@Bella – eeeek!! I can’t see your pic on my computer (something to do with my settings) but I am so glad it all went ok! Re the feelings you had at the weekend – I haven’t had the out of body but I have had the palpitations, heart racing, dizziness, light headed - all normal I think but maybe worth getting your blood pressure checked out. Maybe they checked it today?

@Anna – hope you managed to get sorted re hayfever? I used to have it but seem to have grown out of it … fx it doesn’t return with vengeance now!

@Baking – great recommendations on the yoga, I am definitely going to take it up! Also cake and buns … mmm!! How was there leftovers?! :o

@Squirrel – did you get sorted with pregnancy vitamins? I take the pregnacare but only because they were on offer so they worked out cheaper than the tesco own brand ones! As long as they have the folic acid and vitamin D quantities that @baking said you’ll be fine.

Re movement I have felt some bubbling quite high up and some other feelings that are hard to describe – I googled and I am putting them down as movement!! Somewhere said once you feel it you will feel it every day from then on and I have def had different little feelings every day.

Also got on the scales at the weekend – I am sorry I mentioned I was worried about not gaining weight before as it’s piling on now!! I was convinced my scales were broken but then my parent’s scales said the same thing … although apparently up to now we’ve been building up fat stores and from week 19 onwards the baby starts to utilise them – here’s hoping!!!

I am off to the expectant parents event at Mothercare tomorrow night (I think I mentioned it on here before – they do them in June and October apparently). They look really good for first timers like me who haven’t got a clue. Info on prams / car seats / first aid / etc – so hopefully it’s good.

bakingmad83 · 13/06/2017 20:19

Glad your scan went well today Bella, lovely to see your scan pic :)

I've been quite good regarding cake leftovers :) Gave a good few slices away to neighbours and then we've a party at playgroup tomo, as one of the other helpers is emigrating, so the leftover cupcakes that were donated by local cake businesses will go down well I'm sure! RE weight gain, if you're planning to breastfeed, the weight usually drops off fairly easily after pregnancy, as you use up to an extra 500kcal a day with milk production, so it's good to put on a healthy amount :) Hope you enjoy your baby event tomo evening at Mothercare. Shame the one at our nearest city shut a couple of years back, but know they've shut a lot of stores nationwide.

Anna2006 · 13/06/2017 20:54

@Moo31. Yes thanks Moo. I went and found some of the stuff Bella said about in boots and it's seem to have helped for today so Fingers crossed!

The mother care event sounds good let me know how it goes as I'd be interested in it when it next cokes round if I was at about 20 weeks. How far ahead did you need to book in?

AmandaP86x · 13/06/2017 22:15

Aww @BellaMoon lovely picture and so happy for u. Must be such a good feeling!!!

I had my booking appt today. 9+1 I am today. Feel absolutely exhausted and I can't stop eating crap 😭😷 Chinese last night and McDonald's tonight 😭 I'm going to be huge!!!!

Just feel permanently hungover 😭

Moo31 · 13/06/2017 22:55

www.mothercare.com/advice-buying-guides-and-services/services/expectant-parent-event/services-ms-parent-event.html
That's the details there Anna - check when the next one is in your area :) we booked a few weeks ago, we were having a nosey in store and must have come across as totally clueless as the woman we spoke to suggested we come to the event and booked us in Lol!

@Baking definitely planning to breastfeed so that's good to know! I have almost all the "average" 2nd trimester weight on and I'm only halfway through 2nd tri!

@amanda I remember comparing 1st tri to a permanent hangover! It will pass :) enjoy the junk now and you'll even it out with healthy eating in 2nd tri :)

BellaMoon · 14/06/2017 06:48

thanks for all the comments ladies. sorry to have dropped the pic and not read back the thread. i was in a total daze yday, between telling friends/family that didn't know and then all the calls, my head was in a spin. not to mention working in the afternoon!

