I just got my BFP on the 9th June, and I'm calculated due 18th Feb 2018. Anyone else with similar dates out there who'd like to share the ride?
Current symptoms are tender, larger boobs and mild, intermittent 'cramps" In my left abdomen (more like a poke than a cramp!).

Hello EricaSeas. I'm trying to manage one 2 year old and sickness - I don't think I could cope with two and sickness!! I'm 12 weeks this weekend but felt sick until at least week 16 last time - can't wait for it to get better!

EricaSeas · 09/08/2017 14:48

Hi *Lorelai"! Sorry to hear you've been feeling so rubbish. To be fair mine is dying off now, I mostly just feel nauseous and I haven't actually been sick in more than a week. I was the same with DTS and felt ok by around 14 weeks. I hope yours hurries up and gets better for you! Is your LO a boy or girl?

Has anyone had any problems with insomnia so far?

LorelaiVictoriaGilmore · 09/08/2017 16:10

I have a boy. Are your twins boys or girls?

I've had insomnia, for sure. Some nights are better than others. I think it's hormonal, but I'm also needing to get up to pee in the night a lot!

EricaSeas · 09/08/2017 17:01

They're girls. I kind of think this LO will be a girl too, but who knows. Have you got any guesses for yours?

It's a nightmare eh? I've had insomnia since my first pregnancy but it mostly settled into a rhythm of getting off to sleep fine then waking around 4am unable to get back to sleep. That's been broadly manageable as long as I get to bed at a reasonable time.

Now I think I'm averaging 2-3 hours a night and its starting to take a toll. I work 4 days a week so DTs are in nursery 3 days a week and with DM 1 day but the evenings are relentless. I'm managing to get through work ok but I'm at the end of my tether by the time I get home to poor DTs and DH.

Hi all, just jumping on here as had my dating scan today and told I'm due on 16th February - originally thought my EDD was 21st Feb.

Baby was asleep during the scan this morning, so no waves for me, but nice to see the heart beating away. I had the combined test today too - my NT measurement was 2.7mm and I've been a bit worried since that it's maybe a bit high? Did anyone else have a similar measurement?

cakesandphotos · 17/08/2017 07:19

How is everyone doing? I finally have my growth scan tomorrow and I can't wait to start telling people!

Cat2991 · 18/08/2017 08:39

Hi all!

Joining in! Due 17th of Feb with first! It's still not sunk in!!

hfin1992 · 18/08/2017 10:54

Hi @Cat2991 firstly congratulations, I'm due on the 15th also with my first :) how have things been going so far?? Smile

Cat2991 · 18/08/2017 10:59

@hfin1992 so far it's been poop! Really bad nausea and sickness! We recently moved into our first home so being tired and constantly out of breath has not made it easy! Other half now refers to me as darth Vader! He thought I was just being lazy at first but after a monumental tantrum he now knows otherwise!

How about you?

cakesandphotos · 18/08/2017 11:17

@Cat2991 that's rubbish! Hopefully it should get better now! I'm due 16th of February which is better than the original date of my birthday Smile

MarmiteAndPB · 18/08/2017 12:09

Hi @Cat2991 sorry you've been having a tough time of it. I'm just coming into 15 weeks now and morning sickness finally tailed off last week. It was absolutely awful though for so long! Glad your OH has seen the light and hopefully he's being more supportive now.

I did eventually go to the GP who prescribed some medicine for me. It seemed to make a world of difference, although now I'm not sure if I was starting to pull through the worst of it in any case. But if it's been horrible for a while it might be worth considering asking your GP for help.

MarmiteAndPB · 18/08/2017 12:15

I have a question for those who have some experience - is a post-natal NCT class worth it?

I've had NCT recommended by various people and I've signed up for their antenatal course, but that automatically reserves you a spot on their post-natal "Baby Massage" course as well. I'm not sure whether it's worth booking it or if I should just let the reservation slide?

It's my first baby and I don't know anyone in our area, as we live outside London and commute in. All our friends are scattered, although my in-laws are a 20 minute drive away. Not sure if that makes a difference, but I thought that maybe even if the course isn't my cup of tea it would at least be a good way of meeting people?

LorelaiVictoriaGilmore · 18/08/2017 13:58

I'm not the best person to ask about NCT as I didn't get to do it with my first baby as he was premature - my waters broke on the same day as my first class!!

But I was rather jealous during maternity leave of all the mums going around with a nice ready-made set of NCT friends. I made friends too but had to try much harder. We live outside London and commute in too with very scattered friends and family. I am definitely doing NCT this time around!

MarmiteAndPB · 18/08/2017 14:29

Wow! That's quite a dramatic reason for skipping the class! Grin

Thanks, the social aspect does sound particularly appealing to me. I think that I'll sign up for the post-natal as well. I have a feeling that it will be very easy to feel isolated given where we live and DH's work hours.

MarmiteAndPB · 30/08/2017 16:09

Ugh! I thought I was over the horrible morning sickness part (at 17 weeks now) but have thrown up twice today. WHY??

Is this normal pregnancy stuff, or could it be something unrelated like food poisoning? I don't feel bad in any other ways, just the vomiting Sad

reallyorange · 30/08/2017 18:12

have you got a cold or phlegmy throat? That's what is making me throw up

MarmiteAndPB · 31/08/2017 09:08

Sorry you're feeling rough too!

No, nothing like ordinary illness symptoms. Just very tired (as I have been since the start) and a resurgence of vomiting. Fingers crossed it was a bad day and will settle down again now. I'm reluctant to go back on the medicine unless it gets very bad again.

In more cheerful news, we went looking at pushchairs at the weekend. So much choice! It was a bit intimidating. But nice to do something pro-active that got DH involved in the planning a bit.

cakesandphotos · 31/08/2017 09:21

We were slightly shocked at the price of prams when we went! Having been a nanny I have a very clear idea of what I want in a pram and they are not cheap! Can we buy the baby it's own car instead…?

Sah2241 · 31/08/2017 11:20

Isn't the price of prams outrageous! Although a shiny new one would be fab, I'm starting to think that gumtree is the answer!

cakesandphotos · 31/08/2017 11:38

We're looking at the mothercare one. Basically identical to the branded bugaboos and what have you. Car seat included for £250. It's also super light and easy to fold up and down which is a must for me with my arthritis. Can't justify £900 after seeing that! I'll try and find a link

Sah2241 · 31/08/2017 14:00

My SIL had that one. Theirs did break after about 9 months, but they replaced it with a brand new one without any fuss and that one has been totally fine.

MarmiteAndPB · 31/08/2017 15:25

I couldn't believe the prices! And we were definitely drawn to the £800 ones Blush

But I'm thinking that we can wait until the Christmas sales, and if that still doesn't make them reasonable then we'll try second hand. I'm not feeling particularly precious about having a brand new one and it really does seem outrageously expensive.

That mothercare one looks nice, but what is the advantage of a three-wheel set up rather than a four-wheel set up? Is it better for off road?

cakesandphotos · 31/08/2017 15:39

I'm not sure to be honest, I think the 3 wheelers are more common but no idea if they're better. With the mothercare pram you can choose either a 3 or 4 wheel. I'm tempted to buy it now because they have the limited edition one in the sale and it has giraffes printed on it! I love giraffes! Smile Not sure if it would be daft to buy it at 16 weeks pregnant though…

reallyorange · 31/08/2017 19:07

Check local Facebook selling sites- there's one here specifically for baby stuff for local postcodes. Prams/ pushchairs are always going on there for good prices. I worked out which I wanted and find it on gumtree for 1/3 the price and it's been brilliant.
