Hi,

I just found out I'm pregnant with our first DC at lunchtime today.

Obviously very early days and anything could happen but thought it would be nice to have a little group who are due around the same month to share experiences and hand hold if needed.

Anyone around who is due in March?

I'm starting to get very impatient now. My scan is in 19 days when I'll be 12+4 and I'm actually considering another private scan beforehand. I just keep wanting to know everything is ok and I'm dying to tell people now 😂. How are you all coping with the waiting?

Elspeth24 · 16/08/2017 16:20

@loverainbow i actually love having it as a secret! My hubby wants to tell everyone but I like it as our little secret for now. The lying and cover-ups to conceal not drinking / doing my HIIT training / not drinking tea in the office etc are starting to get a bit exhausting though. That will be a relief to stop!

DaddysGirl36 · 16/08/2017 17:01

Hey all, so many posts to catch up on. Glad everyone is well.

@loverainbow - I'm mega impatient too and am hoping I get my 12 week scan at 11 weeks instead (I did last time) so I can tell the rest of my family and close friends. It's hard keeping a secret so big. I'm just avoiding people at the minute, which is not very easy.

Nausea still an issue, waiting for my wrist bands. Still worst at night time too which is odd.

LoveRainbow02 · 16/08/2017 17:17

@Elspeth24 I wish I was more like you. I had told family I was pregnant before my test had even dried 😂. So impatient!

@DaddysGirl36 Nausea is horrible isn't it. The past week I've noticed I start to feel really sick around dinner time and I have to force myself to eat something and slowly coz i know my sickness will eventually go away. Not good 😕

Bumpkin21 · 16/08/2017 21:06

Wow, I was away for a couple of days and so much to catch up on!

I've told my best girl friends, as I couldn't hide not sharing the bubbly at one of their engagement drinks! (And I wanted to tell them!) Not telling parents until 12 weeks, as if we lost it, I'd feel like supporting my mum not the other way round - she so wants grand kids!

Keeping it hidden at a family wedding at the weekend was a pain though, and I've now got to think of a non drinking excuse for the in-laws at dinner on Saturday... can't wait for the sneaking around to be over!

DaddysGirl36 · 16/08/2017 22:05

@loverainbow - A previous miscarriage has made us super cautious. It's not that we wouldn't tell the same people again including our parents, we just don't want them worrying and being anxious the whole 12 weeks like we are (although this has been massively reduced with the early scans).

@bumpkin - For your meal, you're super hungover from the night before? Feeling poorly in general? Or could you have one glass of wine that you just nurse the whole time and get rid if you can (although one glass won't hurt you)

LoveRainbow02 · 16/08/2017 22:08

@DaddysGirl36 I am feeling the same this pregnancy. I had a previous loss in February. I wanted to tell the family early again that way they could support me either way. Just can't wait until I'm passed 12 weeks and can relax a little.

Elspeth24 · 17/08/2017 09:25

Omg girls, had the worst night last night. From 1am-6am I was violently sick every 30mins. It was just bile in the end so disgusting. Absolutely shattered today, I had to call in sick. Too scared to even drink anything now in case it all kicks off again.

Seeing as ive only had nausea so far it was a shock to be so violently ill for so long last night (also pre-pregnancy Ive probably only been sick 5 times in my adult life!) I'm worried it wasn't pregnancy related, it might be food poisoning or a virus? Is that more dangerous to my babies? Bit concerned by it....

Lynsey thats good you got a hold of your midwife, hopefully wont be too much longer until you get your scan date. I think we will just constantly worry during our pregnancies until we give birth I know I will lol

Fran I bet your family was so shocked when you told them twins! my scan is 2 weeks today !! ill be 13 weeks and 4 days then. Wishing it was sooner I could burst with excitment waiting on it! but thinking the later it is maybe the pictures will be clearer. The other day I was thinking I wonder if all the nausea and vomitting is because theres more than one Shock will find out in 2 weeks Grin

LoveRainbow im desperate to tell people! our parents and a few of my work colleagues know but friends and rest of family dont. due to nausea and vomitting im off work sick and basically barricaded myself in the house so when friends and family are asking me todo stuff I have to lie and say im working or busy Blush they will all know why i have been rubbish and anti social in 2 weeks time.

