Hi,

I just found out I'm pregnant with our first DC at lunchtime today.

Obviously very early days and anything could happen but thought it would be nice to have a little group who are due around the same month to share experiences and hand hold if needed.

Anyone around who is due in March?

I too am exhausted, literally. Walked up 2 flights of stairs yesterday and was literally out of breath! Boobs hurt like hell all the time. Not much morning sickness yet though almost puked yesterday (so guess more nausea). Finding am getting up earlier though.

We cancelled on a night out on sat and apparently (according to my gay best mate who knows I am pregnant), they were all speculating as to whether I was (as we had told them we were trying as they are my really close group). They are all coming to us for a BBQ on Sat and as my mate said yesterday - even if I pretend using the non-alcoholic, they'll know when I'm not drunk (as I get drunk really quickly). He thinks I should just say I'm not drinking as we are trying. Will have a think!!!

Oh, and my OH got a massive tiramisu the other night for us to share but when I looked on the back of packet it listed "alcohol" as one of the ingredients. Had 1 bite and it was mega boozy so decided not to. Does anyone else find it's poo being pregnant for food and drink?! Not only can't you drink (and I am literally craving a glass of wine but won't touch it), but there's loads you can't have!!!!

issy2165 · 01/08/2017 11:23

I'm just eating what I want our grandparents never worried about it! My mum ate cockles by the pound with me and I'm fit and healthy! I think worrying about foods only makes things worse I'm trying to carry on as normal as possible and eat what I can without throwing up😀 although I did want a raw steak for tea the other night but had to cook it and that broke my heart a little bit 😂

BlueeSpottyTiger · 01/08/2017 11:31

My preference for a steak is welldone anyway hehe!
I the only thing in avoiding is cheeses..and drinking alcohol (which i rarely did anyway).
I wouldn't mind eating food with alcohol in,
I had a sherry filled trifle when it was Christmas with dd.. I could'nt have missed out on that!

LynseyLou1982 · 01/08/2017 11:38

I'm trying to be good. Avoiding caffeine, not drinking, not too much bad fish, no cured meats, no soft cheeses ( I really miss the cheese). I've been reading all your comments about sickness and feeling sick. Not sure if I should be pleased or worried that I'm nearly 10 weeks and haven't had any sickness and only one or two days of nausea and then it didn't last long. I am tired by 2pm though and am eating for Britain.

KittyKat73 · 01/08/2017 12:36

Hey ladies!

I joined this thread weeks ago but haven't been able to come on much. im now 9 weeks pregnant but majorly suffering from nausea/ sickness and exhaustion. Finding that im really struggling with work just now. (nurse working 12.5 hour shifts 3 days a week)

I have my first appointment with midwife this Sunday I think its the one they do all the family history take blood etc. Looking forward to it as its making it all seem a bit more real but cant wait for my first scan to confirm it all that its definately happening :}

Coastal I know what you mean about cancelling nights out I have became a total hermit crab! just no energy to go out at all and when I do im totally exhausted. I have basically taken to hiding from all friends until after the first scan so we dont need to tell them haha luckily we all have hetic lifes anyway so its not unsual to not see them for weeks at a time.

Bluetiger and lynseylou I didnt realise about cheese I have been having cheddar cheese Hmm will need to get a google list of what Im allowed and not! so many rules for us!

LynseyLou1982 · 01/08/2017 14:15

@KittyKat73 Cheddar is absolutely fine. As is any hard cheese made with pasteurised milk. It's only cheeses like Brie, Camembert (unless they are baked) mould ripened cheeses and blue cheese that you need to stay away from. I know what you mean though I Google everything if I'm not sure. I took a bite of a pepperoni pizza the other night then thought 'Can I even eat pepperoni?' and had to Google it. It's fine :-)

Bettybecks12 · 01/08/2017 14:16

Joining this party a little late - my due date, at the moment, is 5th March and am currently at 9+1. So far so good, had some nausea but that stopped once I stopped taking multi-vit supplements, so it may well have been self-imposed (!!). Still, I get a bit of a funny feeling when I'm hungry - and I don't even have that typical hunger feeling anymore, i just need to eat, asap! Then, same as other ladies, total exhaustion and am totally done in by the time I walk to the tube station. Also, apparently quite common, I cannot sleep properly anymore, I keep lying awake at night and walk around like a zombie all day. I'm a total coffee lover but have gone off it as it doesn't taste right anymore - can't wait to have my first enjoyable cup of coffee again! A friend of mine is due later in the year, she wants her husband to hand her a burger after giving birth, I think I want a proper cafe latte! haha!

LoveRainbow02 · 01/08/2017 15:45

Had a scan this morning at hospital and I'm measuring 7 weeks and saw the little heart beating away nice and strong 😊. So happy!
Also had my midwife appointment that took forever and involved a lot of questions! Now to wait for my 12 week scan 😊

JamdaniSari · 01/08/2017 15:49

@LoveRainbow02 Aww so happy to hear!!!

I'm 5+4 weeks with my first. Unfortunately where I live they don't see you until you're 10 weeks! There's no self referral process either.

What kind of questions did you/are you meant to ask?

LoveRainbow02 · 01/08/2017 15:53

I had an early reassurance scan due to a previous loss.

I didn't ask any questions. I was completely overwhelmed however with all the questions the midwife was asking me. It's a lot to take in and remember.

JamdaniSari · 01/08/2017 15:58

@LoveRainbow02 I see. Glad things are better Smile

It sounds like a big test. I feel as though I'm meant to revise in preparation!

issy2165 · 01/08/2017 16:53

I have my midwife appointment on Thursday! So exited!

