'tis a bit quiet on here today!

i am knackered today! dd woke up at 5.45am shouting "toilet! toilet!" i wanted to yell back at her to do it in her nappy and go back to sleep, but i couldn't really!! i guess i will be stopping her milk before she goes to bed now in the hope that she wont wake in the night needing a wee! can't be doing with disturbed nights! especially as once she is awake, thats it! no going back to sleep for her!! Oh No! she just sits there jabbering away at full volume!!!

she just disturbed me 'mid-post' then with another "toilet toilet!" and then afterwards she said "big big big big poo, big big big big bit choclate!" .............yes i have been bribing her! but it seems to work!!! she is making me giggle so much today! shes great at the mo!

greedygreedyguzzler · 30/04/2007 14:14

that sounded horrible didnt it? she is ALWAYS great! just especially great at the mo!!

Ah bless her!! We also bribed my DS with chocolate until we relised that he seemed to be going to the toilet and squeezing on a tiny but of wee just to get the
chocolate - He'd be shouting 'TREAT' even before he'd pulled his pants down. We had to find another way of rewarding him otherwise we were going to end up with an obese teenager with a bladder problem

My Ds is especially yummy at the moment too, although we were reading a book at the weekend and the monkey had lost his mum (monkey puzzle for those who've got it - one of my fave's!!). My DS said "the baby monkey is crying for his daddy cos his mummy is at work" - I felt awful!!!!!

Chooster · 30/04/2007 14:42

Crossed posts Firststar!! I'm very exicted at the prospect of my new buggy!!! DH thinks I'm totally bonkers Am sure your family will all be really excited about your LO... I may be happier for my family to get more involved this time too. When I had DS1 I was adamant I wanted to do everything myself and didn't really let them help much. It may need to be different this time round.

Hi I've been feeling very cold for some reason and they've said I have low BP and my doctors messed me around regarding my iron blood test and tabs, I got so feed up for the last time and changed doctor's MW said take the iron tabs (3 times a day only managing 2/1 a day) and take another iron test in 3/4 weeks so if there kicking in and so on, told here I was thinking about moving doctors she gave me my options and I decided on one, so now I changed doctors it seem to have been I weight off my mind I can tell you, but still feeling sleepy and light headed from time to time but MW said it will take a few weeks for the iron to kick in. regards to the "babyshow" we are going to the NEC one which is in a 2 weeks cant wait DH got 4 free tickets though work, I gave 2 away (aren't I nice). So what pushchair are you all getting or got? and I'll have a look (love looking at pushchairs me) yes I'm nosey! And I had some bad pain very much like BH 2 nights ago but all is well now, I think my body is practicing ! soz if there any spelling in a rush off to get 2DS from football back later!

MrsMcJnr · 30/04/2007 16:15

now I know why I hate put on weight Greedy! It?s in sympathy with you ladies! 7 pounds since Jan! It creeps up and down but won?t shift ? just not trying hard enough I guess . PMSL at your DD sounds fun

No! I hope you are ok Honeyapple after your fall.

I did get some results ? thyroid & blood count (and liver (amazingly) & kidneys) are fine, don?t know about iron yet but I do have a blood clotting disorder have to see the specialist to know more so am waiting for an appointment which might take a while. All a bit scary at the mo. I know lots of people have these problems and do manage to have a healthy baby but it?s taken away my hope that the MC was a one off bit of bad luck (even though I don?t know that the disorder caused it).

Awful about Beansprout ? I really feel for her the Temp Buddies are getting a bit down it has to be said, there haven?t been any BFPs for ages (apart from Beansprout?s ) there have been a couple on the TTC after a MC thread which is lovely and makes me feel really hopeful but I?m sorry to say the BFPs on the normal TTC thread don?t make me feel much better though I am happy for them

Shhhhhhhhhh fate cover your ears ? great that the bleeding?s stopped Greedy

Hello Firststar hope all is good with you.

Babymad have you been having a bad time? Sorry I haven?t kept up.

Hello Chooster hope you had a lovely weekend ? the Hen was fine in the end, good fun! How sad that DS said that about the Monkey!! He loves nursery though so you shouldn?t feel bad! Starting talking some aspirin after our chat, thanks for listening!

BabyMadwithBump · 30/04/2007 16:36

Hi MrsMc YES just a few scares but i'll be fine! How are you? how are you getting on with things?

