I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk

If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is great: 024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!scenario

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.

So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Water is disgusting to me too - haven't deal it for 7 weeks Shock

My 9 day vomit free streak was just ruined with a spectacular vomit of the macoroni cheese I had for tea Angry anything dairy heavy always seems to send my stomach into overdrive - ice cream, frapuccino with cream, cheesy dishes etc I need to learn my lesson and just avoid them - they are the vilest tasting on the way back up too Sad

DeadDoorpost · 29/06/2017 22:13

floss I'm exactly the same with tomato based foods. If it's with mince then it's not so bad but on pizza or pasta etc it's game over for me. And with cheese.. I can't have too much but milk is ok as long as it's not loads. I learned the hard way when I threw cauliflower cheese up.. sympathise with you on the Mac and cheese front. Not nice.

LucindaE · 29/06/2017 22:43

Natsku and PurpleElephant18 Wecome. Sorry you are suffering. I am so glad you have both got meds now. Natsku I don't actually know that drug - is it a brand name? It is awful that neither of you got medication or sympathy in your last pregnancies. Natsku You were in hospital 3 weeks, you say; was that in connection with the sickness? It certainly sounds as if you both have Hypermesis. As veterans, I hardly need ask if you both have kesostix and don't need to recommend ice lollies, flat full sugar coke, the juice and fruit of tinned fruit etc.
Hollyhop Sorry to hear of failed turn. That does sound painful.
weasledee Forceps deliveries are no fun at all.
DeadDoorPost What a lovely toy dinosaur.
Thingymaboob I am glad you had a happy scan
Great advice from Lemondro Oklahoma and pippanippa. pippanippa It seems unfair as some people get prescribed stronger meds without hospitalisation. Thank goodness they no longer have that policy of ' wait until hospitalisation before prescribing meds', now realizing that the neurological vomiting pattern can be hard to break.
flossyfloss and DeadDoorPost Much sympathy over pasta and cheese vomits...Envy
Waves to Melleebacca and everyone. Watch me cross post.

Glad you're feeling a bit better Mellee

Funny you say that about pasta and pizza Door. Pizza is my safe food. It's so weird. Even in my worst period, pizza is the one food I have never thrown up. Which is probably why I haven't lost much weight despite all the vomiting Hmm

Lemondrop99 · 29/06/2017 23:00

So I just google Doxylamine as I haven't heard of it. The trade name is Unisom, which I think I have heard mention of. It's a sedative antihistamine, so I guess it's similar to cyclizine or promethazine. Hope the drug help you Natsku, not great having to go in for a drip Sad

Purple, what medication has your GP prescribed?

pippanippa · 30/06/2017 07:50

Sorry all, I need a rant. I am so tired of this, it's day 3 of a bad streak. Getting gradually worse and now it seems absolutely all of the food I try is coming back up, as well as most of the drink. It's not even lasting 10 minutes, and to add insult to injury the vomiting sessions are lasting forever. I've hurt my neck from all of the throwing up so now every vomit is painful. I feel like I never want to eat anything again, all my safe foods have failed me!!! Sorry, I just needed to complain!!

Hollyhop17 · 30/06/2017 07:57

Really sorry to hear this Pippa. Can you get to your dr today and insist on going in for fluids? Failing that, can you just go to a&e? 3 days of feeling really bad and keeping nothing down is so grim. A little drip time, would probably allow you to 'reset' a little bit. Hugs, you are doing really well.

Pizza is one of my worst offenders Lemon! Only had it 3 times during pregnancy, has come back up, violently, each time. Pasta is pretty safe though. CC was pretty good. I am gutted not to see the original cast and I thought Ginny was terrible but the special effects are amazing and I got better seats due to being heavily pregnant so could be worse!

Glad to have an appt with my perinatal team this morning to try and get my head round c section. Hoping that sets me up for a better day, I am completely overwhelmed at the moment...

I hope everyone has a good day. Waves.