Daddysgirl I had a week where the whole night i felt nauseated but thankfully its gone back to being just during the day now hopefully it passes for you soon and you will get a goodnights sleep

Bumpkin Dont know how easy this will be but i know a wedding i was at i would have orange juice and say it was a vodka orange or lemonade and say its gin and lemonade might not be that easy to lie if your in a house though. could pretend you have a UTI and on antibiotics ? say you need to drive for something? hope any of these excuses help Grin

Elspeth wow thats amazing that the twin news just came completely out of the blue! oh no, hope your feeling ok now. maybe give the midwifes a call just to be on the safe side and explain your worried due to how frequent and sudden it was incase its a bug or food poisoning etc. at least they will help put your mind at ease. maybe try and ice lolly or something to test the waters to see if you keep that down.

made a gp appointment this morning because Iv been a bit worried about the ongoing nausea and vomitting and past 2 days I was miserable with it. ITs definately getting better though so i feel as if im doing this a bit too late but the DR was absolutely lovely and really reassuraning. Took my bloods, tested my urine for ketones ( none found) encouraged me to drink 2 litres a day ( I have only just started to manage up to about 1 litre) and try 6 to 8 small high calorie meals a day.

LynseyLou1982 · 17/08/2017 11:39

@KittyKat73
I think I'll relax a bit once I get the scan and the combined test out of the way. If I don't hear anything by Tuesday I'll be on the phone again. If I miss the cut off to get the combined test done on the NHS I'll go private. I don't want to and it's not cheap but I'd rather just know either way. I was sobbing to my OH about it last night.

Mummies2be · 17/08/2017 13:35

Congratulations everyone. My partner and I are almost 10 weeks pregnant and we are due on the 17th March. We are luckily enough to have already had 2 scans as we underwent fertility treatment. Every time we've had a scan it's a relief but I keep wanting to have more just to make sure everything is okay. Can't wait to be able to tell everyone and waiting for the 12 weeks can is hard! Being in a same sex relationship, it was never a given that we would be lucky enough to be parents and I'm trying to contain my excitement until we know things are a bit more safe after the 12 week scan. I can't wait to find out what we are having and start buying things.

BlueeSpottyTiger · 17/08/2017 13:47

Mummies I'm due the 17th too! Congrats 🤗
Elspeth aww poor you Sad i was really I'll randomly the other night.. with D&V (alot more V then my usual HG) it lasted a good few hours.. so i dno whether it was food poisoning or not. How are you now?
kitty sorry your so unwell too, but it's good you had no ketones. Hope you feel better soon

Xx

Anyone got any recommendations for sort of maternity ball gowns? I will be roughly 20 weeks and we have a big awards ceremony at the o2 arena and I need a posh frock!

Rider -- at the 8wk midwife appt they ask:

  • Your medical history and family history as far back as grandparents
  • Which hospital you might want to give birth in, or at home / birthing pool
  • Your mental and emotional state
  • Previous pregnancies/births

They give you:

  • Your big blue folder, which contains important info and emergency phone numbers, and contains your notes. It gets taken with you to every appt and with you to hosp to give birth
  • A pack of bumph, magazines and vouchers for Emma's Diary etc
  • They'll work out your EDD based on 1st day of last period. And they give you info about which foods you shouldn't eat, exercise/being healthy in pregnancy, and they take a blood and wee sample for various early stage tests. Think that's it Smile
BlueeSpottyTiger · 18/08/2017 06:09

Elspeth Nope it's all secret.. i joined a group when i was pg with my dd and ended up making really good friends with a small group of 6 of us who we meet up with rl. We chat pretty much all day everyday in a whatapp group too.. I love them xx
