Hi,

I just found out I'm pregnant with our first DC at lunchtime today.

Obviously very early days and anything could happen but thought it would be nice to have a little group who are due around the same month to share experiences and hand hold if needed.

Anyone around who is due in March?

@TidmanK - sorry, I meant specifically about when your baby is born. I think mine just states my mat leave has to start within a week of my EDD or when the baby is born, whichever is sooner. But, yours might be a bit more flexible. So even if baby came a bit early, you might be able to take annual leave and then start your mat leave once your year is up.

TidmanK · 25/07/2017 13:57

@KitKat2891 Oh I see sorry! I can technically stop working and go on mat leave a month before the baby is born (I think) but as that would stop me getting my money I'll go in annual leave before. But if the baby comes earlier than planned mat leave starts the day the baby is born, you can't delay it (according to my boss - who isn't telling HR until I'm ready)

TidmanK · 25/07/2017 13:58

@KitKat2891 It's all a bit confusing really and I have nothing about mat leave in my contract so I'm only going off what my manager said to me until I speak to HR

KitKat2891 · 25/07/2017 14:25

@TidmanK - I think it's best to speak to HR as there might be a bit more leeway than your manager realises. Fingers crossed for you!

TidmanK · 25/07/2017 15:16

@KitKat2891 Yeah as soon as I'm happy to let them know I'll figure out what my options are

coastalchick · 25/07/2017 18:27

yeah good luck tidmank!

I have a bit of the same issue, my contractual (18 weeks full pay) only kicks in after 2 years and I am going to be 7 weeks off that! I've already written my letter asking them to consider giving it me anyway in the hope I'll get something (but not giving it in until after scan). Otherwise, I get only 2 weeks at full pay then will take 26 weeks unpaid and probably 5 weeks annual leave paid after that. Have to admit I am a little worried. With SMP and what I get from a rental property, I can still cover all outgoings, but would not be able to buy food or anything else!. But that's not taking into account OH's salary so we will be fine - just annoying.

So starting to save like, NOW. Squirrelling away as much as possible over the next 9 months (reckon I should save a fair bit now no longer able to drink - ha ha!) though we now also have a wedding to pay for end next year!

Just hoping work take pity on me, though no obligation on them to do so!

TidmanK · 25/07/2017 18:32

@coastalchick It's such a nightmare isn't it!! I hope they are good about it!

I just had my midwife Booking appointment, it was long (lots of questions) and involved a blood test but went really well and she answered a bunch of questions :)
It feels really great to know what's going on and where I'll give birth etc!

coastalchick · 25/07/2017 18:36

oh gosh, what sort of questions do they ask?!

KitKat2891 · 25/07/2017 18:41

Was that at St G's @TidmanK .
When do you refer for your appt? I'm still waiting to hear back from them for mine. I put my self referral in last Wednesday

Bumpkin21 · 25/07/2017 19:14

@KitKat I put my self referral into St Gs last Thurs, so I'll let you know when I hear back too.

KitKat2891 · 25/07/2017 19:32

Thanks @Bumpkin21 . Logically I know it won't make the scans etc come round any quicker, but this waiting is excruciating!
Keep going in circles about whether to have an early scan or not, but I'm just being massively impatient!

Bumpkin21 · 25/07/2017 19:52

I know what you mean! I thought the 2 week wait was bad, but the 9 month wait is so much worse!
I'm having a scan late next week when I'll be 6+2, as I've had some spotting. They asked me to come in earlier in the week, but I'm going later so there's more chance of seeing a heartbeat. Fingers crossed!

TidmanK · 25/07/2017 20:05

@coastalchick Just lots of medical history questions, living situation, mental health etc all easy questions

@KitKat2891 Yes it was St G's. I self referred on the 14th July and they called me to offer an appointment on the 20th. It's worth calling them to check on your form. The antenatal clinic telephone number is 020 8725 1708. If it helps I'm 8+1 today.

The receptionist told me I should call the scan people next week if they haven't got back to me with a 11-14week scan date.

@Bumpkin21 The EPU staff are lovely and will really help! I hope you see a heartbeat!

KitKat2891 · 25/07/2017 20:12

Good luck for next week @Bumpkin21 ! You'll have to keep us posted with how it goes.
And thanks @TidmanK . I'll call Thursday if I don't hear tomorrow. Sounds like they are getting people in pretty quickly, which makes me feel better.

TidmanK · 25/07/2017 20:20

@KitKat2891 sorry I gave you the wrong number! Call 020 8725 1710

BlueeSpottyTiger · 26/07/2017 13:51

Goodluck bumpkin
Goodluck for your mat pay costal im saving too! I'm taking 12months again with this baby which will be nice to spend with my dd before she starts nursery school the following year.
My mat is pretty good. I get 5months full pay, 4 months sat pay and then nothing for 3 months.. I've been at my company for 5 years so luckly qualify for all the benefits.
tidmank aww good! I know soooo many questions🙈 mine isn't until 2 weeks today!
Feels ages away!
69 days until we find out the gender cannot wait 🤗

After spotting yesterday and a lengthy hospital stay waiting to see a doctor i had my scan this morning. Luckly the baby was big enough to be seen on an abdominal ultra sound and i did not need an internal afterall 😅 i measure right where i should be at 6+3.. the baby is in the right place which is the whole reason i had the scan as they thought it may have been ectopic. My partner, daughter and i got to see the little heart fluttering away 🤗 it was a great xx

Bumpkin21 · 26/07/2017 14:17

@bluespottytiger - yay glad to hear all is ok, and that you got to see a little heartbeat! Makes me feel a bit more reassured and excited for my 6+2 scan next week!

TidmanK · 26/07/2017 19:26

My scan is officially booked! On the 21st August I will see my little 12week baby!!!!

issy2165 · 26/07/2017 19:32

Yet again haven't heard from my midwife it's so irritating 🙄

FuzzyOwl · 26/07/2017 19:52

Glad to hear of the good scan news and hope everybody else is doing well.

issy2165 · 26/07/2017 20:16

I'm really struggling with the whole hunger issue I feel so sick when I get hungry but I can't physically eat 24/7😕

Bumpkin21 · 26/07/2017 21:12

Tidmank - will you be 12 weeks on the dot when you go for your scan? I hear sometimes they do them at 11 weeks, but not sure if that's standard or just when dates are wrong!

TidmanK · 26/07/2017 21:54

@Bumpkin21 Yeah that'll be my 12weeks on the dot! I've got my pre scan blood test at 11 weeks
I would imagine it's just fallen that way by chance and they do them early or late sometimes depending on how busy they are

MrsL2016 · 26/07/2017 22:32

My antenatal pack from the midwives says the '12 week scan' can happen anywhere from 10 weeks to 13+6, so I imagine it is just when they can fit you in during that time frame. And our dates may change at that scan anyway based on measurements. I am just on countdown to my booking appointment in 2 weeks, as my scan will be booked after that.

BlueeSpottyTiger · 26/07/2017 23:09

This is my issue, im on hols between 11+4 and 13+4 which is a thursday so unless i have my scan on that friday when I'm back when I'll be 13+5. I'll have to have it before i go.. but today at the epu they said I'll be atleast 12 weeks before i have my scan now!?
