I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk

If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is great: 024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!scenario

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.

So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Hello. New to this so please be gentle.
I'm currently 30 + 3 and have had all day sickness constantly through my pregnancy (ftm aswell).
I'm on ondansatron and cyclizine but I feel like the past week I've struggled and there not working.
I've tried everything like ginger etc.
I'm constantly exhausted and feel like I can't go and see anyone cause of constantly feeling sick.
Any ideas.

Thank you!

1984FS · 09/08/2017 19:06

Sorry Bean Flowers Thinking of you.

TwoDrifters · 09/08/2017 19:14

Bean I'm so so sorry. Sending virtual hugs. Flowers

Oklahoma · 09/08/2017 19:43

Hi Crown welcome to the dreaded HG club.

You are on a good meds combo already so not much else they can offer there (although what dose are you on? It could maybe be upped?) have you got ranitidine or omeprazole or somesuch to control the acid? That can help with the nausea too.

Other than that it's rest and counting down the days I'm afraid. I won't suggest ginger or foods like tonic water and melon as I'm guessing if you've made it to 30 weeks you've already worked out what you can and can't stomach.

It really really sucks.

Crownandheelshigh · 09/08/2017 19:49

No not had any of the acid control tablets.

I'm on 1 of each 3 times a day but when I was about 20 weeks I got it down to 1 of each 1 a day, but it appears to have come back a lot stronger.

I haven't tried tonic water or melon, so will try those!
Someone suggested orange juice but I have to have everything freezing cold drink wise!

Thank you for welcoming me xx

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/08/2017 19:57

@blueis. Ouch. Yes you will never be the same. I'm just relieved bubs wasn't 9/10lbs

@bean. So so sorry 😢💐💐💐💐 life really is so cruel and bloody unfair

@crown. You are on a good combination of drugs and onwards bound for the pink castle

Some find ranitidine can help

Crownandheelshigh · 09/08/2017 20:16

@blondeshavemorefun

What do u mean by the pink castle?

Oh forgot to say the heartburn isn't good either and I can't stomach gaviscon

Mustang27 · 09/08/2017 20:16

Bean I'm so sorry. This is truly awful and you have had such an awful time of it all this is incredibly cruel, hugs for you and your poor baby. I wish there was some way we didn't have to deal with things like this ever.

Good luck tomorrow Dead, it's good that you are not to worried. My friends baby always measured small and she was perfectly fine and now a monster sized toddler lol.

BlueeSpottyTiger · 09/08/2017 20:23

bean I am so so sorry my love. I hope you have lot's of support. Look after yourself Flowers xx

blue I had an ice pop yesterday.. a orange calypso one.. it was so nice lol.. wasn't sick until 1.5hours after so i would have got some fluids from it 🖒

Had my first mw appointment today at 8+5 and have been classed as high risk as I had p.e at the end of my last pregnancy. My bp today was pretty low.. which will explain the dizziness.
And I have a scan tomorrow to check on baby after i had some cramps and spotting on Friday and sunday... I'm dreading it! Xx

DeadDoorpost · 09/08/2017 20:37

Crown the pink castle is the end of the pregnancy when you've got the baby in your arms (or in my mum's case the incubator to monitor my brothers breathing but there you go)
As for ginger... it doesn't seem to make any dent at all if you have HG from all the stuff I've read on it. I still had someone bring me ginger biscuits last week but I forgave her as she also brought a whole homemade quiche as well, so it totally made up for it.

bluee my blood pressure was measured as low yesterday so it totally explains dizziness. Let's suffer together 😂 good you're getting the baby checked tomorrow. Ill keep my fingers crossed that it goes well for you, there seems to be a lot of bad luck around at the moment

mustang Yeah, I don't mind if he's just a little bit smaller but looking at the chart he just looks way too small. But ive put 3 lbs on this week for the first time in weeeeeeks so that's something. I'm putting it down to BabyDead growing. Because he's been moving non-stop today and I'm aching all over

Crownandheelshigh · 09/08/2017 20:40

@deaddoorpost

Ah thank you. I can't wait for him to be here now!
Been in and out of hospital with him so hopefully the next time I go in it will be to have him!

@bean I'm so sorry to hear that

Oklahoma · 09/08/2017 20:42

Crown I find tonic water cuts through the nausea as does apple juice heavily diluted with water. Very cold fruit is good too (melon, apple, grapes) ice lollies, basically anything very cold. I can't bear carbs or sugar but other people swear by flat coke, milkshakes and bland carbs. Lucinda has quite a good list of things that can help. As for the pink castle it's from a snakes and ladders game Lucinda used to play, where the winner is the first to get to the pink castle and given how much HG is one step forward and two steps back surviving HG and having a baby is described as reaching the pink castle. Lastly ranitidine : omeprazole prevent excess acid being produced by the body so it helps with both heartburn and nausea. I would definitely try and get some of one or the other they are a real help.

