Hi,

I just found out I'm pregnant with our first DC at lunchtime today.

Obviously very early days and anything could happen but thought it would be nice to have a little group who are due around the same month to share experiences and hand hold if needed.

Anyone around who is due in March?

@coastalchick - I was given a vaginal scan at 6w1D and my advice would be to wait longer than that if you can as you can't see much. The 8w seems much clearer. I don't think the midwives would ask for an early scan unless you had any MC symptoms but you can go private.

I am getting married August 2018 so I will have a 5 month old and I plan to follow slimming world and do lots of walking with the pram to get to the size I am now or less. My arms are the worst part of me so planning to do 1kg weight exercises. I would go dress shopping ASAP and see what the shops says as they must see this happen all the time. Good luck!

coastalchick · 30/07/2017 09:55

@DaddysGirl36 thanks for that! Will try to hold out as def don't want an internal scan!!!!

Good idea re SW - I might do that too - I also hate my arms!!!! Good call on the weights - have some at home so will do those too! Good luck to you also!!!!!

Yeah, reckon the shops must see this all the time - apparently they can take dress in up to 4 sizes without affecting it so hoping I will have some wriggle room. Doubt I'll get down to much more than maybe a stone off where I am now - it's just frustrating as if I start running etc it can drop off me really quickly but obv can't do that now so will just have to start after the birth!

The engagement BBQ was a success. I put fizzy white grape schloer in a wine glass and everyone assumed I was on the Prosecco Smile.

DaddysGirl36 · 30/07/2017 10:14

@coastalchick - you can still exercise whilst pregnant and do slimming world so if you feel that will work for you then look into it. I hate exercise but will try and so some and I follow slimming world myself but only loosely as I'm so hungry all the time now and keep having to snack to keep the nausea at bay

@LynseyLou - glad your engagement do went well and you kept the secret, I am avoiding any occasion where alcohol is involved as I am the one that always drinks and never takes the car and everyone would guess immediately. I had that Shloer stuff last weekend and I couldn't drink it, it smelt disgusting and I just couldn't enjoy it. I drank tea instead whilst my best friends were on the gin (they know my news)

Bumpkin21 · 30/07/2017 13:04

@LynseyLou and @DaddysGirl - I need your expert non-drinking tips! I have 3 weddings between now and 12 weeks and don't want everyone knowing! The champagne will be switched with DHs, or sadly end up in a sink. But any tips for subtly not drinking over a wedding dinner? That seems much more tricky!

LynseyLou1982 · 30/07/2017 14:00

The wedding I went to last weekend I asked the barman to put my appletiser in a flute for me so it looked like champagne. This coming weekend it's a friendshame housewarming party so I'm not sure what I'll do. I have an empty rose wine bottle that a friend left last nightime so I might wash that out and decant some rosè schloer into it and pretend it's wine. After that I have a BBQ on the 12th August but by then I'll be just about 12 weeks so I might just spill the beans.

Sorry typing whilst OH is driving! I can normally spell Smile

DaddysGirl36 · 30/07/2017 15:46

@Bumpkin - I went to a wedding last year when I was 9w. I stressed about it a lot but it was totally fine. I kept a glass of fizz or wine with me at all times and even though I doubt anyone noticed, I sipped the fizz occasionally and I poured the wine down the toilet at intervals so it looked like I had drank it. I did have the champagne toast. In the evening I switched to lemonade and lime and just pretended it had vodka in it

For a housewarming, I would decant non-alcoholic wine or similar in a normal wine bottle or two, hopefully no-one will ask you for a glass!

MrsL2016 · 30/07/2017 16:08

I have a wedding next week and I am hoping to just get away with holding the glass on getting my DH to swap with me every now and again to look like I am drinking. After the meal I don't think anyone will notice and I may have the odd sip. I feel so nauseous today that I am more worried about how I will feel since I am a bridesmaid, I can't really bring myself to do anything at the moment. Not helpful when I have just moved house and have so much to do.

Bumpkin21 · 30/07/2017 17:36

Thanks everyone! I have seen non alcoholic red wine in Sainsbury's- might hide some of that somewhere and sneak it into my glass!

Bumpkin21 · 30/07/2017 17:40

PS MrsL - I hear Ginger extract helps the nausea, not sure if that's proven though... Those belvita breakfast biscuits are good to nibble on so your stomach isn't empty, and sipping lukewarm water helps me a bit.

Bumpkin21 · 30/07/2017 19:29

Going really wild tonight!

Pregnancies due March 2018
Bumpkin21 · 30/07/2017 19:30

(It doesn't really taste like wine, sadly!)

MrsL2016 · 30/07/2017 22:14

I haven't tried non alcoholic wine yet but I have had a few beers and fruit ciders. The ciders are my favourite and I plan on using them to look like I am drinking in front of friends and family.

issy2165 · 31/07/2017 07:00

I'm struggling to get my self out of bed after 5pm morning sickness my ass try all night sickness😩 yucky! None of my family have ever suffered from it expect for me... yay!

TidmanK · 31/07/2017 07:56

@issy2165 Poor you! That's no fun at all!!
My struggle to get out of bed is exhaustion! I had a super long day yesterday so went to bed at 9:30 and I'm still knackered! So glad I'm 9 weeks today, only 3-4 more weeks and the first trimester symptoms will ease! I ready for some energy now!!

Winterc00kie · 31/07/2017 08:18

My morning sickness wakes me up! It's horrid up until lunch time xx

rider1975 · 31/07/2017 13:12

I hear you. I woke up and it felt like 3 men were sitting on my legs. Working from home - I'm breathless without doing anything physical - just today tho. Also 9 weeks today (all being well) Smile

Elspeth24 · 31/07/2017 15:15

Anyone else's brain completely gone? I keep making ridiculous mistakes at work (I've been doing this job for nearly 10 years!) and got told off today for one. I honestly think I wouldn't have made those mistakes if I wasn't pregnant dammit! I think my head must be away with the fairies a bit, finding it really hard to concentrate!

issy2165 · 31/07/2017 20:37

Yep my brain has turned to soup I'm blonde anyway but I have no brain anymore 😂

Bumpkin21 · 31/07/2017 21:09

It's only a matter of time before I put the kettle in the fridge.

Elspeth24 · 31/07/2017 21:19

So glad I'm not the only one!

BlueeSpottyTiger · 31/07/2017 21:32

Oh yeah totally! Baby brain 🤗
I've just had to be signed off for my sickness for a further 2 weeks. I feel like death warmed up!
That non alcoholic wine looks good!

Bumpkin21 · 31/07/2017 22:46

Oh no @BlueeSpottyTiger - hope the sickness passes soon! How many weeks are you?

BlueeSpottyTiger · 31/07/2017 23:20

Only 7+3 🙈 I've not had even 30mins of not feeling sick since the 22nd of July. Nothing shifts it.. tonight is my worst yet... I'm lying on the bed waiting for the mad dash to go throw up.. Urgh!
