mamma I'm a non identical twin and my tiny mother (4 foot 10!) had a very straight forward birth with us both. I don't know why they try and over medicalise birth like that.
That's interesting you're DH is in the RAF, I left last month after 9 years, and my DH left last year after 11 years. What's he doing?

mogulfield · 28/07/2017 10:27

amy that must have been scary, it sounds like it's all died down now and baby will continue to cook for a good while yet Smile
fuzzy I hope it all settles down for you today

mammabear4 · 28/07/2017 11:01

mogul he's been in the RAF for 4 years, was originally in the regiment but just graduated from Cranwell as an officer in May! He's been in a holding position since then only an hour away from where we live so has been commuting but has just moved to Shawbury for Flight Ops training which is about 4 hours away. I'm a teacher and at first we were keen to keep settled where we are and just cope with DH being long distance - the twins have totally thrown a spanner in the works with that one! I won't be able to afford to put three children in nursery and go back to work so we're fully embracing mobile RAF life once my maternity leave has finished next year. My DH loves it and definitely sees it as a long term career, it's tough though as I'm sure you more than know!

utter I totally understand what you mean re due dates - that's my biggest worry as if under 36 weeks would have to be in hosp no question. Whatever happens we will be well looked after during pregnancy and the birth, please try to stay positive!! My due date is 5th Jan and I'm def expecting December babies, perhaps Christmas babies! I was thinking of working til start of December but even then I'm not sure if that's going to be doable - we'll be carrying quite a load towards the end!! If you're going down the section route when will they book you in - 37 weeks?

mammabear4 · 28/07/2017 11:04

Oh utter my consultant definitely was all for the twins being born "naturally" i.e. vaginally but under strict hospital procedures - induction at 37 weeks, consultant(s) present, labouring in theatre room, epidural given "in case", scalp clip attached to head of first twin - basically a nightmare scenario for me and complete opposite to my DD's birth!

Nice to read the RAF stories. I grew up on base - very happy existence.

Hope things do go smoothly for you Utter, and everyone else obviously.

Sorry about the panic Amy, great that everything looks good.

I'm off for my next reassurance scan in a mo, feeling horribly anxious.

Brenna24 · 28/07/2017 11:36

Good luck Life.

AmyB1986 · 28/07/2017 11:42

@AnUtterIdiot and @mammabear4 my nephews were born at 32 weeks and they are absolutely perfect and fine. Both home before their due dates. Sil has preeclampsia hence the early birth and twin 1 wassnt growing. It was only during her csection that they discovered their placentas had fused together. This caused twin 1 to not grow for 2 weeks but he is completely healthy. Ttts is not a risk in non identical twins. Low birth weight is though obviously as there isn't as much room in there as there would be in a singleton pregnancy. I don't know why the consultants are trying to put the willies up you as cases like my sil's are like 1:1000 and she was really unlucky. My cousins are non identical twins born at 39 weeks naturally and there was an episode of one born every minute where one of the ladies had her twins naturally.
Like you said mama they do give a generic twin speech.

Thanks everyone for your support. I was really scared and my poor DH was too. He is feeling awful today. I've been booked for a growth scan at 12.10 just on the way there now 😊

mamma That's a good move, regiment to ops officer! At least he can go to loads of different bases with that, and you won't get stuck at Honington!
My DH was a pilot (finished up at coningsby) now flying for a commercial airline, and I did intelligence (finished at Warddington) . It sounds like you've got a good plan to move with him, it's definitely easier! I've found the RAF officers patches good for when you're on Mat leave, lots going on and very friendly. Fingers crossed for Akrotiri!
Good luck life

Lifeofpies · 28/07/2017 12:48

It's still there!! Measuring 8+1, all looking fine. Massive relief, just want to sleep now.