@Anna2006 so glad the boots stuff helped for the hayfever. i don't know if it's because we've had a lot of rain lately but our pollen count has been quite low so iv only had to use the spray a few days. if you got that just make sure you drink plenty as it's natural sea salt so you can end up a bit parched after using it xx

@AmandaP86x yay booking appt done ✅ you're only a couple of weeks away from scan now. how exciting! whatever you can face eating, i'd say lap it up. you need energy from somewhere and if you didn't have that, you'd be screwed. i was the exact same in first month or two. iv finally got back onto fruit just this past week so i'm hoping i might like veg and fish/meat again soon!!! xx

@Moo31 was the mothercare event good? ill aim to go to 1 for sure. i am totally clueless! there's so much to take in isn't there? i'm sure my nearest store has 1 soon but ill maybe hold off til nearer the 20wk point to go if it's possible. xx

@bakingmad83 any idiot friendly recipes you can share? i'm a fan of all cakes, particularly nutty 1s or better still anything with ginger in. #sharingiscaring xx

hope you're all keeping well ladies! i have today (with my new fast forwarded dates) entered the 2nd tri. whoop whoop! i noticed my waist isn't as defined as it was so trousers are definitely pinching at the sides now. looks like it's dresses for work from now on! i'm not so worried about my weight as i was as i popped on the scales this morn and apparently i'm down on pre-baby weight by 2lbs (dry jacobs crackers for dinner most of the week clearly did that lol) so all this 2nd tri weight (and return of a healthy appetite hopefully) is welcome #fatpie #greedybella

the laugh yday, we put a wee announcement on FB and the first person to comment was my friend that runs the sushi business. she said, "omg thank god you're pregnant cos i was starting to wonder if you'd fallen out with me!' haha. she has just closed her company to go to america as she's won a scholarship at a japanese cooking school to master her skills. i'm sooo glad as that means to sushi pics with promo deals popping up on my timeline to torment me hehe #sushiaddict #reallyreallymissit

bakingmad83 · 14/06/2017 06:54

Morning,

A permanent hangover is how I found the 1st tri this time too, but felt pretty much myself again by week 14, so hopefully you'll be the same Amanda :)

Moo, I know some people who've put a fair bit of weight on at one stage in pregnancy and then it's been quite slow and gradual, so all averages out and we're all different :)

Anna2006 · 14/06/2017 18:59

@Amanda I literally can't stop eating either. .I'm only 6+1 but I'm eating like a horse. I'm so hungry all the time.
I genuinely don't really feel pregnant though particularly. It's just very different to last time. But maybe it needs to be & that will be a good thing.

Only symptoms are:
Boobs have got bigger & fuller (only mildly sore occasionally)
Having to pee in the night which I never used to
An have put on weight which I usually struggle with as I'm eating everything & anything 🙈

They seem like opposite to what you'd normally expect to get but I guess each one is unique like they say!

AmandaP86x · 14/06/2017 19:18

Aw honestly girls today has been a nightmare. Don't think the 12 hour shifts help either. I started off well two boiled eggs and then some fresh fruit - then had 2 greggs sausage rolls & then pie chips and beans at my grans 😂

Feeling very white ugly and just general yuck tonight so going to a bath going to exfoliate scrub put a mask on and try and make myself feel better 😭 bought some crumpets and jam aswell so I'll have that for love island lol!!!!

I'm so emotional aswell just crying at songs on the radio and shit hahaha!!!

Also have u heard anyone saying u shouldn't go in a bath??? Iv googled it and says something about not being too hot so making sure it's cooler than normal but I pure miss my baths I used to have one every night and now I'm too scared 😂 but I need it tonight!

bakingmad83 · 14/06/2017 21:13

Enjoy your baths Amanda! You just don't want boiling hot ones, think even then it's only an issue during the first temperature, so nice warm but not scorching baths will be fine :)

I'm so much hungrier this time round, with DS I didn't have much appetite till the end and went off sweet food, but now I want extra sweet and savoury things! So know where you're coming from :)

bakingmad83 · 14/06/2017 21:14

first trimester even!

Dollydaydream2829 · 14/06/2017 22:03

Hi ladies,

Congratulations on the scan bella - I get so excited seeing scans, even when they're not my own! Just love the feeling of everyone getting excited and filled with love at the sight. ❤❤

Aww Moo that's so exciting about the movement thing! I felt so excited that I'd felt something a week ago but it was a one off and nothing since so it must have been wind 😂😂 I've put on 9lbs so far, which hopefully isn't too ridiculous but more than the 1lb a week guidance!!

Amanda I wasn't too bad in first trimester but now I'm more than making up for it with my appetite! Can't stop eating lol! Defo eating for two..... or four
Also, I would defo continue with baths as normal, like baking has said, just not boiling hot!

Anna - sound like solid pregnancy symptoms, especially the peeing one Haha!

