Oooh, that sounds sore Honeyapple! I've done a couple of stupid things too, more so in my last pregnancy and DH gets really really cross, which doesn't help at the time. Really hope your bum is feeling a bit better.

Wow, Greedy - you're mum does sound amazing. I'm worrying about how we'll cope with a newborn and toddler and thats with all feet operational!

Grrr, my SKY saga is just getting worse really - apparently now I have to write to them exaplaining my complaint. Its all just a massive waste of time... Anyway, I'm still mad enough to write a shitty letter so I'd better get that done before I lose the momentum

fettleandminifettle · 26/04/2007 21:02

Why you having trouble with Sky, Chooster? DH and I are just considering signing up to Skyplus - our digital freeview box doesn't really get good reception here and won't get any where we are moving to in August. Won't cope without Cbeebies for DD when we have a newborn as well to look after [I know, I know bad parenting, but don't deny you all do it too, even a little bit, don't you? Please say you do?]

Did you see the apprentice last night? How funny was Tre? Although he still annoys me!

BTW, how are the duvet clips working out? Getting fed up getting up in the night just because DD has kicked her duvet off again!

Hi ladies... I love my Sky plus fettle and would really recommend it, its more their sales process thats made me mad. When I moved from Virgin to Sky I bought TV, phone and broadband (they checked I could get the broadbad before I bought it). However when I went to try to get it connected they said my exchange couldn't support broadband and I'd need a 'special type' of broadband that just happened to cost £17 more a month. I wouldn't have left Virgin had I known . Anyway, it was the bit that came next that really pissed me off. I've been passed from department to department and done a huge amount of 'holding'. I finally went through to the cancellation department to cancel my contract but have been told, once again, that I have to write in as I've not been a customer long enough to have my issues dealt with on the phone . A fine example of customer service eh?

Anyway, got most of it off my chest in a two page letter . Probably wont do any good but I feel better.

Fettle, I didn't get those duvet grips in the end but DS still pushes the covers off so I'm going to get them soon. Its DS's birthday in a couple of weeks and am ordering some things from the internet so will get the grippers at the same time. I'll let you know how they are.

Its nice and sunny up here today - hope it is for you all too!!!

Morning all! Just a quick post as have loadso ofwork to do and not enough time as usual. Chooster -give em hell - put those pregnancy hormones to good use and let rip! Iam so much more feisty when pregnant. I won't even begin to tell you what happened to a poor council worker who tried to fine us £50 for putting our rubbish out too early last time I was pg..... Well, maybe I will when I 've got more time. Suffice to say I don't think he will EVER forget me

Not a fan of Cbeebies, in fact, we jsut have the 4 channels, but have a lot of vids and dVDs that I put on for DD. TBh i wish she'd watch telly a bit longer sometimes - usually I'll jsut sit down for a quick mooch on mumsnet when she'll come up to me to sya "i've had enought mummy..." and then i have to do all that "parenting" stuff again.....

Feel I need to quickly defend myself and say that DD doesn?t watch TV all the time ? just for brief 30 mins of so, when I have to do something quickly, or I?m having a shower or something in the morning. And I always vet what she watches! Some programmes on Cbeebies are just weird ? others she loves!

On the whole though, like yours Bodkin, she gets bored after a while and is very good at turning it off when asked to. Have to say we have some videos and DVDs, but I?ve never yet got her to sit down and watch a film or anything like that. I have some friends who were taking their 3-years olds to the cinema ? DD would never sit still that long!

Now it?s summer, she?d rather be outside anyway, but come the autumn and baby-time I?m worried that I will need her to be safely occupied from time to time ? hence the need for CBeebies, although I?ve heard people rave about Dora, and that must be on another channel.

Must work

Sorry fettle - didn't mean to sound anti-telly for kids!! I am very much pro-telly! But we can't get digital round here, and don't want to fork out for Sky. As for Dora - I have seen some threads elsewhere about parents driven to despair with their DDs obsession with her! Don't go there! Now Charlie and Lola on the other hand..., well even I love them!

By the way - the Apprentice - Tre was hilarious - I've never heard so much bullshitting in my life!

honeyapple · 27/04/2007 16:06

I dont think there is anything wrong with kids watching a bit of TV. I certainly did. Mind you then it was only available for 2 hours a day... I remember the pain of being ill off school and there being bugger all on to watch apart from The Sullivans or the news! My DD could happily sit in front of the tele for hours if I let her... but the cinema is another matter. She is really still quite rubbish at sitting still through a whole film.

Just been eating some pineapple- but now got some weird thought that it isnt good to eat when PG... stimulates contractions???? Did I just make this up? Will have to go and Google it now...

Turned into a lovely afternoon here... hope the weekend is sunny .

KitKat30 · 27/04/2007 16:16

Hello peeps! Just a quick howdy to check you're all OK and here's hoping you have a lovely weekend!

Honeyapple - I had the same worry (search on these pg threads and you'll find all the answers!). Basically I think you'd have to eat about 40 pineapples before it had any effect! So chomp away.

Will post properly next week - have a good one girls!

xx

PS. have uploaded most recent pic of the little bean!

Hiya, yup, I've come to the same conclusions regarding the pineapple issue... mind you I have just eaten half of one.