Lemondrop99 · 30/06/2017 08:56

Oh pippa, that sounds awful Sad I really hope it passes soon. Keep a close eye on your ketones if you're struggling that much to keep fluid down, you might need to go in for a drip.

Wooooo to getting better seats Holly. Are you back fit Part 2 tonight? I think I preferred Part 2. I must say, I didn't think much of the adult characters in general. Harry was too angsty like OotP all over again! Ron was dumbed down to a clown and seemed to be acting more like Fred/George, Ginny was bland. Hermione was alright but she'd never have been stupid enough to keep a time turner like that, especially against the rules! But I was soooooooo in love with Scorpius (I hope the new guy is as good) and Albus was pretty good too. Hope the appointment today puts your mind at rest a bit.

After a rubbish Wednesday, I didn't feel too bad yesterday and got through choir without vomiting! So glad it's Friday. All motivation for my work has gone with the redundancy consultation etc. I only have 6 weeks left till I can start my pre-maternity annual leave. I have to apply for my job competitively via an interview, they've offered me a phone interview or written submission due to the HG, although I'm not sure what option would be best. I don't want anything to count against me.

Lemondrop99 · 30/06/2017 10:04

I've woken up in a terrible mood today Hmm I have no idea why, so I'm guessing it must be hormones. It's like PMT x 10000000. I feel like the tiniest thing would make me snap and yell at someone today. I've not really had problems with hormones so far (aside from the odd random irrational sobbing fit!). Seriously, I could just growl at anyone stupid enough to talk to me today. Anyone else experienced this?

purpleelephant28 · 30/06/2017 10:19

Lemondrop - I've been prescribed cyclizine. Just picked it up and taken my first dose. Fingers crossed!

purpleelephant28 · 30/06/2017 10:23

Lemondrop - doesn't sound nice! Hope the mood passes. I've always found pregnancy chills me out, my normal monthly moods are awful though.

OnNaturesCourse · 30/06/2017 10:35

Lemon, is it near where you'd normally have PMT? I've read people still get effected a little.

I've woke up a bag of nerves, after my first decent sleep in a week. Scan today and, like always, Im petrified. DP was his usual confused self last night when I got over emotional about it... "You don't have any reason to suspect anythings wrong so why worry? You'll only make yourself sick" 😣 he's right but, it doesn't help.

LucindaE · 30/06/2017 10:42

pippasnippa You poor thing - what meds do they have you on? Are you keeping any liquids down? How are those ketones measuring?
purple Cyclizine has really helped a lot of women on here, though it does make them sleepy at first.

Natsku I never heard of anyone who just had bad pregnancy sickness being admitted for fluids, so you are certainly one of the Noble Order of Hyperemesis Sufferers. Are you UK based as I am intrigued about never hearing of that drug? My ignorance is limitless and it may be a newer one.
Lemondrop I am so sorry to hear that. As far as I was concerned, being pregnant calmed my shall we say, at times excitable nature, but I did get whiny at times, and I didn't suffer for very long at all. I expect its just the whole thing getting you down. It's like a prison sentence, with no time off for good behaviour. Might as well go in for some bad behaviour.
Hollyhop I am glad you had a nice outing. I do hope the painful stomach has worn off? That sounds awful, that turning. On cooked cheese and pasta - after a Dreadful Experience with pasta bake which involved spattering a wardrobe I was running by, I avoided both for the duration.
I hope everyone else isn't too bad today.

I'm in Finland LucindaE I looked up common treatments for pregnancy sickness and saw that Doxylamine is commonly used (usually known as Unisom - used for a sleep aid as it is really fucking sedating which is great because my sleep has been shit too!) so just told the doctor that I wanted that and the B6 and thankfully he said yes (after a quick check that the Finnish health authorities deem it safe for pregnancy). Am really lucky with my doctor this time (in Finland we have midwives for most check ups but also an OB being in charge overall and this time I've got the OB plus a trainee OB who used to be my psychiatrist so seems to be pretty pro-medication and knows my medication history which is extra helpful). No ketones in my urine according to A&E so wasn't too dehydrated, they just wanted to be on the safe side but it seems I have a urine infection I wasn't even aware of.

