I'm 39+2 and eagerly awaiting the arrival of DC2.

Who else is analyzing ever little twinge and cramp??

DD was born 39+5. I was checked over yesterday due to a very tender, sore bump (everything fine) and baby wasn't yet engaged.

Are you all prepared??

teenybean · 15/06/2017 10:00

Can I join? I'm 39+2, ds came at 39+6 & dd came at 38+1, so thought this one might be here by now! I'm getting so bloody fed up! 😭

OhDearToby · 15/06/2017 10:32

Hi teeny!

Both mine have come at 40+4 but for some reason I was sure this one would be early. Not looking likely seeing as I'm due on Saturday and don't feel like it's happening anytime soon. Maybe it's just wishful thinking because the baby is massive (according to growth scan). The longer it's in the bigger it gets 😣

WizardLizard · 15/06/2017 10:37

Thank you for all your kind words! Having hours of skin to skin cuddles and can't stop sniffing his head!

SleepForTheWeek · 15/06/2017 20:44

How is everyone this evening??

Still no action here. My BH are really getting intense though, and I think baby has gone slightly lower down as I'm getting occasional shooting pains low down in my pelvis.

Congratulations Wizard! Enjoy 😊 I am slightly jealous! I can't wait to smell baby skin. Glad to hear labour went well for you.

Had my growth scan today, baby has grown slightly so they are not so worried. Baby now approx 3200g big relief. So if stays put for another then week at least might have the same weight as first DS. I am happy with that. Dr has said give him a ring if I haven't gone on or before due date and we will look at some options If I am not coping.

Sleep, sounds slightly promising! Is it getting more difficult to bend forward? I had my last pregnancy fitness class tonight. So glad I went but knackered now. I found it difficult to bend forward. Midwives had a feel and says baby is very, very low.

I didn't have to wait around for DS as waters broke at 38 weeks, 3 days before a scheduled CS due to breech lie and he had turned by himself! I feel like a child waiting for Christmas!

How is everyone else tonight? Any twinges?

RosePrincess87 · 15/06/2017 22:59

Must full day of painful Braxton Hicks again. Went to midwife appointment today and she said that consultant may give me a sweep tomorrow if I plead. She said turn on the water works if you have to. Told her I don't need to turn them on been up all night crying on my living room floor.

She said head is very low so it could be any day.

Hope everyone else is having a nicer time.

Mustbeinsane1984 · 15/06/2017 23:22

Hugs for you Rose, I thought Braxton hicks were supposed to not be sore?? 😲 Did she not check if you were dialated? How many weeks are you? Yes maybe the consultant will be a bit more sympathetic tomorrow.

I have had loads of tightenings and a few times where I have had contraction pains but they disappear after a few hours - a bit start stop.

I won't be checked again until 40 + 2 and then prob booked for induction. Baby was measuring on the small side so I'm quite happy for it to grow just a little. Not sure how I will cope mentally and physically by then. 😭

Hubby hoping baby arrives of Father's Day.

RosePrincess87 · 15/06/2017 23:29

Must I said this to the midwife in hospital and she said that just because they shouldn't hurt doesn't mean they won't. Midwife couldn't touch me until 41 weeks. She said they do see this occasionally. She said I have a sensitive uterus, even though I had none of this with DC1. She said consultant can do much more for me than she can so I'd be better off seeing him.

SleepForTheWeek · 15/06/2017 23:40

Rose I've also been told I have a 'irritable' uterus. It contracts whenever the MW having a feel or if I'm bouncing on the ball or have gone upstairs to quickly etc.

The ones I've been getting tonight are different though - much more intense but still not sore.

I'm hoping to wake up in a few hours with rhythmic contractions - not too much to ask for is it?? I don't know how many times I've said 'yes, I'm still here' to people while out and about over the last few days!

Mustbeinsane1984 · 15/06/2017 23:53

That's rubbish Rose. Have they said to take any pain relief? Surely after 37-39 weeks they must be able to do something. Good luck for tomorrow then and let us know how it goes.

Good luck sleep! Hope something happens really soon for you! Not
Long took my clexane as completely forgot earlier so I am hoping if things happen tonight it's not so quick.

LadyNymeriaGhost · 16/06/2017 06:49

I hope everyone had a good night. Hopefully a productive one!
DD woke up for the day at 3.30am, and when I finally gave up and came downstairs with her at 5.45 a cup fell out of the cupboard and smashed my phone screen. So it's looking like one of those days! 40+8 today.