Lovely picture kitkat. I can't remember- do you know the sex? Dont want to know?

greedygreedyguzzler · 27/04/2007 18:09

so much to say!!!!!

fettle - get sky + its FAB!!!!!
McTimoney chiros don't click and crack! we are much gentler, so yes you could try one! ........and that will be £30 please!!!

honeyapple - hope you are feeling much better now.

my ds is a complete tv addict!!! i think it comes from restricting him TOO much!!! i took him to the cinema when he was 2.5 and he didn't move at all, he was completely transfixed!!!! he would watch tv all day if i let him! so i have to limit it to one hour a day!

re baby movements, i think i have felt it, in fact i am sure i have, but only when i really concentrate!

just had a MW appt and she took 10mins to find the HB! i was nearly in tears! and then once she found it i WAS in tears from relief!!! it was a bit scary! she said it takes ages sometimes at my stage but i was still thinking the worst!

oh........and my mum isn't THAT amazing! she has booked a few days away in Lisbon on my due date!!! how inconsiderate hey!!!!??? anyone would think she had her own life to live as well!

honeyapple · 27/04/2007 18:30

Hi Greedy-

Your mum prob thinks you are such a pro nowadays that you wont need her...mind you I would be a little bit miffed if my mum did the same. I know it is her number 8 grandchild- so the novelty is wearing off- but still, she should be here! Actually it was MIL who stayed over the first night we came back with DD and walked about with her all night while I slept. (It was her first grandchild in comparison).

Sad about Beansprout on the temp threads . It is still so amazing that your LO stayed with us despite the amazing conception and your bleeding. Has that stopped now Greedy?

Lady on our street- I've just noticed her bump! She has only just had a baby... there will be only 14 mths between them. Crikey.

fettleandminifettle · 27/04/2007 21:11

thanks Greedy - can i buy you a drink when I meet you!! I'm off with work on Sunday for a few days, so i'll see how my back is when I get back. Looking forward to it a bit, but will miss DD and DH so much!

My MW appointment last week also took about 10 mins to find the heartbeat - was I crying my eyes out. Tried to disguise it for poor DD's sake, but I was so relieved. the MW was so apologetic for her dodgy machine! Your scan must be coming up soon Greeds, when do you have it? Mine is 2 weeks on Tuesday.

I haven't even discussed my mum coming down for the due date, just assuming she will - isn't that awful? She's flying down this eve to help DH with DD next week while I'm away, so I'll broach the subject with her then. Suppose we'll have to think about childcare options for birth-day as some point, but it's ages away still isn't it!!

Honeyapple - hows the bottom?

Have a great weekend everyone - I think the weather is supposed to be great again (in fact better than Italy where I'm going, which is a pain!)!

MrsMcJnr · 27/04/2007 23:47

Ladies there is no way I am going to catch up! I am sorry I have been away for so long. I have been thinking about you all - can someone summarise for me, what's been happening?

greedygreedyguzzler · 28/04/2007 10:01

we are all getting fatter mrs! thats about it i think! and honeyapple fell into the bath!

hope you are feeling ok, i read something about your blood test results but couldn't find your post on it, so dont really know what is going on. did you get some results you weren't expecting? hope your dh is being more enthusiastic now too. did you read about beansprout? i feel really sorry for her.

fettle - buy me a drink WHEN you meet me! how cool would that be ?! hope your back gets better by itself, it prob will to be honest bby the sound of it, but keep an eye on it! my scan isn't till 24th may! crap hey? and its so scary when they cant find the HB isn't it? my old MW used to find it instantly! she was fab! my ds kept saying "are you ok mummy?" all the time and my dd was saying "what dat? what dat?" about EVERYTHING and making me giggle with nerves and cry at the same time, so i guess that didnt help them much!

honeyapple - don't mention my bleeding!............SSSSSSSsssssssssshhhhhhhhh! .............i haven't wanted to temp fate, but i haven't had ANY for about 2 weeks now! not even spotting!...........i bet that all changes now i have admitted that its stopped! i am a great believer in tempting fate!!! also whay i haven't mentioned how potty training dd is going!!!
hope your poor little bum is better now

have a fab weekend all!

Hi everyone, Hope you all had good weekends! As Firststar says how are you doing babymad?

When it comes to mothers / mothers in law I have the opposite. I adore my mum but wouldn't really want her around too much when DS2 is born - same with MIL really, and we get on well too. It may be down to the fact that they are SO exicted that they are a bit over the top. DH and I are both only children so the DS's we have are the only grandchildren on both sides. I do feel really lucky when i read you guys talk about grandparents who may not massively involved, but I do like a bit of space in those early days. ALso my mum is a bit of a drama queen and will probably need as much looking after as DS2 if she came to stay

I gave the babyshow a miss at the weekend - I would have just bought too much stuff - did anyone go this year? However I have seen the buggy that I want to get for DS2... Its FAB!!!! (well I think it is - I trying to find someone who's got on) - Its called a i-candy cherry but is a little pricey. Have broached the subject with . Babymad - you are a buggy expert, have you heard of it?

Good to see you back on our thread MrsMc - pop back again soon!!

Chooster · 30/04/2007 14:01

Ooops, that should have said "broach the subject with DH!"