Lemondrop99 · 09/08/2017 21:08

Crown, I'm 32 weeks and have been feeling awful lately. Oklahoma raises a really good point about reflux which can really contribute to the sickness. Definitely worth talking to your GP about Omaprazole, it's been very effective.

P.s. Ginger is a swear word around here Wink

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/08/2017 22:03

@crown. Hg is like a game of snake and ladders. You feel ok then bad day and slide down the snake. Have a good day and up ladder.

Eventually get to the castle in the clouds - pic in opening post that I found for Lucinda

LucindaE · 09/08/2017 22:07

Mother Hen flaps back in. Thank you so much, lovely Blondes and also, TwoDrifters for helping too. I've been thinking of you all.
beanhunter I am so sorry. That is horrible for you. I had an mc, as others have on here, and it is so upsetting. It is grim you are still suffering. I hope that stops soon. All you want to do now is mourn, but when you do feel like trying again, remember that the chances are overwhelmingly on your side all will go well next time.
Bluesyou You look lovely, I so agree with others. I hope you had a wonderful day.
Welcome to all the new people. Great explanation from Oklahoma on the Pink Castle. Oklahoma A lot of people have been on Ondansetron until the end. What does your GP say? Often, it isn't judged worth being very ill and dehydrated again, even though in an ideal world women would all takethemselves off it if they could.
Crownand others. Some of the liquids others have found helpful; flat full sugar coke, ice cubes, ice lollies, Elderflower water, soda water, Lucozade, sips of chocolate milkshake - maybe soya, Dr Pepper, jelly, slices of melon, fizzy orange, orange juice, cocoanut milk, soda water, and for foods, cuppa soup, nibbles of crisps and cheap ice cream.

Crown and others - and I forgot the juice and fruit of tinned fruit!

Melleebacca · 09/08/2017 23:14

Welcome back Lucinda!

Bean - my heart aches for you. Thinking of you in this tough time

Crown - some people get a 3rd trimester surge of HG. Up your meds and see if that helps take the edge off. I'm 38w and will start taking my meds again if I get 2 consecutive days of vomiting.

Deaddoor - I measure very small on fundal height, and then on ultrasounds baby measures large. DD came a day early at 7lb9, but we were expecting an 8lb. Midwife has just measured by fundal height today as 31weeks, and if baby hasn't arrived by next Friday, I will have another ultrasound. My money is on baby being bigger than DD tho. Try not to worry.

Vomiting on Tuesday appears to have just been me exceeding my stomach capacity. Have decreased the size of my breakfast in an attempt to keep vomiting at bay.

LightTripper · 09/08/2017 23:38

Hello everyone, just popping in to see how everyone is doing. DS is 5 months old now and my pregnancy seems like a (happily) distant memory! Glad to see some names that were right at the bottom of the due date list when I was on now at the top.

I'm so sorry to see your news bean. I had a similar experience and it is bloody awful. Those days of still being sick after I knew my pregnancy had ended were very hard. As Lucinda says, you've been very unlucky and there's no reason to think it would happen again (both my sister and I went on to have successful pregnancies after MMC) but I know that won't be a lot of comfort right now. Thinking of you xx

Blondeshavemorefun · 10/08/2017 04:32

Glad to be of service @lucinda - ask anytime

@light. I know. It's amzing to think /know we have 4/5mth babies and agree nice to see names that were bottom/middle of lost gaining very near access to the pink fluffy castle of no sick

It's an amazing feeling to hold baby in arms and not feel nauseous or be sick. For most including me once dd was born all hg symptoms went away

BlueIsYou · 10/08/2017 07:30

Well, today ladies I have an interview with a hospital much closer to my new home and wouldn't have to spend £400 every month going into London fares and commuting with a great struggle/sick bags

It's quite cheeky of me to even go for it as I'm 26 weeks, but I think I have to do what's best for me, DH and baby Blue.

Fingers crossed I get the job Star

I'm still thinking of you bean Flowers

Oklahoma · 10/08/2017 08:48

Lucinda my doctor is fine with me taking them until the end and based on last time I am expecting to be sick throughout the pregnancy so very much doubt I'll be able to come off them. I was just curious what proportion of women actually need/take them until the end.

beanhunter · 10/08/2017 09:08

Thank you. The problem is that chances aren't on my side. It's taken 3 years, 2 failed ivf and now 2 mc to get here. The chance of me being here again is tiny. And now can't even trust my body and symptoms as I'm still being as sick as ever.

Mustang27 · 10/08/2017 09:29

Oh bean there is nothing I can say to that post. I'm sat here sobbing for you what a desperately sad place to be. It's tiny but not impossible not that that will make you feel any better. Do you have good support irl?

Lemondrop99 · 10/08/2017 09:38

bean my heart is breaking for you 😢 I'd do anything to be able to make it all better. I'm sorry that I can't. But we're all here for you if we can support you in any way x

TwoDrifters · 10/08/2017 10:37

bean There are no words. I'm so so sorry.
