Hi,

I just found out I'm pregnant with our first DC at lunchtime today.

Obviously very early days and anything could happen but thought it would be nice to have a little group who are due around the same month to share experiences and hand hold if needed.

Anyone around who is due in March?

I'm having the harmony test next Sunday at ultrasound direct. It's £399 I think.

coastalchick · 12/08/2017 08:45

I live offshore so we don't have NHS and looking online we don't seem to have that facility here (though will ask midwife when see her next week) so we would have to have it done when in london I think.

There's so much worry hey for all of us. Not sure if it's worse cos am older. Was worried wouldn't conceive yet happened first try, worried all the time re miscarrying now worried it has something wrong with it. I guess it's getting us used to that lifetime of worry!!!

LoveRainbow02 · 12/08/2017 08:53

I'm having a blood test along with my 12 weeks scan to test for downs and I think they also measure the fluid at the back of baby's neck and then give you a risk factor percentage.

Got my free private scan this morning and I'm so nervous. This will be my 3rd scan so far and i seen the heartbeat 11 days ago but I can't help but worry 😕. I'm 9+1 today.

LynseyLou1982 · 12/08/2017 08:58

Coastalchick I'm planning to have the NHS testing done but they have to do it before 14 weeks. I'm still waiting for my scan appointment so worrying I won't get it in time. Going to get my midwife to chase it if I haven't had anything by middle of next week. If I miss the NHS ones the private clinic I went to for my early scan does it for £120.

Leanne6539 · 12/08/2017 09:28

Coastalchick I am 36 will be 37 when my baby is due and I agree you worry so much more being a bit older given that all the bumpf you read puts the shits up anyone over 35 trying to conceive!! I did read an article yesterday saying that baby's are very robust and our grandparents and the like didn't have all these donts and we turned out fine! Try and relax Smile

coastalchick · 12/08/2017 09:47

Thanks ladies, and I am sure we are all worrying over nothing. Was talking to OH this am about my shocking diet and he said his mum (who knows about bump) had said that in their day they didn't have all this info yet were fine. I do think the internet can be both a blessing and a curse! That said, I am glad for these boards, esp at this early stage when you don't want to tell many people!

DaddysGirl36 · 12/08/2017 10:55

Sounds like we are all crazy worried during this first trimester, which is a shame as we should be embracing it and be excited. There's always something to worry about ey?

@zedahmed123 - What are the specialists saying to you? Is there any alternative if there is no baby anywhere? When was your last period? Is it possible you have had a chemical pregnancy which is when you get a positive test but then a period so you may have some of the symptoms but sadly the pregnancy has been lost? Sounds very confusing, I would be demanding more answers. Hope you are okay.

I have a confession....its nearly 1pm and I'm still in bed. And it feels amazing! I've cancelled my plans for today, hubby is out and I'm just doing some reading and snacking on Japanese rice crackers and sparkling water. Being horizontal is so nice and almost nausea-free!

I just couldn't face another day of pretending to be normal, it has exhausted me at work this week trying to keep sickness under wraps and not give the game away. So today decided to have some me time (well, with the two embryos of course!) and relax and not have to pretend anything to anyone. Hurrah!!

LoveRainbow02 · 12/08/2017 12:57

Had my scan this morning and all is well 😊. I am so relieved. 3 more weeks and I have my 12 week scan. Can't wait!

awwww lovely @loverainbow02!!!

Is everyone else bawling at the smallest thing? Just bawled at end of season 3 of Homeland now watching last twilight film and doing the same.

Just want March to hurry up and my little baby to be here so I can hold them tight - such a wreck

issy2165 · 12/08/2017 15:48

I'm embracing mother hood and I've just had all my hair cut off into a long bob omg I look old now! Feel so much lighter and happier! I'm donating it to the princess trust :)

DaddysGirl36 · 12/08/2017 19:54

Glad your scan went well @LoveRainbow

I'm nausea free today, which is great but I'm tired from being out all day and I am now picking up my OH from a night out later. Hope I can stay awake!

DaddysGirl36 · 12/08/2017 22:47

Spoke too soon. Nausea has arrived. Been for a meal tonight and since I got home I've had a big bar of chocolate, some quavers and now have toast on the go

coastalchick · 13/08/2017 06:22

We have early scan at 10am. How I'm gonna hold water in I do not know! Hoping everything is ok. My nana (god rest her soul) once told me the doctor said I had a heart like a lion. Hoping baby is same. But my nana did have a tendency towards bullshit!!! (In a nice way obvs!)

coastalchick · 13/08/2017 06:23

Hope your nausea passed daddy's x

cometogether · 13/08/2017 09:07

Daddysgirl perfect pregnancy snack!

Good luck today coastal.

I've booked harmony for the end of August so will let you know how it goes..

BlueeSpottyTiger · 13/08/2017 09:25

Coastal goodluck 💖🍀
Issy oh wow! That's very brave of you.
And nice of course!
Love Aww glad everything was well

Xx

Elspeth24 · 13/08/2017 09:41

Good luck @coastal sure it will be fab! Share your scan pics if you want to, I love seeing them!

@Issy that's amazing thing to do for charity, you have (had!) such beautiful hair too! Do we need to have short hair to embrace Motherhood then?! Mine has always been long... Although I could give it a go as long hair has always made me feel sexy but I actually don't feel I need to be like that now I'm pregnant (with twins I'm gonna be huuuuuuge I know it Hmm)

TidmanK · 13/08/2017 10:29

My lower back feels like I've trapped something and I can't bend over... pregnancy or just bad back? Who knows!

coastalchick · 13/08/2017 10:39

thanks ladies! So, had to have internal probe as have a retroverted womb so couldn't see with the abdominal. Shat myself (not literally!) for a moment as he could see a sac when he tried abdominally but no baby so was on verge of tears but he said that was normal when womb retro. So he used the probe and saw it! We saw it's little heartbeat!!!! OH almost cried.

They have dated it at 6 weeks and saying due 10 April but I just don't think that's right having tracked ovulation etc as if he is right then I'd have got a positive result only 3 days after conception which just can't be right. Hoping it's just a small baby (i was only 5 lbs 10 oz). Will post pic in a mo

Awww baby!!! Yay! Congrats that's fab news!.. the probe is no where near as bad as what you imagine is it! Plus they only insert it like 2" 🖒
It says your due date is the 29/3/18????

coastalchick · 13/08/2017 11:23

yep a channel island. Yeah cos that's what I told them I was so think that's why they put it down as that but on bottom it says 6 weeks and he told my partner 10 april using a wheel thingie.

Yeah it was fine actually and he made me put it in myself which helped! They also told me they do harmony test (I asked) so def going to get that done which saves us traipsing round london on my birthday when we're there in sept!

BlueeSpottyTiger · 13/08/2017 11:35

Oh i see.. silly me 🙈
So do you have any more scans now.. how does it all work where you live!?
lynsey aww cute! 😍

I think my scan is pretty clear! I was 8+5 when they did this one internally and i can see arms and legs although it has its back to the camera.. also it looks like it has a football in there? 😂 i reckon this baby will be a girl!
