopefully get back into it. Lots of love and cuddles to you for Sunday and look forward to hearing from you and hopefully drama free. Mischievous baby.

@SS81C A hugely demanding job. My friend is a midwife and was doing 60 hour weeks right up until she dropped. No idea how she done it.

@CL1982 And @Sussexgal Iv been in retail as well and the constant smile and smiling at people screaming at you is trying in itself. Same with you @Lauralou031986 Can't imagine working with drunken bums is easy.

Childminding isn't always what I done. I'm a nurse by trade but with hubby working away for so long and now baby number 3 on the way it made sense to do something I could do without costing massive amounts in childcare.

Goodness it does sound like we're all busy people! I'm also a lawyer, but I work in a university rather than private practice. I love it - hard work but its quite a relaxed environment and not too much clock watching which comes in very handy when I'm in half an hour late after doing the school run 😳.

Just catching up on all the posts over the past week or so. @blueobsessive I really hope things calm down for you, you've had such a stressful time so far it must be really hard, especially after losing Olivia. You sound like you are doing a great job in keeping it all together.

I work as a reporter (local rag, not the Daily Mail).

Switch between days in the office, days in court and the odd day in a muddy field/car/on a doorstep.

CL1982 · 25/08/2017 23:19

@FairfaxAikman That is still so cool! In my head you are Lois Lane. I think not working for the Daily Fail is also a definite plus point 😜

I have done the odd freelance shift for the DM though (long time ago when I worked for an agency).
They once paid me to sit drinking (non-alcoholic) in the Balmoral hotel in Edinburgh waiting for guests at Zara Phillip's wedding to come me back so could get the goss on the reception.
My relief turned up before any guests did Grin

CL1982 · 25/08/2017 23:51

Ha!! That is classic :)

Goodness we are all busy people. Everyone's jobs sound super interesting. Think we will all need to make sure we look after ourselves.
I definitely won't be pushing myself to work as late as I did last time....currentky pondering if I can finish at Christmas haha!!
I'm having a family day today and then working Sunday Monday so if I'm not around much I'll catch up Tuesday!
Have a great bank holiday weekend lots of snuggles to you all.xxx

Sah2241 · 26/08/2017 16:55

This weekend I am mostly having a massive temper tantrum with my family 🙄. I've had really bad allergies all week, am totally congested, haven't slept properly all week and have had a horrible sinus headache for 3 days, so I asked my husband if I could go and lie down for an hour (after doing 3 loads of washing, the weekly shop at Tesco, cleaning the house and prepping dinner for 8 people tonight - he went on a 4hr bike ride). No sooner had I closed my eyes than I sensed the presence of a small child followed by the inevitable "Mummy...". I packed her off upstairs, but the pattern repeated itself for the next half an hour until I completely gave up and got up. Found my husband very "busy" being manly, doing vague manly things in his manly garage, all of which were so important that they prevented him from actually keeping tabs on his daughter- hence my temper tantrum 😡. On the plus side, they are no both so scared of me that they're giving me a wide berth for a while, so I now have peace to sit on the sofa and watch trash tv - hurrah, every cloud really does have a silver lining! Rant over 😂😂

Lauralou031986 · 26/08/2017 18:20

@Mimilicious013 BBQ was good , nice to be out with friends didn't have a great lot to eat and now I want peanut butter and jam on toast lol

Urgh-I really want to donate cord blood when the baby is born but they only do it through a 'select' few hospitals-so frustrating.

www.nhsbt.nhs.uk/cord-blood-bank/donate/

Anyone got any ideas how I can still do this?

OP posts:
blueobsessive · 28/08/2017 16:30

Hi @CL1982 am I right in thinking that you are in Oxfordshire? This is the ox uni trust's policy. Could you deliver in one of their hospitals (am v much in favour of large university teaching hospitals as they have a wide range of expertise, usually on site, if things were to go wrong - which of course is never the hope. Ive been served well by my local one this far, although now I'm kn first name terms with the reception staff and most of my midwife and obst team, it's starting to feel a bit too much like home. As someone who is no stranger to the inside of an ambulance I personally would not greatly enjoy an ambulance transfer mid labour).

Failing that, any chance of your DH getting hold of some liquid N :)
