Hello - I KNEW it was Kiki all along too - but was keeping shtum! It is a fab name and it reminds me of the very lovely cat in Hector's House. I never watched it myself (too young of course...) but DP bought a video of it for DD. For girl's names I seem to be swaying towards names ending in an "a", so far we have mulled over Orla, Rula, Rosa, Carla, Eliza, but not decided on any yet. I keep thinking I will stumble across a name and think "yes, that's it!" like I did with DDs, but nothing is really standing out.

Honeyapple - good luck with Maureen! That's such a classic midwife name!

Now, onto homebirths. i'm planning on one as well - should I start collecting shower curtains and dustsheets now? I don't feel nearly ready to start thinking about that part of the deal....

PinkButterfly · 25/04/2007 14:06

I was going to say Kiki (following Honeyapple's clue) but Greedy said her name was registered once on that 2006 baby website and I didn't see it there so didn't think that could be it !!!

honeyapple · 25/04/2007 16:20

Well, I've had a lovely time with Maureen! She was fab . Not at all like what I expected from her name- she was quite glam and trendy! Just goes to show how important names are! She is very positive about me having a homebirth- BTW Bodders- she never mentioned shower curtains to me... said I would get a "pack" at 37 wks with all the info. Even suggested hiring a pool... not sure there is room- would have to be in the middle of the kitchen! She stabbed me a few times before getting blood though which was very ow ow ow, but I grinned through the pain...and then had a listen to LO and heard a lovely HB. Have another appointment in 2 wks time, then 20 wk scan, then dont see her until 28 wks. All very positive. It was health visitor time at GP so lots of lickle babies in the waiting room- I tried to act cool and read my 2002 home and garden mag... I hate smug mums smiling at you, thinking irritating thoughts like, "Ah, bless, you dont know what you're letting yourself in for...".... YES I BLOOMING WELL DO I HAVE 2 KIDS ALREADY, STOP SMILING AT ME!!!!!!!

BabyMadwithBump · 25/04/2007 16:33

honeyapple glad your MW app went well and its always nice when you hear the HB isn't it! My MW suggested a water birth too, and when I told her I hadn't got the room she said whats your garden like......? LOL maybe just maybe pool, hot day, a few drink, maybe even a BBQ, a light party going on..............okay I back, anything possible! LOL

honeyapple · 25/04/2007 16:35

HA! Mmmm, not sure what the neighbours would say! MW said apparently someone she had wanted to give birth in her apple orchard...
Mind you pool in kitchen is handy when everyone wants a cuppa tea...

PinkButterfly · 25/04/2007 16:37

Honeyapple - great news everything went so well with midwife today.

Babymad - pmsl at thought of you giving birth in your garden!

BabyMadwithBump · 25/04/2007 16:40

LOL....MIL has a Gazebo with Side Panels ... like I said maybe just maybe !

I never would of thought of it till MW mentioned it, but late July/early August best time if anyone was going to do it, but as plans like that go, haven't made any don't want to be to disappointed if things didn't turn out the way want them but we'll see!

Bodkin · 25/04/2007 17:40

Now you mention it Honeyapple, I seem to remember my sister having a "pack" delivered to her at about 37 weeks when she had her youngest 5 years ago - how we laughed when she told us there was even a pair of "goggles" inside!!!! Having been through childbirth and had my waters broken with the old crochet hook, I now understand why! Great that you got to hear HB.

fettleandminifettle · 25/04/2007 19:52

Hi All

Have to be quick - got to go cook supper.

thanks for the advice re DD - she'll be 3.5 then. Moving due to DH's job and DD is in nursery near where I work, which is a 30 mile drive from where we currently live and where we are moving too, so i don't think I'll be driving 120 miles a day to take her to her old nursery, so trying to find somewhere for her where we are moving to. Thinking about sending her to the nursery connected to the local prep school - I know that sounds very la-di-da, but it will be cheaper than my current nursery fees!! and as we will be moving again in 2 years time, just as she starts big school, she'll at least have a term at school with at least some friends she's known throughout nursery. Anyway, just trying to make life as a forces brat as easy for her as possible, without sending her to boarding school at 6, which some people seem to do!

I love the name Kiki too, by the way!

Also PinkB, don't worry about naming your baby after a character in a TV programme. I actually first heard DD's name on a TV programme and really liked it, so she really is named after someone on TV. Luckily the show is no longer on and noone has even noticed!