BabyMadwithBump · 30/04/2007 16:47

MrsMc talking about iron, when I was TTC I had low iron though out just under boarder line my doctors told me (when I got PG, nice hay) but the month a conceived I was taking iron as it came with a supplements I started taking, I've always believed since the doctor told me about my iron levels (if I haven't got PCOS) it was down to low iron that it tuck 18 months to conceive! IYSWIM

MrsMcJnr · 30/04/2007 16:56

So sorry to hear you have had some scares I hope all is ok now? Interesting about the Iron. I'm ok, alot to take in at the mo. TTC seems more of a challenge now.

greedygreedyguzzler · 30/04/2007 17:34

hiya mrs! nice to hear from you! sorry about your clotting disorder, whats it called? nosey aren't i? can't resist anything medical!

chooster - i love that book monkey puzzzle, but the first time i read it i cried on the last page! think i was pg with dd at the time, so obviously it was my hormones! i wouldn't worry too much about what your ds said! my ds told me nanny was better than me the other day cos her hair felt nicer than mine! (hers feels like straw, so i am not sure what that says about mine!!!)
we bribed ds with choc when potty training him too and he just kind of forgot after a while................unfortunately he has twigged what we are doing with dd and now HE wants choc after every wee and poo too! just as well they still have loads of easter eggs hey!

I WANT A NEW PUSHCHAIR TOO! but i wont be getting one!

BabyMadwithBump · 30/04/2007 17:50

greedy why not?

greedygreedyguzzler · 30/04/2007 17:59

cos we have only just bought one a few months ago and i cant really justify it! i have had 2 singles and 2 doubles and i reckon i have spent less than £200 on them in total! so i have never been one for spending lots on buggies! im trying to decide if i will be ok without a double this time.....thats my problem really.........i dont fancy a buggy board much (not very good for your back!)

i would like to be more like you babymad, but i cant bring myself to spend lots on a pushcahir! i am just a tightarse really i think!

BabyMadwithBump · 30/04/2007 18:10

I'm just a pram junkie lol, how old are your LO's? Got my next MW in 2 weeks I will be asking for a sure start grant form see if I'm entitled (I think that's how you spell it) to any, dh did an online calculation at the start of the PG and we think we are entitled to most of it, so I'll be asking for a form, then just wait and see, Baby stuff is so expansive I think, when you think of all the stuff you do need!

Bodkin · 30/04/2007 20:03

Evening all.

Hi MrsMc - lovely to hear from you again, but sorry to hear you have got the clotting disorder... however, it IS good that you found out about it now and can take any action necessary to aid TTC.

We are big fans of Monkey Puzzle in this house too! But the one that always reduces me to a complete state (pg or not) is, oh brain - dur can't remember title... it's the one about Small and Large and Small is feeling grumpy and grim and asks his mummy if she would love him if he turned into a bug etc. Gets me every time - DD points it out when we see it in the library now and says "thats the one that makes you cry isn't it mummy"!!!

Nothing much to report from here - my mum is coming to visit tomorrow for a couple of days - I'm planning to hand her a bottle of RoundUp and point her in the general direction of the bindweed infested garden!!!

greedygreedyguzzler · 30/04/2007 20:20

babymad - my ds is 3.9 so obviously no buggy needed for him! (unless he falls over on the way to school like today, when i had to turf my dd out of the buggy so he could sit in it and whimper!) and dd is 2.4 but a wonderful walker most of the time! so not sure about a double buggy.

have finally calmed down a bit after teatime/bathtime from hell! after saying earlier how cute and amazing my kids are at the moment they both decided to remind me what hard work they can be when they want to be! they were both SO knackered tonight after a few late nights at the weekend and so wouldn't do ANYTHING they were told and they are both the clumsiest kids in the world when they are tired so they kept banging into things and falling over and just generally crying and whinging and driving me COMPLETELY INSANE!!!!!!!!!!! could have done with dh being around tonight!

HOW THE FUCK AM I GOING TO COPE WITH NO.3???????

Anyway! they are both fast asleep now and i feel a lot more chilled after munching my way through a huge bag of crisps!

bodders! hello! dont know what book you mean, but i am going to try and hunt it down! sounds cute!

fettle - saw your post on the oct thread and i have to say you have a lot of influence over me! i have NEVER considered reuseable nappies for more than about 2 minutes before cos i am basically too lazy, but after reading what you said about them looking so easy, i am seriously considering it! which ones in particular did you mean? go on convince me! i would love to be more environmentally friendly really!

BabyMadwithBump · 30/04/2007 20:52

My two 5 and 7, just lately like rubbing each other up the wrong way IYSWIM, and it's getting to me alittle I'm sure once DS#1 goes to bigger school it'll be better as that way they wouldn't see each other as much as they do at the moment, here's hoping! I had a morning from hell last week to the point i told (shouted more likely) them not to say another word the rest of the time they were getting ready for school and all the way to school untill they got in there class room, as they were saying and being nasty to one another, well if they havn't got anything nice to say then dont say anything at all, is what I say! when I had DS#2 we got a twin pushchair and I really didn't get on with it, sold it a few weeks later!

