So glad things are ok [sockportal] and now you know about the placenta it'll help you judge movements better.

Sending all my best [hazandduck] xx

mammabear4 · 17/07/2017 15:54

Ahh so glad everything is fine and you heard the two heartbeats!! I had a bit of an issue with my antenatal appointments because I was booked in with the midwife on the 24th July but then got a letter through the post saying I had an appointment on the 19th at the hospital with a consultant. My hospital is about an hour's drive away and the doctors where I can see the midwives is 5 mins away so that was my first issue. I rang the hospital and said can you just tell me why I need to come to hospital as it's not a scan, I was passed through about 5 different people all saying the same thing about how I'm "so high risk" and the twins are "high risk" which I totally don't agree with - they're fine as far as they know and I'm fine, no health problems whatsoever so I don't see why my pregnancy needs to be on red alert Angry anyway I ended up speaking to a consultant who said come in for this first appointment and then we can discuss your preferences further. Unless something is wrong with me or the babies I would much rather my antenatal care be midwife led! Anyway I noticed you mentioned it was a midwife's appointment utter so was wondering if you also had to see a consultant?

sock I'm so pleased for you everything was ok! I had an anterior placenta with my DD and sure I didn't feel barely any movement til well after my 20 week scan. It is so reassuring to feel them wriggling away so I don't blame you for booking in and glad they are absolutely fine.

haz hope everything is ok with you xx

TeaAndPjs · 17/07/2017 15:58

utter argh I'm so excited I really hope they listen for the heartbeats on weds. Ahh ok I see what you mean so for you it's not just the fact it's twins, and probably sensible to be more closely monitored. I'm going to say I only want one more scan after my 20 week scan towards the end, if everything is fine at the 20 week scan that is, I've really looked into it and I can't see any reason for me to be so heavily monitored. I do get anxiety and I hate to not feel in control, and I'm really determined for it to be a natural birth - I think because I already had such an amazing experience having my DD I even more want that again, I'm hoping my very straightforward 2 hour labour with my first ever pregnancy will go in my favour!

It's so good to hear from a fellow twin mum, we must keep checking in! I was at Flamingo Land a week ago with my DD and saw a lady with a roughly 18 month old daughter and triplets! TRIPLETS! 4 under 2 😱! I now feel my 3 under 4 may be slightly more manageable - I would have loved to have stopped her and ask how she copes without sounding totally weird and patronising

Glad to hear all is well Sock.

Also glad Amy's tummy is better.

Handholding for Haz now.

My midwife has referred me into the 'red' stream for high risk pregnancies even though mine isn't twins (as far as we know) simply because I have had several previous miscarriages. If I get past a certain point I can go back to 'green' and start seeing the midwife again.

theotherendofthesockportal · 17/07/2017 17:55

Any news @Hazandduck?

EmFe · 17/07/2017 18:34

Sock so glad to hear everything ok

Haz hope all ok too

Willow re the tan - maybe it's just the colour discharge is? I guess we don't normally look at it but now examine everything! So nerve wracking

peachgreen · 17/07/2017 19:33

Thinking of you @Hazandduck.

TheLegendOfBeans · 17/07/2017 19:44

Haz I'm rooting for you, please let us know how you get on love xx

Brenna24 · 17/07/2017 20:34

Any news Haz?

NoParticularPattern · 17/07/2017 21:03

Have had a catch up!!

Pleased to hear all was ok sock and I'm sending big hugs to haz and hoping all is just fine.

I've just been sick for the first time in weeks! It turns out that a diet entirely consisting of wedding cake is not to junior's liking!! Must eat more vegetables hah!

JCleRoux · 17/07/2017 22:07

Had lots of catching up to do!

@Hazandduck hope you're ok and here for a hand hold. Please let us know if you and the baby are ok.

Welcome @FuzzyOwl and @EmFe. How far along are you now?

What a relief @theotherendofthesockportal! So good you went with your instinct and went to check.

Congrats on being a Mrs @NoParticularPattern! Pity junior is not liking the wedding cake much Grin

mogulfield · 17/07/2017 22:41

Haz I hope you're ok, sending good thoughts your way Smile
pattern congrats on your wedding, I haven't had my scan yet but by dates I'm due 3 days after you! Haven't even had the letter through for the scan yet.

