i was given tips from the physio for birthday yesterday as she said giving birth on my back with legs in stirrups or wife apart would be far too painful for me. iv been advised to be on my side, kneeling on the bed or standing. she said she will put this in my notes. she also said water birthing would be good to keep pressure off the pubis however it all depends on how i'm moving nearer the time as they'll not let me use the water if i can't get out quickly should i need too. all fair points i'd say.

thanks for the baby bag advice @bakingmad83 i'm sorting mine next week while off on leave. feel like i can't do much while i'm working these days as i'm knackered at night.

my friend feels great now that baby is here. he's gorgeous at 6lbs 7! i just felt her whole journey was rather long and exhausting for my aunt to call "easy" but hey, i better just shut up and await my fate.

any exciting weekend plans? i'm off to see another friends wee baby tomorrow and hoping to swim a bit on sunday, front bum area permitting xx

BellaMoon · 22/09/2017 07:07

birth not birthday
wide not wife

sorry!

BellaMoon · 22/09/2017 07:09

and yes @bakingmad83 it only takes 1 interested viewer so i wouldn't worry too much about not having a queue of interest already. good luck but i'm sure it'll all work out xx

bakingmad83 · 22/09/2017 16:24

That's helpful your physio was able to give advice for birthing positions Bella. I think most mw would prefer you not to give birth on your back anyway, as probs the least helpful position for getting a baby out, but think so many women end up in this position due to being so tired from long labours or opting for an epidural.

Thanks for your positive words re selling our house too!

Glad your friend and baby are doing well. DS was 7lb 14oz and he seemed small enough, though visited a friend whose little one was newly home from hospital and just over 5lb not long before I had him, was a bit nervous holding her, as she seemed so fragile. Enjoy your baby visit tomo and hopefully you'll get your swim on Sunday.

DS is at a soft play party tomo over lunchtime. There's a food festival in a town not too far from us over the weekend, so may head there afterwards depending on the weather. Not sure yet re Sunday, will just have to see what we can come up with :) Hope everyone has a nice weekend!

bakingmad83 · 23/09/2017 20:23

A friend had her 2nd baby yesterday, amazingly on due date. Start to finish labour was less than an hour and she got to the hospital with 18 mins to spare, yikes! 3rd lady I know who had a 2nd labour less than an hour and her 1st was over 12hrs, so quite a reduction. Slightly worries me as DH is at a wedding 3.5hrs away when I'm 38 weeks. In fairness he's said he won't go if any signs labour might be round the corner - like with DS I lost my mucus plug 2 days before labour - but still a bit apprehensive, as labour can obviously start without warning and who knows when they'll decide to show up. Don't fancy my DM as back up birth partner, even though we're close, and my close friends all live at least a couple of hours away and again probs wouldn't want them there either. So hopefully DD gets the memo to arrive after the weekend DH is away!

AmandaP86x · 23/09/2017 21:37

Good evening girls.

Sorry Iv been MIA I couldn't even find this thread in my "your on" section didnt think it had been that long since I posted!!!! Lol!!!

I have done 6 12 hour shifts in a row - yes this was my actual off duty! HORRENDOUS!!!! So had a few mltdowns one in work and one with DP. Totally hormonal but completely lost it 😭 horrible.

Had my midwife during week. She examined my tummy and I got to listen to heart beat so that was nice. 23 weeks now. Wishing my wee life away.

Hope everyone is well just going to scroll back and catch up xxx

Anna2006 · 24/09/2017 19:27

Ladies I'm having having a right mare. I've been so constipated last couple weeks an I still get the urge to go but it does not want to come out. An think now I've given myself piles 😩😩 literally so sore to sit down.

I've got lactulose I started 3 days ago. An some fybogel drinks today an also gonna have all bran cereal every morning. Any other suggestions WELCOME.

Dreading the next toilet situation as my behind is not happy with me. Oh the glamours if pregnancy 😂 Please tell me I'm not the only one?! I need to get this poo situation under control lol with 19 weeks to go this is not boding well

Xx

bakingmad83 · 24/09/2017 20:28

Sorry to hear you had such a horrendous run of shifts Amanda - hopefully no more like that till you go on mat leave! Glad all went well at the mw :)

I'm the other way with toilet troubles Anna, but imagine constipation must be a lot worse. The soluble fibre in linseeds/flaxseeds can help ease constipation too - either try a tbsp. of ground or soaked whole in something like cereal/yoghurt/smoothie daily. Oats contain a similar type of fibre too, as the only prob with bran based cereals is they can sometimes make the prob worse and generate a lot of gas, but you may find Allbran does the trick :)

I wrote my birth plan today and listened to my antenatal hypnotherapy CD for the first time. So relaxed by it I nearly fell asleep! Have you listened to yours yet Moo? Also had a cup of raspberry leaf tea to try it - couldn't say I loved the taste, but not unpleasant either. If anyone is interested Aldi have rasp leaf teabags in at the mo.