Roseandbee · 16/06/2017 09:20

Hi all, i'm still here. Ive still been following just not posted in awhile as i've felt like crap and i've been trying to make time go quicker by not obsessing over being pregnant. its kinda worked as ive been concentrating on feeling rubbish instead:-/
so excited to see your scan pic this morning bella, could you see the baby moving around during the scan?

sorry youve also been feeling rubbish Amanda, ive continued having baths just cooler ones. I read somewhere that basically your aiming for a temp where you don't have to cautiously lower yourself in.

Moo thats exciting about the movement! ill have to check out the mothercare thing

Anna2006 · 16/06/2017 14:29

So I went to GP this morning to ask for referall to EPU for early scan. They refused and said unless your bleeding or in pain it isn't neccessry an won't refer for previous missed mc. Which is bull as I know plenty of ppl who've been referred through my surgery. It's so frustrating.

So I either wait An speak to midwife next Friday an see if she feels sorry for me and refers me. Or book a private scan? But our EPU scan you twice so now I feel like I'll want to pay for two.

Dilemma ladies. What should I do? It's a bit excessive I know but I can't help it

Xx

Moo31 · 16/06/2017 16:03

Anna - remind me how far on you are? I had a private scan at 7 weeks and it definitely put my mind at ease until 12 week scan. So I would say book one anyway but then ask m/w next Friday too and then you might get one with them plus your private one. Having a private one booked will put your mind at ease i think.

Does anyone have any nice weekend plans? I had a half day today, lunch with mum and now we're at the airport waiting on our flight to Scotland to visit my sister :) My mum is so protective of me and bump - I bleeped going through security and they wanted me in the x-ray machine thing, before I could say anything she was like "she's pregnant, she can't go in it". The guy was fine, said it's not an x-ray as such but they understand some pregnant women prefer not to so I could be patted down instead. Then he called a female over and said "she's pregnant and doesn't want to go in the x-ray machine". I was like "I thought you said it wasn't an xray!?" Lol

The mothercare thing was so-so. I had such high expectations and it didn't really deliver on them. They did 4 talks - nursery, car seats, feeding and prams. The nursery bit was the best with do's and don'ts. The pram bit lasted 10 seconds and was "I'm not going to do a demo as everyone has different needs and budgets so come and speak to me after". The car seat demo'd how to fit via seat belt and isofix which was ok. The feeding bit was basically a sales pitch for a tommee tippee machine. We got talking to a girl after who helped is to demystify car seats a bit so that was useful at least. There was also a lovely midwife who put my mind at ease re the waking up on my back. So not as good as I had hoped but not terrible either!!

Anna2006 · 16/06/2017 19:24

6+3 I am today Moo. I'm not really sure if one scan at 7 weeks would put my mind at rest. So I might try hold out until 8-9 weeks for a scan seeing as I will need to pay now.

DH has gone away on stag. So off I went to KFC Drive through to get myself a huge box meal. Literally starving. I'm hoping it's a good thing an baby is using up my food reserves!!

bakingmad83 · 16/06/2017 19:58

Sorry the GP won't refer you for an early scan Anna and that you'll have to pay for one yourself. Hopefully the next couple of weeks will pass quickly and you'll get reassurance if you get one at 8 or 9 weeks. Hope you enjoyed your KFC! I've never actually had one, the nearest one is over an hour away.

Lovely you get to see your sister Moo! Sorry the evening at Mothercare was a bit of a let down. I wondered whether it would be more a case of them trying to sell products rather than provide useful info, but still sounds like you got something out of it.

We're off tomo for 5 nights to North Wales. Self-catering, as find that's easiest with DS esp with his allergies. Typically I did something to my back yesterday and although didn't feel it at the time, woke this morning with lower back pain and nervy pain in my bottom, legs and feet, so think I've got a trapped nerve. Still been able to be as active today, but had a hot water bottle on my back and a nice warm bath this morning - not sure if that's helpful with it being non-muscular, but nice all the same :)

bakingmad83 · 16/06/2017 20:00

Sorry to hear you've been feeling so rubbish Rose. How far along are you again? Hopefully you'll feel more yourself once you're out of the first trimester.

Moo31 · 16/06/2017 22:45

@Baking I hope you're feeling better soon and have a nice break - sounds lovely :)

@Anna definitely book yourself a scan. If you book for 8 weeks that's 4 weeks since you got your bfp then it will be another 4 weeks and you'll have your 12 week scan - so every 4 weeks xo

bakingmad83 · 17/06/2017 06:36

Thanks Moo. Back still pretty sore this morning, though at least the pains elsewhere seem to have gone. Annoyingly though I somehow tripped over nothing and landed on the floor when carrying my bowl of porridge just now and it smashed everywhere, so had a nice mess to clean up. Could have done without that, as got a long to do list to tackle before we head off at ten.

