Hi,

I just found out I'm pregnant with our first DC at lunchtime today.

Obviously very early days and anything could happen but thought it would be nice to have a little group who are due around the same month to share experiences and hand hold if needed.

Anyone around who is due in March?

@WombOfOnesOwn just checking you're not actually eating sashimi! X

SophSoph92 · 04/08/2017 19:28

@Bumpkin21 yeah I'm with you on that! Slow and steady wins the race :)

WombOfOnesOwn · 04/08/2017 20:21

I ate sashimi all through last pregnancy! Women in Japan do it all the time, and have no problems. I was not able to find a recorded instance in the medical literature of sashimi causing any problems with a pregnancy, and I do have the ability to look it up!

Other things I'm perfectly happy to eat while pregnant include blue or runny cheeses -- the only women who have gotten listeria during pregnancy from cheese ingestion are those who have eaten specific forms of homemade cheese (in the US where I live, these women are typically Mexican immigrants, who often make their own cheese from milk! I am nowhere near so ambitious with my culinary forays during pregnancy). Oh, and steak tartare, good god, perfect for iron cravings, I could have one right now.

I've found that every country has its own list of foods women "shouldn't" eat, but there's very, very little overlap. French women are perfectly happy to eat runny cheeses during pregnancy, but won't eat beef below well-done until the baby is out. In Japan, raw fish is considered part of good prenatal nutrition -- full of good vitamins that don't get cooked out! In Australia, they tell women not to eat hummus while pregnant, which I'm sure would make a lot of Middle Eastern pregnant women giggle.

@WombOfOnesOwn woah! Sorry! 😨

Elspeth24 · 04/08/2017 21:17

So scan went well. He dated me 5+2 not 6+2! No idea how that happened.

But he did find two sacks and two yolk sacks. So looks like we are having twins ConfusedConfused I wish someone could have captured our faces!!!!! Still in complete and utter shock! No history of it in our families or anything.

I know there is a chance two babies might not make it and he did say not to get tooooo excited. But still, WOW!

FuzzyOwl · 04/08/2017 21:33

Bumpkin21 and Elspeth24 at this stage the sonograoher is dealing with such a tiny measurement and they do say the most accurate time in your entire pregnancy to date is 12 weeks, so I wouldn't worry.

FuzzyOwl · 04/08/2017 21:34

As you say Elspeth, wow! Identical twins don't run in families and are completely random. I hope it all goes smoothly for you.

issy2165 · 05/08/2017 07:27

When is everyone going to start buying things??

rider1975 · 05/08/2017 08:34

Issy not until a week before due date - don't want to jinx this! Might need to start buying stuff for me as the joggies look is getting a bit tired and I need space around my tummy (mainly for the retained poo). I've seen some ace preg clothes - I'm deffo going close-fitting sexy and will show off bump rather than the traditional tent look

DaddysGirl36 · 05/08/2017 08:52

@Elspeth - Wow. Congratulations. It never crossed my mind at my scan that I may have heard that there was more than one until someone asked 'So are you just having one?'. I was a bit Confused and then I realised what they meant.

@Issy - Not until after about 14 weeks and even then I would prefer to start on a nursery with a place to put things before we start buying. We are going to have to have a big clear out.

What are people's thoughts on finding out what they are having? I have never wanted to but OH wants to and it causes bickering so we've not discussed it yet (bit early anyway though)

issy2165 · 05/08/2017 09:04

We definitely want to find out but not until 20weeks I'm not going to pay to have an early scan to find out :)

ddegville · 05/08/2017 09:23

Need a bit of advice. Had crazy nausea on a morning for the past week and a half. Sometimes lasting in to the day and always a funny feeling when I'm hungry. Yesterday and this morning I've woken up to only slight nausea. I still get the funny/sick feeling when I'm hungry though. Should I be concerned that the sickness has eased slightly? Still got the tiredness, lack of appetite and tender boobs. I'm terrified something has gone wrong. 7 weeks today.

ddegville · 05/08/2017 09:28

@issy2165 - we are sorting out the nursery carpet and painting first. Last week of August. Bit earlier than we wanted but the OH is a mentor for children in a school so during term time he is crazy busy and can't take annual leave so we want to get the decorating done over the summer holidays. We are hoping that family will give money at Christmas instead of gifts and then we can use this to furniture for the nursery.

My Nan called me yesterday and told me she had caved in and brought a pack of vests. She's super excited as this is her first great grandchild.

I recently found out I am expecting my first child. This is my first pregnancy. I am due March 26, 2018. I am approximately 6 weeks and 5 days. Monday is my first OB appt and hopefully we can confirm this timeline with TVUS.