I also agree, I don't like the Stella storyline, have to say that I've stopped watching so much at the moment, because of it. I really hate it. While I'm on the subject, isn't that news story about the mother, aunts and grandmother encouraging and filming their children fighting just awful!

Enough said - supper is probably burning!

All well here, but my back and hips are definitely playing up. But I picked up DD awkwardly yesterday, so hopefully it will get better again. Grumpy about work as well, but that's another whole story, but yesterday I was really happy and willing to work until the latest time possible, today i want to leave as soon as possible - wonder what I'll feel tomorrow!!

take care all
xxx

BabyMadwithBump · 25/04/2007 20:07

For Ds#2 I want "Ki" and DH wanted kyle so I agreed as I still get to call him "Ki" for short !

Chooster · 25/04/2007 21:59

Aaaarghhh, just had big fight on the phone with SKY. It did my head in having to find my way through the maze of "Press 1 for xxxx", then to be told, your call will be answered in... 29 minutes . I was in a really REALLY bad mood by the time I got through. The worst part was that I found myself about to cry at one point , which is not like me at all! Fortunately I think I managed to cover it up with a strategic 'cough'.

Anyway sorry for the rant!!! I do feel better now though

Hope your dinner was nice Fettle - Just some crunchy nut cornflakes for me tonight as DH out and I couldn't be bothered.

Oh I know Fettle - those women who filmed those poor kids. It makes my blood boil when people are so cruel. I just hope they get a taste of their own medecine one day.

greedygreedyguzzler · 26/04/2007 11:09

ok yes! you got it Kiki! sorry pinkb i must have got it wrong about that website! just to really confuse you!

all of you homebirth girls are making me want one again! i might start considering it again! depends what is happening with our extension! it would certainly be a lot easier with thinking about childcare for dd and ds.

i know what you mean honeyapple about people giving you that look, like 'you dont know what you are letting yourself in for!' that annoys me too! i got the other look last mw visit though cos i took my two with me........so it was the "oh my god, are you completely mad doing it AGAIN!" look!!!! that one is annoying too!

honeyapple · 26/04/2007 12:05

Hi,

Did a very daft thing last night... feel very cross with myself and upset. Decided to paint the new bathroom as DP and DS were watching the footie- anyway, I fell off the ladder and have really hurt my bum- as I actually fell into the bath. Stupid mare I am. DP very cross with me as he didnt know I was up a ladder... anyway, went and lay down on the bed to try and get myself together as was a bit in shock- then just burst into tears as being SO stupid. When I was up the ladder I was kind of having premonitions of falling off it... Didnt sleep well as I feel all bruised and worried. Feeling a bit less worried today, but just as stupid and cross with myself- and still have a very sore bottom.

Anyway, anyone else done anything equally daft?

honeyapple - i very nearly fell off a chair this morning. i was climbing on it to sort out my ds's blind in his bedroom and it toppled a bit so i reached out for the wall to stop it from toppling right over and hurt my wrist. i was really annoyed with myself afterwards cos i kept thinking "what if i had fallen right off and landed on my tummy". its very hard not to do things you would normally do when you are pg isn't it. my dh always says " you should have asked me to do it" but if he's not there its a lot easier to just do it myself!

at least now you will think twice before climbing again!

my mum fell off a kitchen stool on the day she was due to be induced when pg with me!!!! she broke her ankle and sprained her other one! needless to say i was born by c-section cos she was in no fit state to give birth naturally! and she nearly had a nervous breakdown afterwards cos she had a 2 year old and a newborn to deal with! i always think of what she went through and how amazingly she coped if i am having a bad day!!!

greedygreedyguzzler · 26/04/2007 13:43

hey everyone! there is a due in Jan '08 thread now!!!!! HOW CLOSE MUST WE ALL BE TO HAVING OUR ICKLE BABIES NOW HEY???? (some closer than others obviously!)

i have just seen a tiny 2 week old baby and spent about half an hour cuddling her! i feel cluckier than ever!!!

Hope your butt is better today Honeyapple. I'm always doing stupid things like that when pg - I carried a HUGE bag of compost in from the car the other day (100 litres) Thought it would be ok as I lift DD all the time and she is pretty heavy, but bloody hell, that was a very heavy bag of compost! Like yours, my DP always says "you should have got me to do it" - but where are they when you need them eh?!

