how exciting for the scan @AmandaP86x how far along will you be then? i had a friend tell me the early cans are "pointless and a waste of money" (i bought 1 privately you jammy sod). but honestly, see when i saw that heart beat, wow! best £40 i ever spent!

(ps, my tuppence worth is that private messages of frustration, support, moaning off the thread are all par for the course i reckon BUT my wee mammy always used to say "whatever you say in private you must be willing to say in public" and iv got to agree) #wearenotschoolgirls

AmandaP86x · 22/05/2017 14:40

Well I got it through my early pregnancy unit ( perks of the job apprenely lol) I will be 7+4 so praying every single night I get to that mark and everything is ok.

Don't worry Amanda I'm sure nobody has said that! Ive been following your post from the start I have eyes and I can read and nothing you have said would make anyone think that. That's exciting about your scan!

I've got doctors booked for Friday but I'm a bit confused wether that's what I'm supposed to do, but I guess I can discuss any of my concerns then too. I'm thinking of using one2one midwives although I think it's just a northwest service but you self refer to them anyway but I was going to maybe see what my options were at my doctors as they have a scanning unit so maybe have midwives? I really don't know how it all works.

Well it is exciting for me when people opt for a surprise. I wonder what the actual stats are on how many people go down each route. I'll prob google it in a sec

Moo me and DH had a mooch around mothercare, DHs mind was blown with all the stuff lol. I nearly cried when I saw a little cot set up but I didn't buy anything and I did feel like an imposter although I was super bloated lol. I think the one2one midwives run a mothercare event, they also offer Hypnobirthing classes for just £35 including the book. Not that I've decided my route but I def want to learn those techniques

Roseandbee · 22/05/2017 16:03

bakingmad83 · 22/05/2017 18:43

Hi ladies, lovely to see lots of bfps from the PMA thread :) I was on the first couple of PMA threads, but couldn't keep up. I'm hoping I might be able to keep up with this one :)

Here are my stats:
33 (34 next month)
baby #2
14+4
bfp on 28/3/17 - was 7 weeks, as cycles had been messed up with still breastfeeding, so thought just another long cycle till the symptoms started stacking up!
due 16/11/17

Roseandbee · 22/05/2017 18:54

Hi baking! :) almost 15 weeks! Congrats! Have you had your first scan?
Nice to have you here

Bella I love French toast, eggs are meant to be a good pregnancy food

bakingmad83 · 22/05/2017 18:54

In reply to your 3qs from earlier Bella:

  1. Just going to wait till 20 week scan, as our trust will let you know gender and I'm a SAHM so can't justify many extras
  1. Still got all DS's stuff and even if a DD will be able to use most of it. Last time round started buying stuff after 20 week scan.
  1. DS is 2yr 4m, will be 2yr 10m when his brother/sister arrives - knows there's a baby in mammy's tummy, keeps pointing and saying "brother", followed by "boy" - let's see if he's right :). Although initially hoped for 2yr gap, with periods slow to return happy with closer to 3yrs.
BellaMoon · 22/05/2017 18:55

ahhh @bakingmad83 i remember you. did you tell us about your BFP in March? awww that's lovely, congratulations! xxx

bakingmad83 · 22/05/2017 18:58

Thanks Rose :) Yes, was 11+5 when had first scan. Had to have early scan with DS as had some bleeding, although was lovely to see heartbeat then, glad I didn't need to have an extra scan this time round as was such a worry.

I couldn't get enough meat and eggs last time round, but unfortunately gone off both, as had them when my nausea was bad. Hoping I'll get back into them with time, as managed to avoid anaemia with first pregnancy.

bakingmad83 · 22/05/2017 19:00

Thanks Bella! Don't think I did, migrated onto a ttc and breastfeeding thread, as there weren't many posts so managed to keep up there.

Congrats to everyone on their bfps! Anyone else around 14/15 weeks?

AmandaP86x · 22/05/2017 20:08

My stats r

Age 28
TTC#2
Baby 1
BFP achieved 15/5
EDD - Jan sometime lol
Think im about 6 weeks exactly today.

I spoke to midwife today at EPU. She said the most common cause of cramps lower abdo pain in early pregnancy is actually ur bowel. She said everything slows down and that's why u end up so bloated etc (which I am ad I'm sure some of you have said same) she said to keep an eye on it & up my fibre & try some peppermint tea.

Not going to lie it's fine today - but in turn is that making me freak more I cannot win.

Boobs still achey keep bloody squeezing them to make sure

I haven't thought about buying anything or decorating or anything I feel like I'm jinxing myself lol!!!!