Anyone else due about the same time? What kind of symptoms do you have? Does everyone get the infamous "Morning Sickness"?

rider1975 · 05/08/2017 09:35

ddedgeville I had a total loss of symptoms at around 8 weeks. Had a major stress. They came back within a week but also having a reassurance scan eased my mind

Sweetheartt · 05/08/2017 09:40

coastalchick · 05/08/2017 10:00

@DaddysGirl36 thank you so much for this - so sorry you had a MMC but glad you have been able to conceive again and all seems to be going well. Does reassure me as haven't had anything like that so far. Still got symptoms - dizziness and really really sore boobs (hopefully not too graphic but when I turn over in the night it feels like someone is pulling them off! Had to put a bra on last night!).

@Elspeth24 - amazing news! Wow!!!! If you are having twins are you showing? I'm convinced I'm having twins as my belly is big - obviously nothing to do with all the food I'm eating - ha ha!

We are going to find out sex whenever we can. In some ways would be nice to be a surprise but we think for us it will mean we can plan clothes, decor etc better.

We already have names (which we picked out ages ago before even starting trying) If it's a boy it will be Zachary Christopher, and if it's a girl, Isabella Rose. We had always wanted Megan for a girl but given it looks like Prince Harry about to marry Meghan Markle, we think there will be a whole influx of Megans. We've not even thought about looking at different names as so stuck on those!

Spotting again. I don't think I can cope with this 😞😞😞

SunyBay · 05/08/2017 12:24

@Sweetheartt I'm due the week before you. Not really had much morning sickness yet. I felt a bit queasy in the mornings last week, but other than that, no nausea. I am lightheaded and tired all the time. Also sore breasts occasionally and sore stretching feeling in the stomach. Oh, and I'm always hungry!

My booking appointment is Tuesday. It had just occurred to me that twins are a possibility (there isn't a history of twins in either of our families, but there is always that randomness) which freaks me out! I'm not sure I could cope with two at the same time - lots more stuff is required for two! So I'm hoping I've only got one in the oven. :)

I had always thought that I wouldn't want to know the gender beforehand, but now that I'm actually pregnant, I think we might find out. Simply because I've always imagined having a daughter, and if it is a boy, I'd like some time to get used to it! (We live in rented accommodation, so decor isn't going to be a problem for us, and I'm not really into pink clothing, so if it's a girl, I'd be going for more gender neutral clothes anyway. Also, boys clothes often seem to be cooler! I inherited a lot of my elder cousin's clothes whilst I was growing up, so I wore a lot of boys clothes anyway - guess it's what I'm used to. I've got a little nephew now, so I suspect ours will also have quite a few hand-me-downs. :) )

issy2165 · 05/08/2017 14:38

I literally have no motivation to do anything to day I desperately need to clean the house but have no energy :(

DaddysGirl36 · 05/08/2017 14:38

@soph - Oh no. Hope you are able to rest and relax. As long as it is just spotting, I would have a watch and wait approach. Certainly if you get increased blood or any pain then I would seek medical advice. Sending hugs

Welcome @sweetheartt I am due 23 March. 7+1 today. Symptoms are nausea which kicks in on the afternoons/early evening, increased hunger and getting up for the loo in the night which is totally new to me. Few aches and pains in my back and my boobs occasionally too.

FuzzyOwl · 05/08/2017 14:45

ddegville I know it is worrying but symptoms do come and go. Can you book a reassurance scan if you think that will help?

Sweetheartt I am due at a similar time and have never had morning sickness so not everyone gets it.

Thinking of you Soph

issy I have absolutely no motivation or energy either.

BlueeSpottyTiger · 05/08/2017 14:47

Oh soph :( don't worry doll.. I'm sure everything is fine Xx

I'll start buying things once I've had the gender scan, but only clothes as thats all i need.
As my dd is only 18m i have all the most up to date baby stuff anyway.. I just need a new carseat and isofix base.. breastpump tubes and a few bottles.

I can't wait to decorate the spare room into the nursery but Before I do that I'll decorate dd's room to make it more age appropriate.
But I don't intend to do that until after im 20weeks

Sweetheartt · 05/08/2017 18:06

@sunybay - Yeah the thought of more thrn one is absolutely scary for me. I never considered it before your post and we do have twins in my family. As for me i want a boy but either will be perfectly okay. Healthy is all I truly ask for.

I am glad to know not all you ladies are having morning sickness. My boobs are sore and my insides are all kinds of different. The stretching feeling with the mild cramps is a bitter sweet feeling for me. Painful but exciting. I'm so tired all the time i can barely get through an 8 hour shift at work now.
