I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk

If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is great: 024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!scenario

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.

So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Blue I hope you're feeling better by Saturday it's still four days away. One day at a time!

almostmumto3 · 01/08/2017 18:38

Oh no blue, how many weeks are you? & when is your wedding?

Thanks ladies, I was hating him for it last night lol. They have no idea what we go through. If he was sick even once he would be in bed for a week complaining 🙄

pippanippa · 01/08/2017 19:45

Oh Blue sorry to hear that, how are things going in hospital? I hope baby stays put just that little bit longer for you all! Am just at the 24 weeks mark now myself and can't imagine going through the stress you are.

Hope you're feeling a little better deaddoor, and yay to being near 40 weeks Haich hope you are not waiting too long now.

DeadDoorpost · 01/08/2017 22:15

Mustang Thanks for the suggestions, but I can't stand either of those. I'm able to keep yoghurts down which is good though so some calcium there.

Blue I've got my fingers crossed for you. Hopefully everything will be alright, even if the baby ends up coming early. Like someone's said before, 24 weeks and above is viable and you've still got a good chance they'll survive. It won't be ideal, but it'll be better than the alternative. Flowers

BlueIsYou · 02/08/2017 09:28

Hi all, my Wedding is Saturday and I'm 25 weeks on Friday.

It's just all so scary. I'm dilated, hopefully a stitch will work across the cervix for now.

Please Baby Blue, just a few more weeks Sad

Mustang27 · 02/08/2017 09:33

Oh blue I was just coming on to see how things are going. Bodies do the strangest things and let you down at the worst moments. I'm hoping that does the trick and baby blue stays put. You are in for trouble with this little ones impatience I feel!!!

Just a quick question is anyone take buscopan? I am coeliac and have terrible ibs I'm suffering at the moment as Iv not been adhering to my normally pretty strict diet rules so I'm totally to blame.

weasledee · 02/08/2017 10:13

Hi blue, just popped back on this thread to see how you were doing....
Hope that little one hangs in there...
Are you still in hospital? Either way, feet up!

satsoooma · 02/08/2017 13:05

Thinking of you and your baby blue. Hope he stays put a while longer. x

satsoooma · 02/08/2017 13:08

I just got a call from my GP to say that my blood tests show I am anaemic. Sounds like it is an easy fix with iron tablets, but the side effects are: nausea, vomiting and constipation Hmm

I am really just hovering on an acceptable amount of vomiting (few times a week, can manage going to work again) and constipation (haemorrhoids seem to be clearing up). I am in a massive sulk about this.

Natsku · 02/08/2017 13:22

I'm anaemic and was prescribed liquid iron but decided I prefer less vomiting so don't take it anymore. I can eat more when I'm not taking it so more chance of getting iron in my diet, especially now I can eat meat again (somewhat) and my midwife agreed it's better that I can eat than take the iron.

satsoooma · 02/08/2017 13:33

Interesting way of looking at it natsku. I reckon I could keep the iron down if I went back on a full course of ondansetron, but the constipation is just awful.

Anatidae · 02/08/2017 14:28

Fingers crossed for you blue

Natsku · 02/08/2017 14:42

Did you get told your exact blood level? If its borderline I'd reckon its not worth the constipation.

satsoooma · 02/08/2017 15:15

No I didn't ask natsku. I have an appointment with my GP next week to review all my meds, as I feel they are getting a bit out of control. I'm taking multiple drugs for sickness, heartburn, constipation and now anaemia. It pretty much all stems from just trying not to throw up and I am beginning to wonder if it is worth it.

I guess I'll try the iron pills for a week and then discuss the whole mess with my GP.

Natsku · 02/08/2017 15:40

Good idea.

I'm far too nosy not to ask the precise levels, usually ask for a print off of all test results but now the laboratory texts me the results as soon as they're ready Grin

Daffodil397 · 02/08/2017 16:23

Hello everyone.
Hi blondes wow you have an 18 week old lol already! It's so nice to hear from someone already in the pink castle lol! Glad you are both doing really well and your puking days are well and truly over (unless you are mad enough to do this again like, we, me!)
Sorry was so quiet last few days. Pushed myself to do some stuff with dh and dd and dsd, was knackering but so nice to hang out as a family, totally worth it! Also I got totally taken up in that garden stealing neighbour saga over the weekend that was all over mumsnet, anyone else!! Lol, got a bit overinvested and started dreaming about it, dh laughing at me- now have pulled myself together!
haith bless you. Wave from a fellow lady ready to drop! Hope the days and nights are as comfortable as possible and baby comes soon.
blue thoughts and prayers with you. You've got a lot going on. Keep us updated Flowers
Hello to everyone else and hope you have a settled day if possible.
I'm 39 weeks tomorrow, have a feeling baby is settled in and not in a hurry to come out but I could be wrong! Already have dad and step mum individually phoning me to find out if anythings happened- no I would tell you if it had!! Bless Smile

Daffodil397 · 02/08/2017 16:24

That should have read lo- ( little one), not lol- sorry blondes hope you got the gist!