Oh mind the days folk found out at 4/5 months lol wish I was them lol

loababy · 22/05/2017 20:34

Hey ladies,
Just a quick message to say I'm scrolling through.
Crazy how the worrying doesn't stop after your bfp, it's just the start really isn't it?
Can't wait to join you grads soon hopefully :) xx

bakingmad83 · 22/05/2017 20:49

Hi Amanda, pregnancy can be such a worry at times can't it. I had a lot of cramping early on, as well as (TMI) weird shooting pains up my bum, but had experienced both with DS so wasn't quite so worried this time round. However, as my tiredness and nausea wasn't so intense with #2, I wondered whether that was a bad sign and began to imagine my nipple pain was dwindling, though every time DS feeds I get shooting pains in them, so haven't needed to give them a tweak...yet! I can sympathise with the bloating too, so uncomfortable, but at least that's subsided now. I'm properly showing now though. I was tiny with DS and hoped to only tell close family and friends till 20 week scan, but now telling other people after the first thing my hairdresser said to me last week was "So you're expecting another one then?"

AmandaP86x · 22/05/2017 20:51

@bakingmad83 hi luv. I know it's so worrying. I had a missed misscarridge last year - so no symptoms so it's bloody one extreme to another honestly. I'm just now being positive and thinking of next week. ❤️

I don't think I'll tell people until after 12 week scan. Iv told my closest friends just now & couple of workmates due to the nature of my work it can be heavy at times so better safe than sorry.

I would be so paranoid putting it on Facebook incase something happened. I'll maybe do that like 16 week ish lol! 🙈

bakingmad83 · 22/05/2017 21:02

Sorry for your previous loss Amanda, hope your early scan reassures you. Think it's quite common to tell v few people till after 12 weeks, we told no one this time till after we got results of combined test at 13 weeks - hadn't realised 1st time round that they aren't just screening for Down's syndrome, but also Edward's syndrome and Patau's syndrome. Didn't put on facebook last time and won't this time either, but mainly because I don't really post stuff, just use messenger on it. One of my friends told everyone on there at 5 weeks, was really hoping all went well for her, which it did. Hopefully the weeks will fly and you'll be 16 weeks before you know it. Finding this time it's going a lot quicker, but maybe because I've got a cheeky toddler to keep me busy :)

BellaMoon · 22/05/2017 21:11

evening ladies 🙋🏼

yes @loababy it does appear to be one worry after another. i do hope i chill out soon. i mean, i actually wished morning sickness upon myself cos i thought something was wrong that i didn't have it. that's how crazy this journey is! no sane person would do that hahahaha x

so a new discovery this evening is that i have 1 bra that fits! WTF happened to my bazongas? i already have 1 that's a whole cup size bigger than the other so for this to happen is extremely inconvenient at this stage! my bras are about £40 as it is! i was obviously prepared for a change but stupidly thought this wouldn't be til much later on. take it i was being naive? #bellabigboobies

get those stats in ladies and ill do a list by tomorrow evening 😘

love having our experts (midwives and mums) on here sharing all the info. so reassuring to know you're not alone eh? i remember having terrible wind first week or so. slight cramps here or there but by god, the gas was embarrassing 🍑 💨

heading to bed now gals. DH is in for a treat, not that he knows it! have felt terrible about our lack of intimacy lately and to be honest, i'm missing it too so iv shaved buffed and scrubbed (that's a lot of effort but i had all day to do it) and i'm about to shake my toosh in his direction so he gets the hint. ha, ill be raging if he's forgotten my signature move! might have to drop something and bend over to pick it up in front of him... there's not a lot more direct than that old move is there hahahaha #sexyandiknowit #SMEPanyone? haha x

bakingmad83 · 22/05/2017 21:22

Hi Bella,

Hopefully you won't go through too many new bras in the coming months, but in fairness think how much your boobs grow varies so much from woman to woman you weren't to know. Mine didn't increase at all during last pregnancy, only went up a cup size when milk came in, and yet to show any increase this time round either, though probs shouldn't speak too soon :)

Hope you and DH enjoy!!! Hardly had sex at all during first trimester, but last couple of weeks seem to get turned on by the tiniest move from DH.

Night night!

Moo31 · 22/05/2017 22:00

Hi @baking! Welcome back! I don't think you did tell us about your bfp - congrats! :)

@Bella - that is soooo weird about the French toast. I hadn't had it for at least 10 years and took a notion for it when i was 8/9 weeks! Sprinkled with sugar - delish!! I'm not going to comment on your days off - I am too jealous!

Hey @Loa can't wait for you to join us! Hope that elusive bfp shows up for you soon :)

My stats:

  • age 31
  • baby #1
  • bfp achieved 3 March
  • edd 10 November eek!
Moo31 · 22/05/2017 22:02

Ps @bella I have a friend who was very well off in the bosom department pre pg and literally could have opened a bra shop afterwards as she kept going up and up to sizes I didn't even think existed! Honestly I'm surprised she didn't topple over!