MrsMcJnr · 30/04/2007 21:39

Thanks Greedy and Bodkin

I'm "Heterozygous for the prothrombin G20210A mutation" Greedy

Chooster · 01/05/2007 10:20

Medical names for things always sound scary dont they! Maybe its just because I'm not medical and dont really understand them . MrsMc, the small amount of aspirin does seemed to be used by a lot of people and you never know! I really hope there is a flood of good news on the temp buddies thread and others in TTC.

MOnkey puzzle and the snail and the whale are my 2 favourite books I think. The snail and the whale is so nicely written. I find it such a cute story.

Thanks for your kind words about my DS saying that stuff about me working. I know he does enjoy nursery but I think because I work full time, I'm more sensitive to comments like that. I wouldn't have chosen to be full time if I hadn't been made redundant by my last pesky employers! Anyway roll on maternity leave and part time after that!! Hooraaaayyy!!

Greedy I am totally with you on the re-usable nappies thing. I like the idea but just not sure whether I would actually do it . I know this is not very 'planet friendly' but I'm leaning towards it because people have said its more comfortable for the little ones as you get these fleece linings now which are softer for them. I think I'm going to look into it anyway. Someone recommended the bambino mio ones to me... Anyone got any other recommendations?

Bodkin · 01/05/2007 11:50

Remembered the name of that book now Greedy - it's called No Matter What by Debbie Gliori - it is very cute, funny (and a bit slushy)

MrsMc - wow - that is an impressive sounding condition! Sounds like something out of Star Trek!

Greedy - phew - I thought you were the perfect mum for a while there - you mean your kids were winding you up and you were panicking about having another baby? Gosh, that's not something I've suffered from at all this pregnancy

Now, onto washable nappies. I used them about 75% of the time with DD (and when I did use disposables i got the Moltex Oko or the "greenish" ones from Waitrose - Nature Boy and Girl) There are probably loads of new types on the market in the 3 years or so since I got into them, but I used a combination of traditional terries with a nappy nipper (new type of safety pin) when she was little and not on the move, and then Motherease (fab) when she got more mobile. I found a website called The Nappy Lady really helpful, but that was before I knew about Mumsnet and expect there is loads of advice on here somewhere. I got quite anorakky about it, in fact I even made a few of my own (copied the pattern from some I had bought) which I'll use again as they worked quite well. But basically, it is all about getting used to them, and not giving yourself a hard time if you go back to disposables for the odd day or two if you're ill, or stressed or whatever. HTH

Hiya,

I really want to go for resuable nappies this time around. However I have heard a lot of people say that it is best not to bother until baby a few weeks old, as the stress of newborn and trying to do nappies might put you off... the nappylady is a good website. I am going to get one of their reps over later on in PG.

Firststar- I think you use nappy liners, so just chuck the poo down the loo... so hopefully NOT washing pooey nappies. (Much better than sticking poo in the bin and into land fill sites) . Newborn poo if BF doesnt smell horrid anyway- kind of sweet and yeasty . Actually disposables themselves really smell bad... I think it is the gel they use in them- mixed with the pee that stinks.

Anyway, I have high hopes of trying my best- but will not turn my back on disposables completely. The Nature ones are good I think- you can get them in Sainsburys too. I liked the leaves pattern on them rather than some Disney cartoon- starting kids off a bit young eh.

Greedy- I'm with you on the buggy front. Have decided not to get a new one. MIL a bit . Worried baby will be slumming it. Don't intend to get anything actually!!

MrsMcJ- not sure what the clotting issue means for you, but at least you can find out how to deal with it now. I am desperate for another temp buddy to get a BFP. It is terribly sad how long the drought has been. And poor Beansprout.

Oh and I cry all the time when reading to DD. Especially for me it is the books I remember as a child. Anyone heard of Dogger? It's a killer.

MrsMcJnr · 01/05/2007 15:45

Thanks ladies hoping to join you and these interesting sounding discussions properly soon. Only 4 or 5dpo and symptom spotting like mad, I should know so much better

Bodkin · 01/05/2007 18:49

Oh Honeyapple, don't get me started on Dogger! How great is Bella! I am (optimistically) hoping my DD will be such a fine example of an older sister to baby bodders!

Yes Firsty, as Honeyapple says the poo thing is not too bad to start with (well, not until they start on solids, and especially if they are breastfed) , it is not stinky, and tbh with your own baby you don't care even when it is! And Honeyapple is right, most of it goes into the paper liner that gets flushed down the loo - the occasional seepage occurs, but so it does with disposables, so you;re never truly poo-free anyway!

MrsMc, as ever, my fingers are well and truly crossed for you. Have you spoken to a doctor or consultant about the implications of your condition on TTC? I saw Chooster mentioned something about low-dose aspirin, it can't hurt to try, and it certainly worked for my friend (who had a similar condition)