Blondeshavemorefun · 02/08/2017 17:20

@blue hope stitch works. Yes 25w is v early and hope baby blue stays put for longer

@satsoooomer I had to have iron tablets tho once baby blondes was born - yes the constipation wasn't great and had lactulose to help. Tablets make the poo black. Be warned !!!!

@daffodil. No i Would never do this again - hg was horrendous for me and as you may R.E.M. I only survived due to sleeping /resting 7/2 - no way I could do it again and look after a toddler ....

💐💐💐💐💐 to anyone who is in on 2/3/4 child

And yes 18w. Bloody amazing

Hope baby daf appears soon xx

BlueIsYou · 02/08/2017 20:00

Hi all, back home now and feeling much better Flowers Roll on Saturday!

Heartburn is not nice mixed with HG sickness. It's so acidic, and yet swallowing the Gaviscon makes me throw up 🤢

Not to mention the heartburn itself gives me a saliva increase and for some reason makes me vomit...

I just want this pregnancy to end now (successfully)

beanhunter · 02/08/2017 20:02

Glad your home blue.
I've had a really mixed few days. Drinking better but tolerating even less food. Still at least that means I don't need fluids at the moment.

Melleebacca · 02/08/2017 20:14

Satsoooma - I've done iron pills, liquid iron and I've just been told I'm still anaemic so need iron injections now. Had them with DD too, but as soon as I give birth and can eat red meat again my iron levels shoot up. Within 7 days last time my iron levels were back in the normal zone. I'm not concerned, and I'm pretty much only borderline so I'd rather not be constipated.

Blue - hope the stitch holds. Can't believe they didn't put one in earlier. Everyone I've known gets a stitch at 12-16w if the cervix is incompetent.

Daffodil - had a meltdown yesterday as I'm pretty sure baby is way too comfortable in there and I'm so over this torture. Bring on the next few weeks.

Haich - hope you're surviving and the getting ready for the big move is going well.

37w here, almost constant Braxton hicks, achy hips and mild nausea after every meal. Hubby is back from overseas in 48hrs, and then I get to go for my pregnancy massage. I've got a lot of people wanting to visit and inviting me to events at the moment, and I just want to wallow at home until I give birth.

BlueIsYou · 02/08/2017 20:46

Mellee everything was fine before recently Sad

BlueeSpottyTiger · 02/08/2017 21:03

Blue i really hope the stich helps xx

I've created a post which daffodil has kindly replied to... but think I'll mention it here. As I know it's likely someone would have experienced this at some point.
I'm on week 2 of being off sick for vomiting and nausea -self certified the 1st week & dr has signed me off for 2 weeks until the 14th. I'm only 7+5 atm... and considering last pregnancy i was sick until like 8 months ish i have a feeling I'll be in this for the long haul.
My manager has now referred me to occupational health.
Has this happened to anyone? And if so what happened.
My friend who is also a manager at the same company has advised OH can overturn a sicknote but she is insure if it's pregnancy related... I cannot physically work right now.. what do they expect to happen.

BlueIsYou · 02/08/2017 22:27

Bluee Ahh, you've come to the right place. My manager is a dick (not saying yours is), so I'm well armed with pregnancy rights knowledge etc Grin

Please make sure your sick note says the issue is pregnancy related. It really does need to otherwise it isn't obvious it's pregnancy related and can cause a whole host of issues/open up a can of worms.

I doubt they'll even try overruling a sick note which mentions pregnancy. Very risky for them indeed - I doubt it'll come to that.

If you're too ill to see occupational health, you simply can't attend and they have to postpone until you can. Nothing they can do.

You're well within your rights but just make sure whatever you have in writing makes it clear it's about pregnancy Flowers

Lemondrop99 · 02/08/2017 22:54

Just dropping by quickly.

Not long for Haitch, Daffofil and Mellee! Exciting.

Blue, I really hope the stitch works. Try and get some Omaprazole from your GP for your heartburn. Very effective. Acid definitely contributes to my nausea and vomiting
