How to maintain lady garden during pregnancy

When you can't see down there to trim or shave and it's bloody awkward reaching around the belly even with a mirror to help?

Dd1 had to be handed a machete on the way out to hack her way through the jungle. I'd like to avoid that with dc2.

I'm thinking waxing but don't you need to trim beforehand?

🎶Let it grow, let it grow, you can't hold it back anymore🎶

Familyof3or4 · 18/07/2017 22:15

If I'm going away when pregnant dh will trim but otherwise I let it be

Familyof3or4 · 18/07/2017 22:15

As in, going away on a bikini holiday

SheSaidHeSaid · 18/07/2017 22:30

When I worked as a beauty therapist I had loads of pregnant women come in for waxing as they could just lie there and have it sorted for them. I'll continue waxing my own until I can't, then I'll just go to a salon for a tidy up every so often.

SheSaidHeSaid · 18/07/2017 22:32

Forgot to mention that I was happy to trim a little for women who couldn't reach. Alternatively just get an electric lady razor thing that can trim the hairs beforehand.

mammabear4 · 18/07/2017 22:37

I am loving this thread - just had a conversation earlier today about the full on 70s bush I am currently sporting.

Oyster I laughed out loud at your post 😂

My plan is to leave it all wild and free until last minute when I'll recruit my ever-so-lucky DH to help give it a good trim. Then I'll go for a wax!

RubaDubMum89 · 18/07/2017 22:43

I can't lie, I let the bush develop from about 5 months in. Out of sight out of mind haha. DD avoided the machete situation though. She saw the bush looming and stayed out until they dragged her out with the forceps. At the time I wasn't entirely sure if she had in fact got loads of hair or if some of the bush had come free and stuck to her head on the way out! Gas and air does some crazy things to your thought processes.... Grin

Oyster Grin Grin

I don't maintain my lady garden at the best of times, beyond a bikini wax for the summer, waxing is so much more painful in pregnancy though that I'm not even doing that. DH is shaving my legs for me at the moment, and although he's very deft with it, no way is he coming at my vulva with a razor.

"How to maintain lady garden during pregnancy"

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Seriously, I haven't seen it for months. Legs are not going to move into any kind of position to be of use. And I'm not letting DP near there with anything ever again, let alone a razor. And stubble and itching and regrowth? No thanks. I prefer to pretend if I can't see it no one else can either.

Hats off to you if you have the energy and inclination to do anything about it though.

Strokethefurrywall · 18/07/2017 22:57

I just shaved blind, I had to. I live in the tropics and spent the entire second half of my pregnancy in the sea or our pool and in a bikini.

Thankfully I've been maintaining a total blank down there for ages, so just kept haphazardly swishing the razor back and forth in the hope it was keeping everything in check Grin

MotherofKitties · 18/07/2017 23:00

Had one wax during pregnancy so far (38 weeks) as can't see what I'm doing or reach that well now! Shaved as normal before that, but be warned, regrowth is a lot more painful when pregnant, something I didn't fully appreciate! Blush

ScotsLamb · 19/07/2017 00:27

I've had one bikini wax which I found less painful than usual (I was 14 weeks).
I'm going to get a Hollywood on Friday. I've been getting them for about 5 years so I should be able to compare the pain levels quite well. I do have my fingers crossed it's not excruciating as I really can't cope with shaving there.

5OBalesofHay · 19/07/2017 00:32

What's wrong with pubic hair?

wobblywonderwoman · 19/07/2017 00:34

I used to use veet but it was tricky

Meowstro · 19/07/2017 04:22

I've used hair removal cream. I'd advise against it nearer to the end though - for the first time ever, later that day I went for a wee and it stung like nothing ever before. Hate to think what childbirth would be like later that day 🙈

Blind shaving next time for me as it's close now.

GingerHanna · 19/07/2017 05:52

BalesofHay This isn't about whether pubic hair is rights or wrong, it's about an individuals preference and how to maintain that.

I'm 23 weeks and managed to trim last weekend with the beard trimmer I appropriated from DH a couple of years back. No idea how that's going to work in a few months time but we will see.

Might go for a bikini wax later on as expect to want to swim in later pregnancy and could do without the extra decoration at the edges of my bikini!

Sparklyuggs · 19/07/2017 05:54

I've waxed for years and did so all through pregnancy, albeit with less frequency as my hair growth slowed. Had my final one at 38 weeks before my ELCS at 38+6. I don't see it as any different to getting my eyebrows and upper lip threaded.

ChickenChica · 19/07/2017 05:55

I had a total wax.

PinkyPudding · 19/07/2017 06:17

My DH tidied my area using his electric shaver. Blush

Kittysparks1 · 19/07/2017 08:18

Ah I will be asking my partner to epilate my legs tonight he has already cut and painted my toe nails and washes my feet in the shower each evening. As for the vag I blindly hacked away at it with a razor a couple days ago but the hair is too much for a razor to compete with so planning to squat over a mirror and use my lady shaver for a slight trim. Give me a nice chance to say good bye to the vagina I've always know.

Blind swish with an electric trimmer here not hugely different from pre-preg.

Jessiecat27 · 19/07/2017 16:03

Rubadub hahah that's hilarious!

salsasalsa · 19/07/2017 16:17

I don't know how you tag people, but kittysparks1, that 'gives me a chance to say goodbye to the vagina I've always known' has got me in stitches at work!!!
I'm lucky my sister is a beauty therapist and has offered to wax bikini! Will maintain rest as best I can with trimmer! Lol, good post OP