Ohb0llocks · 24/09/2017 21:09

I had the constipation issue but now I’m going for like 3 or 4 poos a day! To the point where DS keeps following me asking if it’s a poo or a wee 🙄

BellaMoon · 24/09/2017 22:10

@Anna2006 orange juice and strong coffee always work for me if i'm having trouble moving things along. i had weeks of constipation then weeks of the runs. then it went to both in the same week now it's both in the same day! hope it eases for you soon xx

@AmandaP86x that's a terrible off duty, no wonder you had a meltdown. emotions or not that would drive anyone to tears. hope you're well otherwise!

@Ohb0llocks that's a shame you're frequenting the loo so much. hope things settle down for you too. how you keeping otherwise?

what's the name of your CD @bakingmad83 ?

nothing much to report from me other than crutches are a hindrance but i'm sticking with them. have GTT next friday which iv heard is rather revolting so yay, can't wait.

iv just held little 3 day old tiny wee baby boy. he melted my heart. so so perfect. seeing him in DHs arms was something else tho, i almost cried. my DH is such a big bloke, huge arms and hands so this wee baba was like a tiny wee doll in his arms. i'm wishing my life away but i cannot bloody wait til our little guy is here. DH is now beyond excited too. we've spoken non stop about what it's going to be like when he's here, soooooo frigging excited xxxx

Ohb0llocks · 24/09/2017 22:37

@BellaMoon I’m good! I’ve had the gtt, it’s honestly not that bad, the stuff they make you drink is pretty rank, and it’s boring but other than that it’s not absolutely awful!

bakingmad83 · 25/09/2017 05:54

Bella, CD is Natal Hypnotherapy - Effective Birth Preparation, costs around £10 new. Hope you get used to the crutches soon and good luck for GTT.

BellaMoon · 26/09/2017 16:46

thanks for the reassurance @Ohb0llocks mine is friday morning so i’m sure by lunch
time i’ll have forgotten how rotten it is! glad you’re doing well xx

thanks @bakingmad83 for the CD recommendation. feel like i should be preparing myself for birthing as much as possible. it’s the 1 thing i keep putting to the back of my mind! xx

just been out shopping with MIL so everything on my hospital bag list, for me and baby, has been purchased. she’s still in full blown baby buying mode so who am
i to stop her? i did draw the line at her buying me knickers - i wonder sometimes if she thinks we’re skint! lol

for those of us with a winter due date, have you read the online advice about no snowsuits whilst in car seat? i know it’s probably common sense but i hadn’t put much thought to it. iv bought a huge cosy snowsuit for coming home from the
hospital but then read these aren’t safe for when you strap baby in as the harness can’t fit snuggly enough against baby. again every1 might already know this but thought i’d mention incase any1, like me, hadn’t really thought about it. the super cute snowsuit will now just need to be for the pram!

any appointments or scans coming up? x

Ohb0llocks · 26/09/2017 16:58

@BellaMoon I knew about the snowsuit thing but that’s only from having DS, it’s not something that’s ever been mentioned to me this time round.

I have midwife on Monday for 34 week appointment. Can not believe how fast it’s going!

bakingmad83 · 26/09/2017 17:17

Probs no bad thing you're not thinking too much about the birth Bella if you just plan to go with the flow on the day. Was reading in the booklet with the CD how fear of giving birth in more developed countries may be contributing to higher rates of induction, as if there's too much adrenaline floating round in your system you're less likely to start labour naturally.

Already knew about the snowsuit/padded jacket thing thanks, but again from when I had DS, as not long before he was born there were a lot of shares on facebook about it. Useful info for first time mums though :) Never got to use DS's snowsuit, as was such a mild winter the year he was born, so hopefully you'll get more use!

Just had my flu jab today

Moo31 · 27/09/2017 09:31

Hi ladies sorry I have been awol!

@baking – ^ what everyone else said – you have been a font of knowledge and wisdom for this group – thank you! Hopefully your hip pain has eased and fx for some house viewers soon  Thank you also for reminding me about the RLT – I had totally forgotten! I have listened to the CD but haven’t made it all the way through track 2 as yet as I have fallen asleep everytime! It is so relaxing! I also started the daisy birthing classes a few weeks ago and it’s all about relaxation and active birthing – hopefully I remember everything when the time comes!

@Anna – gorgeous scan pic!

Moo31 · 27/09/2017 09:33

Sorry that was a long one I really need to keep up better!

If Amanda, Ohb, Anna and Chips post their EDDs and someone wants to start a new thread that would be fab!!

And @Bella I am with you on making the pact that we all post a wee update when baby arrives - it will be lovely to hear/see after being on this journey together!

Ohb0llocks · 27/09/2017 09:46