Bodkin · 26/04/2007 14:22

That story about your mum is incredible Greedy! The poor woman - still, bet the pain of the c-section took her mind off the two poorly ankles!

greedygreedyguzzler · 26/04/2007 17:00

my MIL did the same to her ankle last May (broke it in 3 places and had to have screws and plates put in, which is what my poor ickle mummuy did!) BUT.............my MIL is still limping and harping on about it NOW nearly a year later! it really really bugs me and i feel like yelling at her " get over it you silly woman, my mum did the same and had a c-section to recover from and a newborn and toddler to look after, so STOP feeling so sorry for yourself!!!" am i a heartless bitch or what!!!???
my mum is superwoman by the way!....which means i have a lot to live up to!!!

greedygreedyguzzler · 26/04/2007 17:08

i can spell mummy really!

fettleandminifettle · 26/04/2007 18:24

Wow Greedy - your Mum really does sound like a supermum - but I bet you are just as good!!

Can I ask you advice? I lifted DD awkwardly 2 days ago and since then I've had back pain on one side, which is running down into my buttock on the same side - also have a pain in my very low pelvis on the same side - do you think I should try to find a chiropractor near me? Should I go see GP and/or MW first? Or would physio be better? I have to say that I've been to a chiropractor in the past and haven't really like the cricking bone feeling, but the McTimoney website you sent me goes on about how gentle it should be. Wish I lived near you - funny i've never met you, but I'd trust you with my back!!

Anyway, enough of that free advice asking. Have you felt little one move yet - I keep thinking I do, but then I'm not sure - can't wait to feel it more often and reliably - wonderful reassuring feeling.

Honey, I hope you are both ok after your mishap. i'm sure everything will be ok, but it is so hard isn't? you just think I'll do this quickly, it won't matter, like me picking up DD yesterday - I've been so good until then.

Long annoying story, which I'm really grumpy about so I'm going to get it off my chest to you all. Was picking up DD from nursery and she always like to walk on the wall before we get her coat (think she's got a bit of OCD tendencies, but that's another thread's worth). Anyway, another father was standing on the wall and saw us coming towards him - he made no move at all to get off the wall to let us past, so I had to lift DD up, lift her round him and put her back on the wall and that's what upset my back - GRUMP GRUMP GRUMP!!

Anyway, ignore me!! I can't believe there is a due in Jan 08 thread - time does go quickly, but 9 months is also quite a long time really! I feel a bit bad as I've not really posted on our due in Oct thread and now feel that I don't really belong there. Silly really, but I feel happier on here. But I'm sure i'd be made very welcome on the due in Oct thread (although technically I'm due in Sept now!).

Chooster, why do you keep tempting me with peanuts - wasn't it you tempting me with picnic bars a while back and now crunchy nut cornflakes!!! hope you enjoyed them! Can you have a bowl for me?! Actually we're having take=away tonight as I can't be bothered to cook, so that will be good.

anyway, chocolate-covered DD needs a bath, so I'd better go.

take care
xxx

honeyapple · 26/04/2007 18:49

Hi,

Still feeling a bit sore and anxious today. I have an old lower spine injury that I must have aggrevated when I fell on my arse into the bath. (glamorous accident heh!! )

Fettle- sorry to hear you've hurt your back- and what a weirdly inconsiderate man that was not to move out the way- some people are just ODD.

Re- baby moving- I was sure that I had felt it, but now I am not so sure. Hoping to feel more of an obvious movement in next couple of weeks. I feel like getting one of those doppler whatsits to listen to HB- but I'd probably drive myself mad doing it every 5 seconds. When can you hear HB with a stethoscope? I think there is one lying around the house somewhere...

I'm going to do an NCT sale on sat (first time), so have been ironing some clothes of DD and DS in preparation (WOW! Honeyapple irons kids clothes!!!) Also been sorting through a load of the kids toys. DD very helpful- telling me she wants/ doesnt want. DS not here at the moment so I have just put the things I want to sell of his into a pile- hope he doesnt still want any of it. AHHAHAHHAHH, Don't you get fed up of so much clutter and CR*P in your house that is mostly generated by small people?? And guess what I am having another one to add to the chaos....

Greedy- your mum does sound a star! MIL a little less so...