I wasn't in the hospital for sickness last time, but for kidney problems, but the strong painkillers they had me on brought back the sickness quite bad but in the hospital they were happy to give me IV anti-sickness meds whenever I asked, plus being on a drip constantly for three weeks helped a lot.

So far so good with the Doxylamine - eating breakfast and feeling ok and slept about twelve hours last night!

Tomatoes are my safe food right now, and pretty much all I want to eat so having Spanish tomato toast for breakfast and most likely lunch and dinner too! And fruit - with DD I ate about a kilo of plums a day and starting to get the craving again.

Natsku · 30/06/2017 11:39

They didn't give me ondasetron too Oklahoma, wish they had as I actually felt worse by the end of the drip, probably because I first felt better, which made me feel hungry, but I didn't have anything to eat and was stuck there for hours so much worse by the end so puked everywhere just before I left.

Lemondrop99 · 30/06/2017 11:39

Thanks all. Generally, I have been quite calm through the pregnancy, which is why today's mood surprised me so much. Let's hope it's a one off! I've got to 27 weeks without too many hormonal episodes so let's hope it stays that way....

Hope the cyclizine helps you Purple. If not, remember there are other things you can try so don't soldier on too long if it's not helping you.

Thinking of you today Nature. It's nerve wracking but will almost certainly be fine. Let us know how you get on.

Natsku · 30/06/2017 11:50

Good luck with your scan today Nature

DeadDoorpost · 30/06/2017 12:32

OK so I ended up dreaming last night about giving birth to my baby (turns out it was a girl-- is this a vision into what we're having?! lol) and it was really odd coz I had no pain and the baby just came out all fine onto the floor because obvs it's a dream and it didn't hurt her. The weird thing about it though was just how I actually felt it coming out ~down there~ and then all the rest of the waters etc. Actually woke up thinking I'd wet myself but no.

So lifelike. So odd.

NonStopDisco · 30/06/2017 12:49

DeadDoorPost I'm having the weird dreams as well, I gave birth to a tiny 14cm long baby last week in my parents living room, perfectly fine, no fluids or anything, and then breastfed the baby and actually felt it in the nipple.
I think I felt it in the nipple because I'd hit it on the corner of a door on a bathroom sprint earlier in the day, and it killed. Boobs have got so big I'm no longer sure where they are in relation to the rest of me!

Lemondrop99 · 30/06/2017 13:04

I've had several vivid baby dreams. Some nice, some not so much. But I remember having a dream about labour and I was SOOOO gutted when I woke up and realised that I hadn't actually given birth and still had to deal with labour 😭

HaichM · 30/06/2017 13:42

Lemon: I've had that mood since being pregnant as well as the weepies and wanting to avoid all people and just be by myself. Thankfully not all that often.

Holly: I'm really sorry the turning didn't work and you had horrible nausea and stomach ache thanks to not eating. I hope the consultant can answer all your questions and you can get your positive mind set back. We believe in you. You can do this. I'm glad you went to CC too and hope you enjoy part 2.

Sorry I've not been on much. 3rd trimester fatigue has hit me like a tonne of bricks the last few days. I've also been having braxton hicks, back pain or just everything feeling tight since last night so I dread what my mood will be like later if they continue as the hicks have made me extra nauseous too

DeadDoorpost · 30/06/2017 13:48

@NonStopDisco My boobs haven't changed at all. They're occasionally a little bit sore but other than that they're remained the same size, even with the weightloss. I'm hoping they don't get bigger coz I can't deal with anything bigger than an E cup and I defo don't want to get a big as my mum and nan

Oklahoma · 30/06/2017 14:31

Natsku that's just like me! I basically survive off fruit as it's all my body seems to want. Everyone else swears by carbs so I'm thrilled I'm not the only one!

Natsku · 30/06/2017 14:34

At least we're definitely getting all the vitamins we need Oklahoma! I was living on fruit and salad when pregnant with DD up until the last month when I ate everything I could see and got massive!