Feeling paranoid today as symptoms are less again, I don't know if it's because I've been busy though? Does anyone else find that if they've got some down time they focus on the sickness/tiredness more?

Hazandduck · 18/07/2017 03:16

Thank you everyone so much for your lovely messages and handholds, my phone died while I was at the hospital!

Everything is all ok, I had a cervix exam (smear type thing) which is horrible! But they confirmed my cervix is closed and long, phew! They said my urine showed no infection and they think it is just normal pregnancy discharge, they took a swab as I may have a bit of thrush but they aren't worried. They were all so lovely and said I can call them any time and come in and get checked if I am worried!

We heard the heartbeat and the midwife felt baby kicking and said baby sounds perfectly happy and healthy in there, phew! I said to my OH I have changed my mind and I think it is a girl now as I am such an emotional mess lol, and the midwife smiled after hearing the heartbeat and said "I'm guessing girl too!"

Again, thank you so much for the messages and sorry it has taken me ages to update, much love to you all xx

Brenna24 · 18/07/2017 05:56

That is great news Haz.

Reassurance scan day for us today. Hopefully we will be 9 weeks or just over with a healthy heartbeat. I got the date of my 12 week scan yesterday and it is next friday. I am only just going to be 10 weeks and a few days to 11 weeks then. If baby is still alive at our scan today I am going to call them and see if they will move it a couple of weeks later as I really want to know I have made it out of the first trimester.

mogulfield · 18/07/2017 07:11

haz Fantastic news on your little girl Wink

brenna good luck with your scan today, everything crossed.
I'm quite glad I've not had my letter through yet for similar reasons to you, my dates say I'm 11+2, but I know my body and when I ovulate and I think I'm closer to 9-10 at the mo.
I don't want to go and get stressed baby is smaller than expected!

SayItIsntSo1 · 18/07/2017 07:19

Haz I exhaled something I didn't realise I was holding reading your post. I'm so glad everything was ok.

@Brenna24, I have everything crossed for you. It broke my heart a little the way you said if the baby is 'still alive', I think we've all shared that sentiment over our individual milestones. You've done amazingly to hold out this long for a scan.

I have just felt very unwell on the train in to the office. I couldn't tell if I was going to pass out or have a panic attack but it's left me a bit shaken. I will be finishing my meetings at 10 and heading home straight after. Probably should have turned around rather than making my connecting train, early mornings have never agreed with me but I'm so used to 'getting on with it' normally.

peachgreen · 18/07/2017 08:09

Oh @Hazandduck I'm so relieved. Thank goodness all is okay with your little one.

Sorry you're feeling so unwell @SayItIsntSo1 - definitely sounds like you should head home. I'm off work today myself. After a weekend almost free of sickness (13+1 today) I had the most awful sickness yesterday, the worst yet, and spent all night weeping an agony with a throbbing headache that paracetamol just wouldn't touch. Sickness is back again with a vengeance this morning. A bit gutted as I thought I was maybe starting to be in the clear!

DancingUnicorn · 18/07/2017 08:40

Brilliant news haz. So relieved for you.

Hope everything is ok Brenna.

Sorry about the return of the sickness peach. Definitely sounds like a good plan to have the day at home trying to recover and make it go away. Hope it eases for you.

Sorry you're feeling so rough say. Take it easy, and I hope you get home ok after your meeting.

AmyB1986 · 18/07/2017 09:25

@Hazandduck so pleased everything is ok!

@Brenna24 good luck with your scan

Hope everyone else is ok too.

TeaAndPjs · 18/07/2017 09:26

hazand so glad to hear all is ok :)

brenna good luck today ♡

WillowCloud · 18/07/2017 09:49

Oh that is good news Haz - what a relief for you!

Good luck with the scan Brenna

Also feeling paranoid about symptoms Mogulfield (love your name, hate mogulfields though!)....it is easy to miss them when you're busy so maybe give yourself a little rest.

I've got the opposite problem.....in a very dull job with plenty of time to drive myself bonkers about whether I'm feeling better or worse. The tan discharge is now darker, more browny, which is a normal sign that AF is on it's way for me and I had a little blood when I wiped last night....plus i've never had any spotting with my previous babies, only in the ones that didn't work out. Sickness has abated a bit today too, and the tiredness, so I think I know how this is going to go...
