Hi,

I just found out I'm pregnant with our first DC at lunchtime today.

Obviously very early days and anything could happen but thought it would be nice to have a little group who are due around the same month to share experiences and hand hold if needed.

Anyone around who is due in March?

My mat leave entitlement is similar @TidmanK you are only entitled to it after a years service - which for me thankfully is October.

Our mat pay is not great though it's 6weeks 90% 12 weeks 50% and 26 weeks smp- it's going to be tight for us but we are starting to make cost savings now etc to try and help.

Our mat leave also kicks in if we are off for preg reasons within a month of edd - so praying I gave a smooth pregnancy to ensure I can work as late as poss to make the most of my full pay!!

Morning all. Went for my private scan this morning. Everything is fine and growing in the right place :-) Saw my little bean and saw it's little heart fluttering away and got to hear it too. 2.14cm long and the heart rate was 170bpm. According to the sonographer I am 8 weeks and 6 days so 9 weeks tomorrow and due around 2nd March not the 14th as I thought. It's so reassuring to see and hear it though I still don't have many symptoms but feel much better now. I'd definitely recommend a private scan if your anxious.

Hi All.
So glad everyone seems to getting on so well.
We told my parents and siblings last night ( i didn't want to wait to tell them), and we are telling his folks this weekend. It's making it feel more real telling a few people!

I have noticed this morning that my boob pain has stopped. Is this normal, it does worry me slightly when symptoms stop? They are still more sensitive but they don't really hurt any longer. I have started feeling sick when i'm hungry, which if i'm honest is most of the time!

My maternity leave is not too bad actually. I get 90% pay for 6 weeks, then 7-18 weeks is 50% pay plus SMP, then after that its just SMP. We won't be able to afford for me to be on just SMP so i'll take some annual leave after 18 weeks then go back work (probably my full time hours just compressed into 3/4 days).

My other thing is i want to go out and buy everything! I'm just so excited to get things sorted that i want to buy everything now. But i know we should wait until at least 12 weeks!
How is everyone else getting on with wanting to buy everything?!

LynseyLou1982 · 27/07/2017 14:13

@ddegville I'm restraining myself so far but I know what you mean about wanting to buy everything. I'll have to cave soon though and buy some maternity bras and some trousers.

My maternity leave is OK. I have two options to choose from. 8 weeks full pay then 16 weeks half pay plus SMP, 15 weeks SMP only then 13 weeks with nothing or 16 weeks full pay plus SMP, 23 weeks SMP only and 13 weeks with nothing. Both would give me a year off, I don't know if I can afford to be just on SMP either so I might have to go back after my half pay time finishes.

My boob pain has stopped but they have grown massively and I have the same hunger sickness and really tired! Soon be 8 weeks! Eek so exited now

coastalchick · 27/07/2017 19:00

yep I am struggling not to buy stuff too - mainly little clothes!! My OH is gutted as he had earmarked one of the bedrooms for his guitars, drums, books etc. No sooner had he moved them in all there, was I pregnant! So that will now be redecorated (by him - that's rubbing salt in the wounds!) as a nursery and all his stuff moved out

Summerblush1982 · 27/07/2017 19:24

I'm 7 weeks 1 day today. I have really sore boobs that have grown in size and apart from that I've had no other symptoms. I had severe pain in my abdomen last Monday and the hospital referred me to a scan. Had a scan and saw the little heart fluttering away. The little bean only measure 2mm.

I've booked a private scan for next Saturday because I'm anxious for the lack of sickness symptoms! Shouldn't I be sick now? The lady who scanned me last week said I was smaller than 6 weeks and possibly a week behind.

When did everyone get their sickness from?

user1471858017 · 27/07/2017 19:56

Gosh I didn't realise how good I have it, I get 26 weeks full pay, will stop bitching about my employer then!

@summerblush1982 I was sick from 8-13 weeks with my first and 6-32 with my second, only very mild in the morning at the moment so will see about this time...

I am starting the testing and Gest Diabetes diet on Saturday so sneaking in cheesecake tomorrow (slice not cake, honest) as a last hurrah before months of weighing food and never feeling full. Anyone else on the GD diet?

Summerblush1982 · 27/07/2017 20:21

Thankyoh @user1471858017 that's reassuring. X

BlueeSpottyTiger · 27/07/2017 21:11

I've been stood looking at the spare room this evening with all these ideas in my head for a baby boy nursery.. although i really really think this baby will be a girl.
Either way im very happy a boy would mean one of each and a girl would be a little bestie for my dd.

Do you ladies have any thoughts on what you think you'll have!?

coastal oh i know exactly what you mean i wanna buy so bad.. I'll wait until the early gender scan this time as it annoyed me that dd's first clothes were mainly white or cream for the first few months lol x

BlueeSpottyTiger · 27/07/2017 21:12

user i want cake so bad now.. i only have a chocolate brioche that will have to do :(

Elspeth24 · 27/07/2017 22:32

Hello ladies!

Congratulations on all your BFPs. I got mine on Monday morning (hubby is on holiday I'm France so had to break the news over the phone, but like hell I was going to wait a week!)

I'm 5+1 today (app says 28th March ED) and it's alot to get our heads round as we appear to have fallen the first time of trying. I was not expecting it to happen so soon, quite the shock!

We've booked a private scan for Friday 4th when I'll be 6+2. I haven't really had many strong symptoms yet and any weak nausea I had the past week has gone now (desperately trying not to worry too much about that) I really need this scan as proof cos I feel like I've fabricated it all! (despite the missed period and "pregnant" text on the stick obvs!). Does anyone else feel okay too? Am I weird wishing to be sick?! I'm not even tired or emotional!