Enjoy your weekends everyone!

Ohb0llocks · 17/06/2017 07:50

Gorgeous scan @BellaMoon

So looking forwards to the scan on Thursday!

Just given a months notice on my house to move into a lovely 3 bed! Same town so DS' nursery won't change, and we'll be nice and settled in time to apply for his school place (september), and for the baby to arrive (November)!

Didn't have any midwife appointments in July so at least this is something to look forwards to after the scan and to keep me occupied!

I desperately want to start arranging everything already, but trying to hold off a bit.

I'm also a VERY anxious person (I guess that's what an abusive relationship does to you! Though I'm much luckier than some poor women.) and I keep thinking this is all going to go wrong! The house; the pregnancy, DS's happiness, Because great things don't happen to me. Or so I was told for years. It's a hard cycle to break, and I think I have a genuine fear of happiness.

BellaMoon · 17/06/2017 08:26

@Moo31 do i remember right that your sister lives in Coltness/Cleland? just up the road from me! hope you have a lovely weekend and she spoils you and bump. LOL at your mum in the airport, too funny!

i also booked onto the mothercare event. looked it up and my local store is stopping them as of 2nd july so iv got us going next tuesday. ill filter through the sales pitch hopefully and maybe (fingers crossed) learn something. feel absolutely clueless!

@bakingmad83 sorry to hear about your back. hope it eases up asap for your nice break away.

heard the weather down south is amazing this weekend, enjoy - well jel!

@Anna2006 book the scan, if you happen to get 1 via EPU then win win! go for it chic

@Ohb0llocks when is your scan?

i'm having lunch with my bestie and her sister today. her sis is pregnant too, 3 days ahead of me so we're catching up. love a good girlie chat. no boys allowed!

tomorrow i'm seeing (most of the time absent) father. he has split up from his (hoe) partner so he has time for me! i say this tongue in cheek cos he is the ultimate womaniser who literally wears blinkers - he can only see what is directly infront of his face. he cannot handle more than 1 female at a time haha. i'm used to it so the afternoon will go well as i just nod and smile!!

hope you all have a lovely weekend and if anyone can send some sunshine up here please do! xxx

Roseandbee · 18/06/2017 16:21

Thanks baking I'm 9 weeks 2 days. Actually in Anglesey for a week now. I mention in the TTC thread how I had a week booked in June for our anniversary so it's funny thinking I'm here now pregnant. It's perked me up a bit, still a bit pukey but maybe less tired.
Anna I had a scan due to a tiny bit of bleeding at 6 weeks. Was planning on doing one privately but think I'm getting the harmony/NIPT test done next week which includes a scan. My friends just had a scare with her NHS results n got it done and all came out ok but she had a horrible week of waiting.
Ohb that's exciting about your move, life has good times and bad times, I guess I have the happiness fear too so can understand where you coming from but this is def your good time and you deserve good times

Moo31 · 18/06/2017 18:51

@baking oh my goodness you sound as clumsy as me! 😂 do you think pregnancy has affected your balance??

@ohb thays great news about the house! Don't let your past hang over your future (easier said that done I'm sure) everything is going right and you deserve it 😊

@bella she's in carfin! We had a lovely weekend thanks just at the airport waiting on our flight home :( hope you had a girly lovely catch up with your friends! And with your dad too ;) re mothercare I sort of thought that any info I can glean is a good thing and I did learn some stuff so it wasn't all bad!

@rose Have a lovely break!! 😀

Anna2006 · 19/06/2017 08:11

Have a lovely break away Rose! Yes we've decided to go for a private scan st 8-9 week mark an I can speak to midwife next week an see if she can get the dating scan a bit earlier for me. As they tend to do then at 13+2 in this earlier. So closer to 12 weeks would be better. I can only ask!

It's so friggins hot ladies. Is anyone else struggling? It's literally knocked me for six. Don't know if it's just coincided with me feeling tired anyway. I'm literally exhausted and wake up feeling like I've run a marathon!

My friend had a little boy yesterday! She said the delivery was a sweaty mess and the ward was ridiculously hot. That doesn't sound fun. So yay for cooler autumn and winter baby labours!!
