Telling OH you're pregnant - how did you do it?

I was going through some threads on here and something reminded me of the time I found out I was pregnant and how I called my husband at work to tell him. He was at a meeting so whispered 'that's nice' and said he'd call me back. 🙄

That got me wondering. How did you all do it? Did any of you go all out and prepare an elaborate surprise announcement?

Nah I just told him I was doing a test, did the test, told him it was positive. I don't have much flare for the dramatic.

Had been feeling rough for a few days. Did a test. Shoved it in front of him for him to tell me the result.

Piratesandpants · 15/06/2017 11:56

We watched the test result come through together. For me personally that shared moment was preferable to a big ramatazz designed to be shared on social media Grin

joannegrady90 · 15/06/2017 11:59

Pissed on the stick, handed it to him whilst I washed my hands.

He told me it was positive.

Voila

I went to work (started at 5) and told him I would do a test on the way. He said he would answer the phone when I rang... he didn't. After about 8 missed calls (i was excited) I gave up ringing and text him. He then rang and was happy about it.

I'm very romantic so I sent him a text.

First pregnancy I had ordered a little baby grow which I wrapped and gave to dh. Unfortunately that pregnancy ended in miscarriage.

With this pregnancy (40+2) I didn't tell dh for a while as I was worried over a repeated heartbreak, he worked it out when I vomited into the clean washing basket while I was getting ready for work.

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 15/06/2017 12:12

We hadn't been together very long (just a couple of months) Blush so I was worried about telling him. I went to his house after work, he had made shepherds pie and while I was eating my dinner I just came out with it. He was surprised but said he would support me whatever I chose. My previous partner had been abusive and when I got pregnant whilst on the pill he beat me, so I was very nervous. Luckily DH is a whole different beast.

We always reminisce about that day whenever we have shepherds pie now.

I sent him on a scavenger hunt of romantic places we have visited, ending in a field of beautiful flowers right at sunset, with specially commissioned fireworks spelling out the letters "B A B Y." It was amazing, topped only by our fantastic gender reveal party.

No seriously, I just walked out of the loo and told him.

Superman Flowers Hope you and wee one are doing well and he/she makes an appearance soon.

I was a few days late and feeling weird. DH works from home on a Wednesday so I decided to test then. I came out of the toilet and just told him v quietly that it was positive. Then we had a big hug. No jumping for joy, probably quite a lot of anxiety, but lots of hope too. I'm 22+2 today Smile

"Have a look at this, I think it's positive" thrilling. That was number 2. Number 1 was "erm look at this!"

GhostPower · 15/06/2017 12:56

First 2 times DH read the results first and told me. 3rd time I told him over the phone. I was too excited to wait for him to return home!

SeatOfMyPants · 15/06/2017 13:16

Shouted down from upstairs loo.

Response overwhelming: "oh".

Erinys · 15/06/2017 13:26

DH told me I was pregnant as I made pathetic retching noises in the corner.

Took a test to prove him wrong and that in fact I had horrible food poisoning only to discover he was right. He's still smug about it.

Germ1360 · 15/06/2017 13:27

Me: (coming out of bathroom, pregnancy test behind my back) "I've got an early xmas present for you..."
DH: "Urgh, did it come from the toilet?"
Me: "Yeah it kind of did..."

DH was overjoyed!

CatRash · 15/06/2017 13:35

Lol Germ!!

I peed on a stick the day before but it was really faint so decided I'd do another the following morning to check. I hardly slept and it wasn't any darker the following morning but definitely still a positive.

So I shoved it at him while he was brushing his teeth. Don't think he really knew what he was looking for and garbled something at me while still brushing his teeth.

OnNaturesCourse · 15/06/2017 13:37

Peed on the stick.
Ran through to mancave where he was gaming and shoved it in his hands.
He then dropped it when he realised what it was and that I'd peed on it 😱😂