SleepForTheWeek · 16/06/2017 07:46

Oh jeez lady not the best start!! DD came in with us around 3am and tossed and turned for about an hour before she fell back asleep.

I actually think I've lost some of my waters - either that or I leaked some pee over night 😂. There was a little when I woke in mid of the night and have put a sanitary pad on so hard to tell if much else

OP posts:
RosePrincess87 · 16/06/2017 08:23

Sleep it's really strange, I didn't have this with DD1. It's like my body is ready but baby isn't. That's exactly how I feel. Keep thinking "this is it" but it never materialises
Hopefully the 'real thing' will feel different. Hopefully the end is near for both of us.

Must She said paracetamol (useless stuff) and try the Tens machine. She said that as I'm over 38 weeks they may well give me a sweep today.

DD also woke up in the middle of the night asking to play! Must be something in the air!

WizardLizard · 16/06/2017 10:15

Sending positive labour vibes to you all.

I'm currently at the 'MY NIPPLES ARE GOING TO BE DESTROYED IF HE DOESN'T SLOW DOWN' stage. I forgot how sore establishing bf can be...

SleepForTheWeek · 16/06/2017 10:27

Oh wizard I can't wait haha!! DD would t bloody latch on so I used nipple shields for about 6 weeks so thankfully missed the sore nipple stage!

Is your milk in yet? That was the most painful for me, when they were as hard as rocks!

OP posts:
LadyNymeriaGhost · 16/06/2017 11:25

Don't try cabbage leaves to calm them down though! Doesn't work and the whole house stank of milky cabbage for weeks!

Mustbeinsane1984 · 16/06/2017 11:39

I hope to hear some good news from all you ladies today! My baby is def not shifting any time soon ☹️

Sleep have you spoke to your midwife?
Rose good luck with the consultant today will be think of you.
Lady I feel your pain I was relegated to DS bed last night as he came to our bed at 2 and decided to nest at my feet.

Aww lovely wizard I had to use nipple shields for a bit with DS helped loads. I'm producing enough milk at the moment to feed an army so I hope that side of things goes ok when baby arrives.

RosePrincess87 · 16/06/2017 11:44

Consultant appointment was an absolute waste of time. He has written in my notes that I can have a sweep at 40 weeks instead of 41. They absolutely will not induce me before 42 weeks! Guess DH will have to take his paternity leave early and miss bonding with DD2 as I don't know if I can cope with contracting for the next 2-4 weeks and look after DD1.

WizardLizard · 16/06/2017 11:50

sleep I had two placenta smoothies yesterday and my milk is now in! Not too uncomfortable either. I used nipple shields last time too but managing so far without.

Currently sat with a sleeping baby on my chest and eating ALL THE BRIE AND SALAMI!

user1496604328 · 16/06/2017 11:58

RosePrincess879 how far are you? And can I ask why you don't want to be induced?

RosePrincess87 · 16/06/2017 13:25

User they initially wanted to induce me before 37 weeks as baby is small. I've been closely monitored all the way through and there are no other issues so I didn't think that inducing her was in her best interest. Every health care professional agreed with me, including senior consultants (or what ever they're called).

I had a lovely birthday with DD1. It was fast, no pain relief and no after care. I feel that being induced may hinder this happening again. I know nothing is a guarantee. I don't think anyone would want to force their baby out unless there was a valid reason. I don't believe that an induced birth is any less of a birth than a non-induced birth. I think every woman that gives birth is amazing and no one should feel that their birth choice or feeding choice is wrong. Induction (for no valid reason) is not for me.

I would have very much liked a sweep today though. I was against having a sweep until these contractions started. I think I'm just mentally and physically exhausted and I want my body back.

RosePrincess87 · 16/06/2017 13:26

I'm 38 weeks

RosePrincess87 · 16/06/2017 13:27

Wizard what's a placenta smoothie? Too afraid to Google lol!

user1496604328 · 16/06/2017 13:33

RosePrincess87 Ahh I see. I was induced with my second due to being over my due date and also my instincts told me baby was ready to be born. I just had one gel then few hours later contractions started and I had a really quick easy birth. Alot easier, quicker and less painful than first dc.
Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy.

RosePrincess87 · 16/06/2017 13:49

User I think every mother does what's best for their baby when they're pregnant. I have a few friends that were induced and they did what was right for their baby at the time and I totally respect that. I loved my first birth and in my head this one will be the same. Famous last words and all that.

After going through pregnancy, birth and breast feeding I have such respect for new mothers (1st timers and beyond) and I could never tell them that their choices were wrong.

If I do end up being induced I hope I have a positive experience like you did.
