Well I had my first day back at work following a two week holiday (found out at start of holiday).

Worried I may have to tell them early.

Not only was I dog tired by 3pm, but there was talk of sending me up in a sodding micro lite and of doing an extreme-sports-swing-suspended-from-a-bridge-over-a-river-gorge thing!

CL1982 · 28/08/2017 17:42

@FairfaxAikman OMG. Telling them might be a good idea 😵 you do sound like have a great job though! DH went up in a microlight though. Looked like a moped with wings. Not my cuppa!

@blueobsessive Ah great! I think the John Radcliffe is one of those! I'll do some digging....

It's not always like that CL

mummyGof2boys · 28/08/2017 18:05

Hey ladies, how is everyone?

@FairfaxAikman that sounds mental. May be a good idea to spill the beans and stay at the office 😂😂

@CL1982 very few hospitals do it up here and costs a bomb to sort out. I wanted to donate a part of the umbilical cord for stem cells and can't.

CL1982 · 28/08/2017 23:34

@FairfaxAikman I can imagine that is the case 😂

How was everybody's bank holiday? The sea life centre was good the little man was amazed by Blackpool tower he thought it was a rocket lol 😂 hope everyone's feeling ok aswell

SS81C · 29/08/2017 07:39

Its a shame isnt it @cl1982. I think part of the issue is that its still very much still a developing area and it's expensive to collect and store. I expect over the coming decades it will become more common place.
Speak to your community midwife or obstetric doctor as she may be able to give you information.
I trained at the JR - loved it there. Its a fab hospital.

I'm shattered from being at work all weekend, irritatingly the DH organised the piano man to come and fix our piano at 8am (sorry neighbours) forgetting that he was working until midnight so I've got to get up and typically the toddler is having an epic lie in.

Reached second trimester yesterday! Definitely getting a bump. Especially in the evenings. Haha!

Going to try and rest up today and then head into town tomorrow for shoes and my handbag!!!

blueobsessive · 29/08/2017 11:37

@faifax wow. Sounds amazingly glam - but the timing could have been better. I had to tell one of my clerks so he could liaise with court listing for an appeal, all before we'd even told our parents. Hope the telling goes ok, or they decide that it's not worth the cost for the story.

@Lauralou031986 glad the Blackpool tower met with approval. As a southerner I remember the first time I saw the illuminations was when I was 19. I thought they were awesome and still do.

@SS81C funny how evenings, and seemingly hot weather too, bring out the bump. I hardly have any in the morning, but then by evening it's popping out.

@CL1982 Little brother also trained (clin part of Med degree) at JR and rated it too.

Just had appointment to see the head anaesthetist, but turns out he wasn't there as he is on leave this week. They said that they'd thought of calling me last week when they saw that I'd been booked into see them, but decided against it. That wasn't great. I felt like a really picky person, but he came up with the anaesthetic strategy which worked for the first placental removal (the second, however was horrible and required m to take an extra 2 months off work). Was also really hard being back at the labour ward. I thought I'd got beyond having deja vu, with all the (many) trips to antenatal and epagu (the floor above) but maybe not. Anyway, dating scan at 2 pm and DH is able to come to that, so I'm hanging around hereabouts.

blueobsessive · 29/08/2017 15:15

Baby fine and happy on scan. Legs all over the shop kicking away. Even sucked their thumb. Placenta at the back this time. No obvious source for Friday's bleed. Dates adjusted by 1 day.

nwlondoner · 29/08/2017 15:40

Found out a few days ago. It will be my first and I'll be 5 weeks on Friday x

CL1982 · 29/08/2017 15:56

@blueobsessive That is amazing!!! What a lovely scan :)

It's a lovely feeling watching them on the screen. Is anyone feeling any flutters? Keep willing them to happen but it's my pulse or gas 😂

Welcome @nwlondoner

mummyGof2boys · 29/08/2017 17:45

Awwww @blueobsessive how wonderful. What a lovely little baba.

@CL1982 I am getting flutters and the odd kick. It's so cute. Again like @Lauralou031986 mostly at night.

Welcome @nwlondoner

Lauralou031986 · 29/08/2017 18:03

How many weeks are you now @CL1982 I'm sure they'll start soon for you Smile

FairfaxAikman · 29/08/2017 18:06

I think I may be starting to have mild nausea - but it's more like getting most of the way through my morning Weetabix (or whatever) and not being able to face another bite.

mummyGof2boys · 29/08/2017 18:12

@FairfaxAikman food aversions maybe rather than nausea?

FairfaxAikman · 29/08/2017 18:27

If I was to describe it in my terms, I get halfway through then it gives me the boak

mummyGof2boys · 29/08/2017 18:59

@FairfaxAikman horrible isn't it

CL1982 · 29/08/2017 19:07

@FairfaxAikman That sounds familiar. I literally couldn't stomach a lot of foods. My body just went 'nope'.

@mummyGof2boys 14 weeks :) But I guess it's number 1 and I honestly don't know what I am looking for if I'm honest!!! I have been told 16 weeks onwards is more usual for first timers :)

OP posts:
mummyGof2boys · 29/08/2017 19:29

@CL1982 I'm 14 weeks too. I felt my first at 15 weeks. The flutters are literally like butterfly's. You can tell the difference to wind.

CL1982 · 30/08/2017 13:00

@mummygof2boys The headache has now started in sympathy with you. 24 hours and it hasn't gone away :(