Brenna24 · 28/07/2017 13:16

YAY

rider1975 · 28/07/2017 13:22

Great stuff Life - fantastic feeling
I'm going for another reassurance scan next week as I've lost symptoms and find limbo pretty intolerable

AmyB1986 · 28/07/2017 13:32

Great news @Lifeofpies

Growth scan was perfect. Measuring just right for gestation not 35 weeks like my belly is measuring. She weighs around 2lb 5oz according to the scan. She has her feet tucked into my right hip and her head is between my ribs at the min. They definitely got my measurements wrong at my 14 week scan though as she is measuring bang on my lmp not the dating scan which is 27+5 and because of this it means she's on the lower end of the percentile but following the same line of growth on graphs. No concerns and back at 34 weeks as planned for my csection appointment

Brenna24 · 28/07/2017 13:42

Fantastic news amy

Lifeofpies · 28/07/2017 13:50

Thank you Flowers

That's why I went too, Rider- hope yours is reassuring

Amy that's wonderful! Do you feel like you're on the final stretch?

AmyB1986 · 28/07/2017 14:25

@Lifeofpies I do but it's starting to drag now and I can say, even with the dramas I'm enjoying it now.

Can't wait for all you ladies in the early stages to get to this point. I'll be watching eagerly even after I've had my baby girl.
Still have my worries and doubts but I can kind of push them to one side. Feeling kicks is the best feeling in the world and so reassuring.
The early worries are so worth it 😊

mammabear4 · 28/07/2017 14:41

mogul yes he was at Honington for 3 years!! Think he was glad to leave! He's worked so hard in the past few years, very proud of him. Wow a pilot, amazing to be able to go into such a great civilian job too, it sounds like you both have done fantastically out of your RAF careers. It seemed like most of the girls on DH's IOT were going into Intelligence - obviously you need the brains for that!! Akrotiri would be amazing - he's also putting down Lossiemouth as a preference - anywhere we end up as long as we're all together will be such a good adventure. Plan is to go absolutely wherever while the little ones are still little then hoping to settle around RAF Leeming so I can get a stable job again while the children can stay settled in one school. We're both looking forward to it! Not sure what to expect from RAF accom - keep hearing "magnolia" a lot haha.

Absolutely fantastic news on the scans life and amy!!

mammabear4 · 28/07/2017 15:27

Ooh also - anyone else got a home Doppler? So many people told me not to get one for various reasons and I've completely ignored them and got mine through the post today 😬

FuzzyOwl · 28/07/2017 15:50

Just catching up.

What a scary day Amy. How are you feeling now?

Great news Life

Yes mamma but was always rubbish at using it - I either found my heartbeat, the placenta or nothing at all.

So I did another Clearblue test today and it says 3+. Phew! Am going to leave the tests alone now and arrange a booking in appointment. Hope everyone is having a good day.

Brenna24 · 28/07/2017 16:09

I won't be getting one Mama. Too many downsides. I have had enough of thinking I am pregnant when baby is dead with the MMC without the worry that what I am hearing is the placenta and not baby.

Good to hear Fuzzy.

Lifeofpies · 28/07/2017 16:14

Amy one of my favourite things on this thread is reading about people who are much later on, absolutely gives me hope and reminds me that it can happen

Smurf123 · 28/07/2017 16:38

Hi everyone.. Hope you are all well.

I wasn't going to join you yet.. I'm a little bit afraid of jinxing things.. But I know that me joining here in truth with have no impact.. And I really just feel I need to stop keeping all my thoughts inside and share them slightly.. Hope that's OK..

Does the worry ever go away? Im 6 weeks today.. Had a scan on Tues at 5 +3 could see sac, yolk sac and very small foetal pole but no hb.. Hospital said she wouldn't have expected to see any different and wasn't really sure why gp booked me in so early.. Due to go back on Wed and I'm really hoping she was right and everything will be OK..

I've had two previous mmc where growth stopped at 6w4d and 6w6d hb seen at 6weeks on the second one do getting past the next week is vital for me in my head. But im constantly worried and running to the bathroom checking for bleeding.. I think I feel different this time around but I'm worried that I've read so much about pregnancy symptoms in the past year that they are all in my head :-/ I am taking 75mg aspirin this time around prescribed by gp after I asked and she rang the hospital to check their thoughts.. And taking folic acid also. I've bought vit d but don't know if it is the right one?

Hope you all are well