Also I'm a keen runner and gone out 3 times this week. I've kept it short, only 4miles each time.... Internet says this is fine but I still can't help but think maybe I should be wrapping myself up in cotton wool.

So many things to worry about now aren't there! With hubby away until Sunday I feel a bit lonely and like I'm going out my mind!

Hope you are all okay and getting lots of love, support and water! X

Bumpkin21 · 27/07/2017 22:48

@Elspeth24 we have the same EDD so we're exactly the same no. weeks and days! And I have a scan on the 4th too!

I had nausea at 4 weeks then it went away for a couple of days then I'm feeling it a bit this eve. Knackered too!

Keep up with the running if you can, exercise is supposed to be good for you. I might go for a run on Saturday but not sure I'll get far, even just walking feels like wading through treacle at the moment I'm so knackered!

Elspeth24 · 27/07/2017 23:05

@bumpkin21 Auwww we can be bump buddies!

Is this your first child? It will be ours.

So strange how some women get some symptoms and others nothing. I get quite a few twinges in my abdomen that are like mild period pains, but that's it. I've had those since we conceived pretty much, so I felt like I knew for 2 weeks before the test turned positive. Thought that seeing that BFP would stop my brain doing overtime but now I've found a whole host of other things to worry about! I guess this is what it will be like being a mum. For life!!

JamdaniSari · 28/07/2017 00:19

Congratulations :)

I got my BFP on Sunday. Had to go to the shop and get another test to double check...as you do!

Due on 30th March God willing Smile

It's my first time so I'm not sure what to expect. Still can't believe I'm pregnant! X

Bumpkin21 · 28/07/2017 07:21

@JamdaniSari - congratulations and welcome!

@Elspeth24 - it's my first time too, and we got a BFP first month of trying too, so we're in the same boat. Fingers crossed!

PS after a week of really wanting symptoms I've just woken up feeling really sick, and now regret any of that wishing!!

ddegville · 28/07/2017 08:25

@Elspeth24 - it was our first month of trying too.

I really want to do an early private scan just to reassure myself but we just can't afford it. They are so expensive (I'm my opinion) and we just can't spare that amount at the mo :-(

@coastalchick - our nursery is currently my partners computer room, he does a lot of pc gaming. We only moved in to our house end of March so he hasn't had the room long. Now he has to empty it out and he'll have to get a smaller desk so less room for 3 screens!

Elspeth24 · 28/07/2017 08:39

@bumpkin21 haha we seem to be having identical pregnancies except for the symptoms. I'll take half your sickness so it's not so bad for you but at least I get some proof I'm actually up the duff!

@ddegville congratulations! It's a lot to get your head round isn't it?! I assumed we'd be slogging away at it for months, feel very lucky. Our recent holiday coincided exactly with my fertile window so was very easy to go at it like rabbits Easter Smile Halo

LynseyLou1982 · 28/07/2017 08:42

@elspeth24 yep it was our first month of trying too. Like you I don't have many symptoms and was paranoid I'd imagined the 2 positive tests. I had a private scan yesterday. Definitely a baby in there 😊

Bumpkin21 · 28/07/2017 09:42

Uuurrrgggghhhhhh I feel sooooo sick this morning!! Can I moan to you guys as I have to act normal around colleagues and it's killing me! Bleurghhhhh.

JamdaniSari · 28/07/2017 10:03

What's 'dd'? Still getting my head around the acronyms!

Congratulations all 😀 Can't believe there's so many of us due March! X

JamdaniSari · 28/07/2017 10:04

Haha. I know what you mean about trying to act 'normal' in front of colleagues when deep down you're so excited and want to shout from the rooftops haha!

Elspeth24 · 28/07/2017 10:55

@jamdaniSari my boss just bought me a Neros coffee and i have to sit here pretending to drink it (there's far too much caffeine in those things) and we have beers on a Friday afternoon and i'm running out of excuses to turn them down!

What's worse is that we are a very small office and one of my colleagues has been going through IVF (or similar) the past few months and been very open about it, keeping us up to date with every step. He told us all the second they got a positive test at the hospital (2 days before I got mine) so all the talk is about him and his pregnancy and I'm just sitting in the corner mute, not wanting to say anything yet. I feel like such a wally :( :( Also IVF parents get a lot more check ups and tests and scans, it's hard to hear about it when i'm just winging it for now until our private scan next week. Itching for some confirmation!

P.S DD is due date....I think! (sometimes EDD i've seen for Estimated due date) x

JamdaniSari · 28/07/2017 11:07

Haha.

According to my calculations I'm due 30th March. When is your DD?

Are you suffering with any symptoms?

It's been a little over a year since I've been married and omg, people have been on my case lol.

I had a colleague who was undergoing IVF... although she's based in another office, we still keep in touch. I know she also had a very difficult first pregnancy...I just don't know how to announce it to her when the time comes, in case I upset her. X

meroe · 28/07/2017 11:13

Hi, I'm due on 21st March, but can't even think that far ahead because it's only 2 months since my miscarriage finished (it went on for 3 months just bleeding because the hospital didn't want to let me have surgery). How does anyone stay positive and stop thinking it's just going to happen again? I was 12 weeks when I miscarried, so it feels like ages to go before I feel "safe". I'm booked in for a private scan at 8 weeks, but I'm so afraid about it all.
Need some positive thoughts from you all...