TidmanK · 01/08/2017 17:13

@issy2165 Yay!!!

TidmanK · 01/08/2017 17:17

I was supposed to be telling my family on Thursday because my grandmother was going to come down south to see us but she's decided not to come anymore and my mum has stayed in Cheshire with her so all my plans have sunk!
I was really ready to tell them but I really want to tell my mum in person!
I'm feeling pretty blue about it!!

Feeling blue seems to be my week 9 overarching symptom so far... this pregnancy is unplanned and although I'm super excited and happy I cant help but think about the things I wanted to do that I probably won't do now and it's making me a little sad.
I'm almost tempted to pay for a private scan so I can get the excitement again!

DaddysGirl36 · 01/08/2017 18:11

@issy2165 - My nausea comes on much worse in the early evening , which is good for work but is bad for making meals. I have been home about an hour and since my shower, I'm lying on the sofa feeling sorry for myself nibbling ginger biscuits. I feel like I may faint when I stand up. I am thankful I am not actually vomiting though.

Started with a little lower back pain yesterday but I think it's the way I am carrying myself/sitting. I had it really severely at 6w during my last pregnancy which turned into a MMC so I am on high alert for the symptom but I don't think this is the same as it's mild and comes and goes. I have another scan at 8w for further reassurance.

coastalchick · 01/08/2017 19:07

Yeah, I think we probably have a tendency to "over worry" about what we are eating when, like you say, our mothers did fine without all this information back in the day!

Sorry for the ladies feeling exhausted, sick, going off coffee (not happened to me yet but would hate it if I did - drinking decaf though) and yay for the ladies with positive scans!!

I'm 5+5 so still a bit of a way to go before even a private scan. Wish it would hurry up though!!

Also know what you mean @TidmanK - though we had planned it, didn't expect it to happen this quickly and off to Sicily in Sept - won't be able to lol about drinking apperol spritz or red wine and also fancied getting another marathon under my belt. That said (like you I suspect) I wouldn't change it, particularly when I hear about friends who have struggled to conceive for months, years even - count myself v lucky and just hope all is ok with scan when it happens

BlueeSpottyTiger · 01/08/2017 19:39

kitty by cheese i mean mould ripened like chèvre ect. All hard cheese is fine says the nhs website. I actually forgot to avoid chorizo and cured meats.. oops! I eat half a pack the otherday!

Anyone else having a pounding heart?? My heart pounds so hard for a few periods aday even when having a lie down. Very disconcerting! 🤔

BlueeSpottyTiger · 01/08/2017 19:44

Tidmank aww that's a shame you can't tell your family yet! Can you travel to them?
kitty wow your shifts sound tough! I struggle with my 22hours over 4 days 🙈
Welcome betty 👋
rainbow Aww fabulous.. congrats!

Xx

TidmanK · 01/08/2017 21:20

@coastalchick Yeah totally as disappointed as I am that the things I'd planned in my head for the next 5/10 years aren't going to happen, I wouldn't change it for the world! The only reason it's unplanned is because we didn't think my partner could have kids so we're over the moon!

@BlueeSpottyTiger I'm trying to get us all to meet up at the weekend once my mum is back but I'll have to just tell my granny on the phone :(

FuzzyOwl · 01/08/2017 21:56

Fantastic news LoveRainbow.

Hope everyone is doing ok.

issy2165 · 02/08/2017 09:39

God I feel awful today I feel like I've been hit by a bus fluy, sick horrible 😩 working in the pissing rain outside on a farm... only 12 hours left to go 😕 not sure how long I can keep up these 50 hour weeks!

KittyKat73 · 02/08/2017 11:10

lynseylou and Bluetiger oh thank goodness! i have been living on baked potato and cheese for my lunch recently so thought noooooo! i need that haha. I definately need to get more smart and clued up about what we are and aren't allowed Blush

bettybecks I get what you mean about the hunger i go from nausea cant even look at food to i need to eat everything now! in a second its like a painful hunger.

loverainbow thats great news at your appointment! oh thats good to know about the midwife app. I have mine on sunday so might take a we notebook and pen to try and scribble stuff down!

Tidmank thats rubbish about your family plans falling through, would you be able to facetime or skype your gran? then that way you can still see her reaction

Issy 50 hour weeks! that sounds awful! you must be so exhausted hope your managing ok

Hope everyone is doing ok! its hard work growing mini humans inside us, but wouldnt change it for anything :) x x

Bumpkin21 · 02/08/2017 11:38

6 weeks today and when I woke up the sickness hit me like a sack of bricks! That's the first time I've thought I might actually be sick. Strangely it's currently reassuring, but I'm sure the novelty will wear off!
Also, DH is being so sweet about it, being like "well done for growing us a bubba!" And checking how I'm feeling all the time. Didn't see that coming! Smile

JamdaniSari · 02/08/2017 11:48

@Bumpkin21 aww bless him Smile
I know what you mean about needing to be reassured. I'll be 6w on Fri I may feel something then, who knows! lol.
Hope everything goes well x

TidmanK · 02/08/2017 12:33

@KittyKat73 Yeah it's a real shame! Also found out my brothers have planned a trip to see our Dad this weekend and didn't even me they were planning on going! They are useless!
I'm really considering face timing my mum tonight and telling her so she can share the excitement with my granny. I'm seeing her in a couple of weeks but I don't think I can wait that long!
